The Cormorant is a lovely, friendly, family run local pub and restaurant. Always a warm welcome from Doug and Diane. The food is cooked fresh to order which does mean a slight wait but it is worth it as you are treated to fresh tasting home cooked food. If you have any room left, desserts are to die for! There is an ever changing specials board which is always worth checking out, with seasonal choices available. I love the choice of beers and there is a guest ale available from Thursdays, this week a personal favourite Pompey Glory! The staff are an excellent team and will endeavour to make your visit relaxed and enjoyable.
What a fantastic welcome. Popped in for a sandwich after a dog walk such a great place and very dog friendly.... food And service was amazing!
Would just like to thanks Mick and Deb for a lovely evening last night holding an amazing quiz night and raffle in aid of my son Freddie. The staff were amazing . Such a lovely warm welcoming place , Will definitely be returning again amazing people. Thanks for everything love Jade, Freddie and family xx
Had the fish and chips on Thurs evening and it was gorgeous. Had a small portion but was so filling xx pub itself was so welcoming and relaxed, could have sat on all evening except we were over for a wedding and had to get back for the party there!!!!
Friendly, welcoming and cosy, with great food and a lovely atmosphere. Dog friendly too. Our dog won't let us walk past without popping in for a pint!
Never in 3 years ever had a bad meal everyone has been outstanding and the staff are great to chat with
Simply cannot fault this excellent little pub.
We arrived with our little dog to discover two tables are on reserve for dog owners. Service was exemplary, happy, welcoming and helpful staff.
Food was just exquisite and the drinks on offer pleasing.
Am not usually so easy to please but the Cormorant ticked every box for us.
We were a party of five (inc. dog) and we left very satisfied and cheerful indeed!
Great Sunday lunch, lovely vegetables and good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and the best thing I didn't have to cook or wash up
Delicious food and lovely staff!! Really enjoyed our evening to celebrate my Dad's birthday.....cheers Deb and Mick xx
Always helpful and friendly, with superb food, the Cormorant is our favourite place to eat, especially when we have visitors. Love the setting and ambience.
Visited today, yummy roast, friendly staff. Child friendly! Can't recommend enough!
I have only recently started going there. It's a really nice friendly pub /restaurant. The food is so much better than most other pubs and friendly staff. My friends love it and we plan on having a Christmas meal there
Very busy, food was a good portion and freshly cooked. Puddings looked bought in but again plenty of it.
Slow to get the bill and had to ask twice. Dogs allowed in some parts and one barked on and off throughout the meal.
Lovely pub, good food and selection of food & beers. Highly recommend it. The only annoyance was the young man who greeted us and served us who insisted I calling a mixed sex group ‘guys’ not just once or twice but during every interaction - often 2 or 3 times! I know that young people think it a universal term for both sexes but it’s not and it grates.
A solid English pub with attentive service and a good atmosphere located near the castle.
The staff were friendly and responsive, and they’re highly commended. We enjoyed the setting generally.
Food was average pub fare for England and reasonably pricey, so less stars for us.
A lovely lunch while visiting Portchester to see the castle.
We hadn't made a booking and it was busy, but were told there was a table and food would be about a 40 minute wait!
It turned out to be correct but the staff were efficient and polite under alot of pressure. They coped very well and never stopped.
The lunch was delicious. Worth the wait for home made steak and kidney pie and biscoff cheesecake!
Would certainly visit again!
We just held a wake here, which was superb. The staff were amazing, so friendly, helpful and so on the ball. They absolutely catered for a mix of dietary requirements, beautifully presented and served…..so tasty, everyone commented. There were 25 of us and the price was extremely reasonable. Great parking, outside seating and a wonderful atmosphere.
The Cormorant is a lovely and cozy pub, tastefully decorated, with a quiet, friendly atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. The food is really delicious, our whole family enjoyed it very much!
Very good fish and chips course, abundant and tasty. Staff is extremely friendly and always smiling. The service was quite fast, also very attentive. I tried also the chocolate fudge cake, with the ice-cream, it was quite big! The atmosphere of the plce is quiet and cozy, it is possible to eat inside or even outside (today it was quite windy, so I decided to have a table inside). Prices are resonable and this place has a good quality price ratio. Overall a very good experience!
Fantastic old world pub....the steak pie, full of succulent meat and gravy, one of best I have ever tasted. Great service. Lovely atmosphere and all within a stones throw of Porchester Castle.
A lovely little pub on the south coast in a quiet part of portsmouth, portchester. There were some great beer selections and the sandwiches we had were first rate. The staff looked after us well and the menu board means we will return for one of their cooked meals
Good food, personally thought meat portions on the Sunday roast dinner bit on the small considering it was £15, good quality food and nice friendly service. Didn't see or use rooms, still gave 5 stars as I didn't want to affect overall rating.
I had an excellent meal (Sunday Roast) with my parents. Friendly and helpful staff, and there was a good selection of beers, including local ones. It's worth booking a table at Weekends. It was part of an excellent day visiting Portchester Castle.
I Came with some family and friends for a lovely Sunday dinner, was welcomed by a lovely young man named Joey at the door who was quick to attend to us and help us in anyway he could. We were served very quickly and had got our food and drink shortly after being served. The food was lovely and drinks were top notch. We Will definitely be returning.
The Cormorant was well above expectations ,Good menu selection, for Adults and children. Food was excellent as was the service by Izzy .
Very clean toilets shell be going to Sundy Lunch.
Had our first Sunday roast here today having eaten here before midweek. I have to say the food was excellent. Matched by the really nice staff. Will be back real soon.
A really welcoming and friendly pub. The beer on tap is always good and the food is also of a good standard. The bar staff are always friendly and attentive even when they're clearly busy.
Late midweek lunch. Not been here for many years. Great selection on menu, no problems being 2pm. Staff attentive, food portion very good. Really lovely meal, would recommend.
We love this place, it really has a lovely atmosphere, food is always good especially Sunday roasts. Don't expect cheap and nasty as it's neither. Quality ingredients and always tasty.
Had a lovely meal here before a short journey to the ferry port. Good food, service and prices in a great environment
