AMAZING. Trotting around Porthleven on our last day of our annual Cornwall staycation, in the pouring rain with two toddlers when we found ourselves here...I'm so glad we stumbled across it because the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the service was on point, the food was DELICIOUS and to top it off, they have a family room (happy toddlers, happy mummy) full of toys where they can entertained themselves instead of being trapped in a highchair! Would highly recommend - I can't wait to re-visit because the duck breast ramen is on my priority list

OMG!!!!! What can I say!!!! Stunning food (We had 4 starters each, a couple of sides, a dessert each, a liqueur coffee each & alcohol), down to earth, fun atmosphere & fantastic staff you can have a laugh with..... cannot recommend this place enough, it's fantastic!!!!

Lovely food & drink from friendly staff. Complementary to Kota (which we very much enjoyed last night), with a "bistro" atmosphere. Definitely recommend you book, as the place is very popular. Both with locals and visitors.

The food was gorgeous. My kids finished all their food. Our Laksa was delicious. This is the third time we've been since it has opened, and it is still somewhere we couldn't visit Cornwall without having a meal there. Highly recommend it.

Top grub. Laksa was decent, fish and chips was a healthy portion, and the cauliflower starter was banging. Couple of good beers on tap too.

Three of us had a meal last night and all were very impressed. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The ambience was lovely and the restaurant felt spacious and tastefully decorated. Great view. The Laksa was delicious. Would certainly recommend. Also, they had Doom zero which was a real bonus. Thank you.

Lots of wonderful drink options to try, (got recommended a spicy cocktail which was unlike anything I've had before! Really delicious and refreshing). Food was gorgeous - Soft shell crab bun was especially heavenly and the steak main was cooked to perfection. Everything came out in great time and the staff were ever so attentive and polite. Been here a few times before and it's never failed to produce a great evening! 🥂

Incredibly lucky they had a cancellation otherwise it's a substantial waiting list, if you want to go I'd advise booking in considerable advance of actually going. Atmosphere is relaxed and informal, no need to dress up for the occasion; however, the food is as good as any high end restaurant I've been too. The food is essentially Asian or Asian inspired but using the freshest and best Cornish produce. We initially shared prawn crackers...I have a passionate hatred for prawn crackers due to them being oily and unpleasant; however, Kota Kai's are utterly delicious, I could eat them every single day. I had tempura oysters with wasabi mayonnaise, pork stock ramen with pork belly and we shared desserts, a raspberry cheesecake, rhubarb panna cotta, sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate brownie, all of which were superb. Kitchen is open and if you're close enough you can see your food being prepared. The staff are great, really friendly and chatty which makes a massive difference to the overall experience. Absolutely worth booking if you want something a bit different.

Excellent lunch which probably covers our dinner today! We couldn’t hold back on the small plate options, really tasty Asian touch on local fish produce, great service and dining space! Recommended!

The kitchen bar is exactly that and not a Michelin restaurant but the food is amazing. The portion are small (two pieces of pork belly for one dish) but the taste was wonderful. We only had small plates to share but it was enough without feeling stuffed.

Fantastic casual alternative to Kota, perfect for kids (they even had cutlery for our little one!). Wonderful having different flavours as an option in Porthleven. The Singapore bun was extraordinary.

Great dinner. All dishes have a great spice side to them. Thai / South sea style to the cooking, using local produce. Oh and great cocktail drinks too.

Great place. Awesome service and made very welcome. The place was buzzing. A wedding going on, full service and the staff were rocking it. Sat and chilled out smashing the cocktails for an hour before we went to our table. Well looked after.. food was delicious. Wine delightful. Price ok. All in all well worth a visit.

We had such a wonderful evening at Kota Kai. Relaxed and informal, but the food was exceptional. We enjoyed two small plates as starters to share, followed by a main each and a dessert to share - we were stuffed! Highly recommend the Kai Mojito, and soft shell crab bao bun - truly delicious! Thanks to all at Kota Kai

We both had a wonderful meal here with full of flavour. Our starters of scallops and spicy prawns were outstanding. My wife had the battered fish and I had the chicken massaman curry for mains which were both excellent. We had to share a pudding as we had little room for a third course. The staff are brilliant and the place has a good atmosphere with the restaurant overlooking the harbour. Bliss. Had to visit here again and had another excellent meal. This time we both had king prawn starters - one with salt and pepper the other with chilli. For our mains we both had the fearherblade steak followed by the sticky toffee pudding. Amazing!
