A proper traditional pub with a decent garden outside. Friendly attentive staff and a good choice of well kept beers and food was good. A great alternative to the one down the hill that seems to take all of the attention and you fancy somewhere a bit more personal.

Best pub in the area for us. Very friendly, great home cooked and locally sourced food. Beer is excellent. What a pub should be like. I hope it never changes.

Great staff and the food was amazing. Would recommend the steak and wedges, it was cooked perfectly. They also have a lovely beer garden.

We had really lovely food last night at the Royal Standard. Homemade fish pie and homemade steak and ale pie. Followed by the most delicious apple crumble and clotted cream. The staff are really friendly and the pub is very comfortable and also has a lovely beer garden. Very impressed, look forward to going back next year.

Exactly what a pub should be. Friendly and welcoming, great food, drinks and service. The fish pie from the specials was delicious and a good variation of flavours throughout. The steak and ale pie came with added gravy and was packed with steak. Lovely vegetables too. A decent beer garden. We highly recommend this place.

Lovely people offering honest, delicious homemade food. A good menu with vegetarian options and daily specials. We had steak, a fish pie, spaghetti Bologna’s (both beef and veggie) and lasagne. Everyone cleared their plates. Excellent ice cream, chocolate fudge cake and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Great value.

Excellent food. Perfect place to bring your own her half. Nice, little traditional pub with all your favourites on the menu. They also do not fry, so thankfully you will not find chips on the menu.

The couple who run the Royal Standard are very helpful and friendly. It's a classic pub with low beams and it hasn't gone in for flashing lights and loud music. Amenities include parking and outdoor tables. There's a free car park (in Cornwall!?!) and a playground nearby. The food is good British food. Being near Portscatho, there are good views, but it's less expensive than some nearby venues.
