The best seafood restaurant in Isle of Skye. The place is always crowded so we went 5 mins before they open and already there were 5 to 6 people outside waiting. We got in and ordered the salmon and it was The Best!!!! I would recommend this place for sure!!!! By the way keep in mind they have limited seating and it will get crowded very fast!

It's a small restaurant by the sea, recommend warmer clothing as they don't heat. The food was really good. I have no complaints. If you enjoy seafood I think you can't get much more fresh than here. word of advice they don't take reservations so make sure you are 30 mins earlier there. And bring a jacket because you might have to wait in a queue. we were 20 mins early and still got in with around 20 people in front of us.

This restaurant was recommended by a local as a good seafood place. They were right, everything was so fresh and tasted amazing. Our server Michelle was fantastic, so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I’m a fat guy so I know food, and I HIGHLY recommend eating here if you’re in Portree!

Fun, small space with incredible service- especially since they only had two waitresses! Food was tasty, watch out for the wait! There was a line out the door to get in, so be prepared for that

This place was fantastic! We walked in and after a very chilly day it was the absolute best dinner to warm us up. We had starters (a seafood soup and the smoked salmon), mains (fish pie and scallops) and a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Along with a great local beer. Everything tasted delicious and the service couldn’t have been better

Great menu, we ate there twice during our four night stay on Skye. Best to get in early if you want a particular dish that may sell out. Good varied menu, fresh seafood expertly cooked. Good wine list, greta service. Quick service if you want it, but not rushed out if we wanted to linger. As they do not take bookings we queued about 15 minutes before opening....got in right away.

Popular, had to queue for 20 minutes, but what a location! Wonderful food and drinks, why had I not heard of Cullin Skink?

We were exploring around the Isle of Skye for the weekend and since it was a Sunday there were not many restaurants open in the area. After doing a bit of research we found that the Lower Deck restaurant was open and accepting walk-ins only as they don't offer telephone bookings. When we arrived there was quite a large cue outside and it was raining so we got absolutely drenched standing outside for 45mins until a table was free. Once we got in the restaurant there was only 10/15 tables so I understand why we had a long wait and with Portree being the tourist capital they will always be popular. Myself and my Girlfriend both ordered the fish and chips which were served within 15/20mins which was fantastic as we were really hungry, unfortunately we didn't realise it was breaded as wasn't given the choice to have it battered as we ordered so quickly. The fish was really good but did have some small bones in the tail which we picked out. Still slightly hungry we both had the chocolate brownie and ice cream which was really good. Our visit was good but I wouldn't hurry back as it was just fish and chips and having to cue for so long put us slightly off too, the pricing is a little high end but being in Portree I understand, if your in the area The Lower Deck is worth a try.

Right down on the water front, The Lower Deck is a relatively small resturant that does not take reservations. The tradition here is to queue up outside the resturant (they don't take your name or anything), they come out the door and seat the next group of 2 or 4. I think it would be difficult to come here with 5 or more perhaps. We waited for about 15 minutes and ot a very nice table (they are all nice). There was a dressed crab salad on the special this night and it was huge and we picked every last bit. The beef and alle stew was nothing short of good comfort food that sticks to your ribs and make you feel warm and comfortable. I had the mussels and could just barely finish the 1kg serving (I think it was more TBH). Everything was worth going back for!

Food was okay, wanted to eat F&C but 16£ was too expensive imo. Had calamari instead, unfortunately they didn't have coleslaw. Overall the calamari were okay, but not what I expected from a seafood restaurant. Staff was nice. Place was crowded. Would try another restaurant if I come back to portree :)

Local seafood spot that is very much worthy of dining. This is a first come, first sit place. We arrived right on opening. The service was friendly and quick. The food was amazing, ordered soup and calamari starters, main was seabass, and sticky toffee pudding was fabulous.

Went at 12.45pm, it was full house luckily just waited for 10mins outside under the heavy raining day. Worth waiting as the food was really tasty and reasonable price at the Isle of Skye Scotland.

TL;DR - Great spot for no frills seafood. After a long drive from Glasgow, we were starving. We parked in the towne centre and set off to find some food. Unfortunately, it was a little past 2 pm and most restaurants near the square close at 2 pm before re-opening for dinner service later at 5 pm. Thank goodness for The Lower Deck. Their dining room was quite full, but luckily they had a couple of open tables near the windows. We were seated immediately and ordered a half kilo of mussels and the cold smoked salmon. The mussels were cooked just right and their tomato sauce really paired nicely. The smoked salmon was tasty...I really liked the crackers that came with the salmon. They were almost like biscuits. We were really pleased with our meal.
