Pizzaway is a small take-away joint in Portree serving delicious stone baked pizzas, and a lifesaver on Sundays when most restaurants are either closed or fully booked and you are famished after a long hike.
We got the following pizzas:
1. The Highland Meat Feast - comprising haggis, bacon, pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms on a tomato mozzarella base.
2 The Glasrach (Gaelic for “vegetarian”) - comprising artichoke, olives, sweet bell peppers, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms on a tomato mozzarella base.
Both were ready within 10 minutes of ordering, served fresh baked and piping hot, and tasted absolutely amazing even 15 minutes later when we had brought them back to our accommodation to eat.
Having eaten pizza from both of the highly rated places in Portree, I can honestly say that this one is the best.
First, the toppings are much more generous and plentiful. WAY more!
Second, the crust and pizza dough is much better. Appropriately browned on the stone, wonderfully crispy and yet perfectly foldable for that last bite of each slice.
Thirdly, service. You can call in an order and it will be ready for you in 10 minutes or less, right in the middle of town rather than having to drive to the edge of town.
Fourthly, they offer a gluten-free option as well as vegetarian options. And you could make up whatever vegetarian pizza you could imagine.
Lastly, and not least, there are more flavor combinations available and also any combination you can imagine. Again, way more than the other guy.
So don't let the lack of a reservation keep you from enjoying a great meal. Just make sure you get there before 7:30!
We drove through Portree in early April and decided to park the car and walk around the town to find lunch. There were so many places that were closed. We could only assume that maybe we were in slow season or just out of winter season for all these restaurants to be shut. Thankfully, Pizzaway was open.
But wait, pizza in this little town in Scotland? Honestly I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I wrong! We ordered the vegetarian pizza - it was ready in 10 minutes, and came out nice and hot, with tons of toppings. We sat outside and enjoyed the view while finishing every last bite.
100% recommend this little spot, the staff were super kind and friendly, the pie was fresh and delicious!
I wish I had a picture, but we inhaled this pizza so fast we forgot to take pics!!!
Best pizza I’ve eaten in a long time. Ratio of toppings with cheese & sauce perfectly balanced & in abundance.
Around 10 of us rocked up for pizza & we were served quickly & without any fuss.
No complaints from anyone. Will definitely frequent next time I’m on Skye.
I wouldn't be exaggerating when i say this place saved me after a long day of trekking around Skye and lack of accessible food options in Portree. Most places require reservation and close in between their normal lunch/ dinner hours or only open for dinner. We were happy to find these guys and they were very welcoming! Definitely recommend if you need a quick food option in Portree.
We were tired after 10+ miles of hiking and feeling like we were exploring another planet.. the hikes around here are nothing short of inspriational spendor. Ordered 3 pizza's via the phone for take away and they were ready in 15 minues piping hot. All were tasty and the Demahan meat pizza was spicy which is what we love!
Looking for a place to get food and glad we decided Pizzaway! The staff were friendly and welcoming. They had good choices on the menu, with options to add extra toppings. Pizza was really good, one of the best I have had. Really good service and was quickly ready. The best thing was the picnic tables outside the take away with the view of Loch Portree.
The takeaway pizzas from Pizzaway are simply first class Italian food. Generously sized and topped and the staff are friendly and warm. If you fancy a pizza and in you're in Portree this is the place to go for sure. 5*!
Great Pizza after a long hike. I would recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a quick delicious bit
After hiking up Old Man of Storr and getting back to our campsite early evening we needed some quick grub. Stumbled across this pizza takeaway place in the town. Stunning freshly cooked pizza with really interesting toppings, and good value. Highly recommended.
With not so many dinner options around and with a too long queuing time we simply decided to have something quick but tasty. In such a case, Pizzaway does a good and decent job. They have some wood benches outside, too, so it’s nice to simply sit and enjoy your pizza there at sunset.
Great pizzas, with friendly staff. Highly recommend !
Freshly cooked thin crust pizza cooked to order. Cooking time too less then 15 minutes. Ordered the Highland meat feat which includes haggis. All I can say I great flavours on a tomato base. Definitely somewhere to stop and great a lovely pizza!
To get to the shop from the high Street you have to go through a door and down the stairs to the left at the bottom. Or go around into the long stay car pack and access the shop directly up a slope and some steps

This place saved the day with an awesome lunch on a short tour stop in Portree. Everywhere else was full. It is takeaway only, but we were able to get out of the cold while we waited for our pizza. They were fast and had a couple of outdoor picnic tables. It would be amazing if the tables were covered, but the pizza was great, and luckily it stopped raining by the time we got our food. They have coffee, hot cocoa, and irn-bru as well.
There are no bathrooms, but public toilets are across the street.
Gorgeous pizzas and lovely friendly lady that served us would recommend a couple of benches outside or a short walk to car park where there are more benches looking out over the water
Prices are decent.. they have good pizzas, cakes and some hot drinks. The servers are very friendly. You can sit outside the restaurant on the wooden benches but there is no seating inside.
This is the perfect place for a quick, hot meal, especially at the end of a long day when the restaurants are either full or closed. I got the sausage, mushroom, and truffle oil pizza and it was far beyond what I was expecting—just delicious! Well-priced and ready within 15 minutes.
Very good pizza and outdoor seating if you are there on a nice day. One of the few places to get a reasonably priced meal in Portree.
Takeaway pizza, ready within 10-15 mins. Tried the vege pizza (artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, baby Peppers and mushrooms) which was good!
