Been coming to Sakura for years, and whether it's as a couple, or ten of us, the service is always spot on, the food fantastic, and the atmosphere great. I would recommend booking, more people know how good this is now, it's getting busier. 6 stars if I could. Keep it up!

Great food and great value for money. Had a very generous serving of delicious spicy ramen for lunch and will certainly be returning to try out the main dinner menu .

The sushi is seriously delicious � the best I have had in England I used to travel 45 mins to get here but thankfully I live closer now.
1st time visiting here and the service and food was faultless. Great value for money also. I'll definitely return again if I'm in the area.

We visited last night without a booking. A table was available right away. Each table was partitioned by curtain all wall to make your space more intimate, a great addition!
The food came within 10 minutes of ordering and it was all delicious - particularly the southsea maki.
The prices were reasonable aswell which was a bonus.

Don't expect to just drop in you will need to book as it's very popular as the food is so good.
Japan may be halfway around the world, but the taste and atmosphere of Nihon is available on the British South coast!
The layout of the restaurant is very reminiscent of the small and tight streets of Japan's bustling streets, with a single walkway leading to and from the kitchen, and a small curtain separating the tables for that extra privacy/coziness.
The food is also super fresh, with the maki and nigiri being oh so right.
The seafood ramen was also a treat, with tasty broth and yummy noodles.
The staff are also very attentive and check on you to make sure your order is to your liking, so you do feel valued and appreciated for your visit.
They also have Asahi on tap!
Definitely recommend if you're a fellow aficionado of Japanese food and culture.

Went on a busy Saturday night (book ahead!) and was greeted by the smiling staff, with quick service and absolutely delicious food. One to recommend!

the plum wine, and yuzu wine, tasted great.
food arrived quickly and was all delicious.
the rainbow sushi was a smart choice, as it had a bit of everything!
the mobo tofu was a worthwhile risk, as I'd never seen the dish anywhere before, but it was fantastic!
staff were highly accommodating, seemed glad to bring more ginger and some plain rice.

Celebrating our daughters 16th birthday today. A popular restaurant in Southsea with excellent Japanese food, warm atmosphere and friendly staff.
Totally random find on the way to the theatre - but very happy with it. Clearly very popular with locals and probably best to book in advance, although we got a table for 2 with just a 20 minute wait. Great food and service.

The only reason I’m giving this restaurant 4 stars is because we made a reservation at 9:30, but got our table only by 10. The staff were very accommodating and friendly though, but I feel they should have alerted the people who had already finished dining, paid their bill but were sitting and drinking. Nonetheless the food and the ambience is amazing! Katsu Curry is to die for! Very nice vibrant restaurant in the heart of Portsmouth. I will visit again in the future.
Next time you think about going to Wagamama, just come here instead. Better service, bigger menu, better quality food served in an intimate warm and comfortable restaurant. Service is fast, friendly, and efficient, and portions are generous. The yakatori was some of the best I've had outside Japan.
