Had yet another faultless meal at Kota last night. Both staff and food were fantastic.
The amuse-bouche were incredible and worthy of being on the menu as a dish. The crab starter and steak main were sublime and all rounded off with a chocolate fondant to die for.! Why this place does not have a Michelin star I just don’t know. Will define back. Thank you.
Best meal I have ever had.! I love food, but sometimes with children and family, eating out is not the best. Not here!!! Front of house staff were wonderful, helpful and prepared to serve kids food. Our lot as usual had fish, fish andshellfish with of course a lot of pudding. Us adults well, gourmet isn't a good enough description. Beautiful starters, elegant presentation, wonderful lobster and crab and the duck was magnificent. I will be back. I promise the 1300 mile long trip was worth every penny. Krj
We had an amazing meal on the Saturday for mothers day and we had a lovely meal as a family, the staff were extremely friendly and the lady who greeted us for our booking was lovely my son had ordered a hot chocolate and the cream was making a bit of a mess so she brought him a spoon, plate and serviettes to help. All staff are a credit to the restaurant and we will definitely visit again when we come to Cornwall next to see my parents.
Tonight we had two celebrations, my 50th birthday and a "Bon Voyage" to our very special friends leaving Porthleven.
Front of house was exceptional, followed by an exceptional menu of local produce, and wine from around the world.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. *****
Amazing flavours brought together on each plate, 3 of us swapped fork fulls of our choices of meals, so glad we all went for very different meals, from mussels, beef, scallops, brill, lamb and pork. Then the puddings came out ...oh my life... apple sorbet and so much more, chocolate mousse thing with so many delicious other things. The whole experience of fine food, relaxed atmosphere was brilliant. I have eaten here on every visit to Porthleven, 4 times in all and rate this restaurant as number 1 in my favourite places to eat in Cornwall Food and location makes it 5 stars from me .
Some of the best food we have ever eaten and the staff were so so good to our very tired 5 year old. Made him feel just as important as any other customer, and that means a lot to us.
The food was amazing and the wine recommendation was spot on. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and we will be visiting again as soon as possible.
Thank you Kota for a lovely meal, served with a friendly smile x

Intimate bijou dinning of the highest order, everything about this place is excellent. The food, drink, staff, decor, menus, amuse-bouche and heavenly bread and butter (you have to taste them) superlatives really do not do them justice. The set menu is a thing of such exquisite taste that the person who put it together surely invented fine dinning.
Yes it's really that good :) :) :)
Get yourself down to Porthleven toute de suite
I highly advise booking first to avoid the disappointment of the damned that you will feel if you can't get in.
I went here for dinner last night and am blown away by how good it was!!!!! In my top 3 best meals ever, way better than some 1 & 2 michelin restaurants I have been to
Michelin need to give you a star or 2
Superb inventive food beautifully presented and enough to make a good meal without extras the staff were funny and good service without being formal .we will be back many times
tonight we celebrated sue & scotty 10 wedding anniversary we have been here on a couple of occasions since we all moved down to Cornwall . as always the food was very well presented and every course all of us we're scraping the plates trying to get as much out of the great flavours as possible. Staff are all very friendly and having a with us which made a very convivial evening this won't be the last visit from us all thanks Kota
The set menu was really great value but I chose from the al a carte to have a greater selection. The oysters were wonderful, a fabulous duck main course and pear with blue cheese ice cream for desert. Some of these were not dishes I would normally choose but I made exactly the right choice ! Top that off with great wine and a wonderful friendly service and the result is very happy customers. We will return with our family and friends !! Thanks
Dined at Kora tonight for the first time with Angie Watt and tried the taster menu, what can I say was just absolutely lovely xxx
Clever chef and informative staff - well worth a visit
It was amazing! Tempura oysters were orgasmic! Sevice great ! The best meal we have ever had!!!
Great food & great service in an unhurried atmosphere about sums up Kota. The staff are very pleasant and help make a great evening. You would no doubt have to book a table in advance and this restaurant wins awards because it is so good. Small tasters are provided before the starters and speciality breads brought round and topped up if wanted. The courses themselves are excellent quality, and we only had the set menu for which we would have paid more and still said it was great value. Now we need to go back and start from the main menu :)
We had a fantastic meal here last night. The food was superb. We had the six course tasting menu and each dish was unusual and packed with flavour. Local produce was used and we left very happy. Would definitely return.
Delicious. We travelled 500miles to sample the food of Jude Kereama, and it was worth the trip. Well worth it. I would have loved to have met him but alas, the food was the point 😊 Amazing service, great wine, great rooms and a great welcome.
We had the 6-course tasting menu with paired wines and it’s certainly one of the best food experiences I have had. The dishes were creative, tasty, filling, and amazingly presented, and the wines were out of this world, but the staff and restaurant are friendly and not at al pretentious. It’s not cheap at £120 all-in for the 6 courses and paired wines, but fully worth it for an incredible food experience.
Fantastic food. We had the four course tasting menu and everything on it was superb. Delightful staff who never missed a beat and an excellent location at the head of the harbour.
Excellent food, great wine pairings and super friendly - a real treat. Highly recommended.
Very good food but not without faults. This is a fine dining restaurant so my review is adjusted for that. Starter snacks used fine ingredients like lobster but their taste was lost due to spices or other ingredients overshadowing them. I could feel the texture but couldn't taste the lobster. The main dish - sea bass was wonderful. I could taste it was cooked on coal, the brown crab meat sauce that came with it was delicious. However the already small piece of fish came with ONE new potato. I almost laughed and wanted to check the menu again if it said new potatoeS or new potatO. I understand the concept of fine dining, but if I order 4 course menu (effectively snack, starter, main, desert) I expect to get a decent sized meal and ONE potato is taking it one step too far. It's not a prized ingredient - it's just a potato.. The menu lists sides, but if a dish comes with potatoes why would I need to order sides? The food is great and michellin star worthy, but there's just not enough of it. Desert was nice but the rhubarb ice cream was way too sour. I liked the use of merangue as texture.
Went in for a tasting menu (6 course) with one of us having the vegetarian option, and one the meat options.
The dishes were well presented and interesting. The beetroot and nettlecurd dish felt a little out of place as it's so sweet compared to the rest, and I can't help feeling it would have made a better dessert than mid-menu dish. We shared one wine pairing, which was a little heavily leaned on whites for my taste and only one red served with a chicken dish which was an odd combination but nicely managed. Overall a really lovely experience, and the service was great especially as we were amongst the last tables left in the restaurant. I will note that the tasting menu is longer than expected, we found ourselves there for nigh on 3 hours.
For three years we have been trying to get book a table and finally got one , the food, place ,and staff absolutely fabulous can't wait to go back.
seasonal , creative and really delicious food. Very helpful with different dietary requirements, options to have a 4 or 6 course meal. Service delightful and efficient , highly recommend
What an amazing night we had recently . Couldn’t fault the fantastic 6 course tasting menu and wine flight . Wonderful service and very knowledgeable staff. We will be back soon!
