Brilliant seafood and drinks, the staff were friendly and helpful. It did help that when we went the weather was glorious as the restaurant is outside, there are covers they can pull down for when the weather is not the best, but that does not stop it being a lovely place to stop for food and drinks. We had a few dishes such as scallops, prawns and squid all came with chips and were absolutely delicious, excellent price as well would not say it is overpriced at all. Would recommend that if you are in the area you stop by and grab some food it really is a lovely place.

Ha! What a great place! We had an absolute blast here, it’s so relaxed and layed back that we ended up eating off our laps sat on the floor and wouldn’t have changed a thing! With sun out providing a gorgeous view for everyone, that you are practically a part of given how close you are to the water btw, it got busy pretty quick, with the music and laughter and chatter all making for the perfect summer vibe. With a large array of drinks, cocktails too, as well as a decent food menu, astonishing really given the size of the place, you can sit here for hours just enjoying the moment and the atmosphere. We ended up having pickled mackerel for something a little lighter, and the tiger prawns, which would be a strong recommendation. Both were lovely! Fresh as can be. Shame they had sold out of muscles, but goes to show how popular the place is. Service was as happy as can be, with everyone seeming to be loving it as much as we were. Great place and you’re missing out if you decide to overlook it.

Can't recommend this place highly enough. Was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint, worth the visit from Falmouth alone, so good we even stopped in Porthleven again a few days later just to eat here again! It's not exactly what you would call cheap but you are paying for the quality of ingredients and the dishes were put together well. Over the two visits we made it through the crispy squid, the hanky panky (the fish was lovely), chowder, mussels, and the tiger prawns. Staff were fantastic and the music soundtrack and overall ambiance brilliant. Will definitely be back if back in Cornwall again

Best mussels I have ever had! The sauce is amazing, just the right amount of seasoning and it’s not too overwhelming that you can still taste the how fresh the mussels are. The fried octopus is perfect (not thickly coated) and the fries are delicious. A bit long of a wait but it’s definitely worth it!

Quirky little outdoor eatery with harbour front seating and fresh seafood, it's a lovely place to sit, eat, drink and relax watching the sun go down. I've been waiting to go here since we didn't have time on our last Cornwall trip 2 years ago and I say it didn't disappoint! The mussels were the best I've had. I would highly recommend a visit. It was busy when we went but we managed to get a table.

Completely blown away by the quality of food here. Don’t get put off by the “rough” service you may receive or the look of the shack from the outside. It was at this location where I enjoyed the best mussels in my life. The mussels on their own are so fresh and sweet I felt like I could have eaten them without the white wine sauce and they would have still been fine. I honestly thought that the many reviews saying they would come back to Cornwall just for the mussels alone were a stretch. However, after trying it for myself, I can back these feelings completely.

Visited Cornwall for a short holiday and heard good things about mussel shoal. My boyfriend hates seafood but I managed to convince him to eat here, was not disappointed, he had the dirty fries and chorizo bites. 🤌 I had the crabby crab and prawn dirty fries. 🥵 It was honestly the nicest food I’ve had in a long time! And the nicest food we had during our stay. Portion sizes were great sadly couldn’t finish it all, as much as I wanted to! The location itself was a great vibe, nice music and was even made cosy in the bad weather with blankets and an outdoor heater. Wish there was a mussel shoal on the Isle of Wight x

So delicious. You will not be disappointed. I had the mussels and my husband had the chowder and both were so flavoursome. I can honestly say they were the best mussels I’ve had in a very long time. The chef was also very diligent with my allergy request and love all the recyclable packaging and cutlery.

It may be a bit of a wait for the food, but it was genuinely worth it. The food was amazing. The mussels were so tender, with a beautifully rich sauce.
