We had an outstanding meal and wine night here last week. Food was amazing to look at and to eat and each wine was a perfect match for the dish. I have been craving the coffee creme brulee since. Great ambiance with friendly staff. Only down side was it was dark when we arrived so never got to see the stunning view, nothing else for it We will need to return.
I have been lucky enough to have been at the Lake Hotel twice this week for lunch. Once with close friends made since moving to Thornhill 11 yrs ago and today with two friends from hockey days. Known them both going on 30+ yrs.
mushroom risotto is to die for and a scoop of Katie Roger’s ice cream with toffee sauce to finish, delic’.
Recommend, friendly staff, lovely scenic setting and relaxed atmosphere.
Back from an absolute cracker of a night at this hotel. Weather and hotel was superb. The staff are so nice from being welcomed to when we checked out they were always asking if everything was okay. Stayed in a classic room on a bed & breakfast basis. Room was very clean & lovely decorated. Bathroom could do with an upgrade but it was fine and the power shower made up for it. Had a nice view of the church from our picturesque bedroom window. The Tunnocks treats left in the room is a nice touch. The hotel put on a complementary cream tea so when you check in you can help yourself to homemade scones with cream & jam a lovely touch and the scones were delicious.
The hotel outlook could not be in a better place with stunning views over the lake. We picked the best night to go as the clocks had just gone forward so it was light for a further hour.
We went for dinner and watched the sun set the colour of the sky was magnificent very romantic. Our meal was lovely. We had a comfortable stay and had breakfast in the conservatory the next day. Again the food and staff were lovely. This was an offer booked through 5pm website it was well worth the money and we would certainly like to return to the hotel. Thank you for a lovely night it was just perfect
Fantastic hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. The extra touches like offering complimentary afternoon tea and scones sets it apart from similar star hotels. Evening meal was delicious and I could just about manage to eat my full Scottish breakfast as I still felt full from night before. Room was tastefully decorated and bed so big and comfortable the views of the lake were beautiful would definitely recommend.
The staff were thoroughly professional and down to earth, the food was amazing and the view is inspiring. A true hidden gem =]
First class meal & a magnificent view of the Lake. A must to visit if you’re in the area even just for a drink.
Cracking 2 night stay, arrived late on the Friday but still managed to have dinner. Both nights the food was exceptional. Compliments to the chef! We stayed in Room 2, beautifully decorated and the bed is a dream. The view over the lake was stunning. The Bathroom is large and has the added touch of a roll top bath as well as stand alone shower. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. My only disappointment was the Lager taps were off on the first night and weren't fixed until 6pm on the 2nd! But hey, these things happen. Saturday afternoon was spent on the lawn overlooking the lake, glorious weather made it even better! A truly brilliant weekend was had. Keep up the great work
A beautiful and characterful hotel overlooking Scotland's only Lake (All the others are lochs). Amazing views to the Priory in the middle of the lake. Also fishing on the lake. Serene! We have visited the hotel many times for food - cosy bar with log fire or conservatory with views onto the lake - and have never been disappointed. Finest Scottish produce cooked to perfection - including venison, seafood etc - the best from Scotland's larder. Has local ales and good selection of malt whiskies. Well worth a visit. I have not stayed overnight but it looks fantastic.
A very friendly welcome at this gem by the lake. Comfortable rooms, delicious food and excellent view. Loved the cream tea and the welcome of a roaring fire in the bar.
Very nice place to stay and the food is great.
Would recommend it to all
What a little gem. Spent 2 nights at the hotel and it was excellent. The staff were lovely. Professional and helpful. The room cosy and comforting. And the view.....
We were lucky with the weather and able to sit outside with a drink and watch the sun set. Will definitely be back.
We had a fantastic lunch yesterday, we were celebrating our 53rd wedding anniversary, great food, great table and view and we will be back
We stayed for one night in the Osprey Room. The room was lovely. Every nice touch you can think of was there from the pod tea and coffee pots to bottled water and tunnocks biscuits. The rooms may not be completely wheel chair disabled friendly but they are definitely restricted mobility friendy. I mainly use a whhel chair but can walk short distances with crutches so everything was good in that respect. I couldn't access the bath but i knew in advance this was not possible.
The hotel itself was lovely. Clean and very inviting.
The meals were wonderful. Kudos to the kitchen staff. Gorgeous !
Then we get to the front of house staff. From the receptionists to the waiting staff and bar staff. You are phenomenal. Kindness above and beyond. Tolerant, helpful and just down right nice to boot ! I waited the day in the hotel whilst my husband attended the nearby Nick Nairn cook school. The staff were brilliant. Passing chatter, assurance i wasn't in their road . You made my time fly by for which i was grateful.
We will be back and i am so looking forward to it.
