Had an early evening meal with family. Thankfully we had booked, because it was packed. Table service only, which was great. Attentive and friendly staff. The steak and ale pie was amazing! One of the best I've ever had. No room for pud. Would definitely return.

Cannot fault this place one bit. Very friendly staff who don't pester you constantly throughout your meal by asking if everything's OK every 2 minutes, gorgeous food, big portions & very fairly priced. Dog friendly too

Stopped by on a whim on the way home for tea and so glad we did. It's a beautiful village. Staff were lovely, attentive, and accommodating. Asked them to rush my very grumpy toddlers order, and it was out in minutes, and better yet, she loved it. The pie was amazing, and the flavours blew me away. Even the cabbage was beautiful, so flavourful it tasted like Christmas. I can not express how much you need to try it, but please do. Everything tasted amazing, and the service was great. The staff were clearly happy to be there, interacting with my toddler while they went back and forth, which makes all the difference. Thank you, we will definitely be back and recommend.

Really enjoyed eating here. We had a cosy table and a friendly and efficient waitress. The food was delicious and well presented. We were lucky to get a seat without booking and I would recommend reserving a table in visiting at weekends. Definitely worth a try.

Really dog friendly. Great selection of ales and a happy hour too.. plenty seating and really warm welcome . Maybe have to book for a meal though as it is really popular for good reason. Will be back for a meal for sure, can't wait.

Came for tea and a couple drinks. Best salt and pepper squid and chicken wings ever! Staff really attentive and friendly. Great pub and location, central in Pooley bridge. Lovely food. Came to our table to bring drinks and food and pay. Didnt get up! Helped as we had two dogs and was busy. Lovely atmosphere and be back again. Thank you we'll be back tomorrow

Been twice in a week for dinner. Excellent food (quality, portions size, price), good ales, nice ambience, very friendly helpful staff (special shout out for Immy). Only minor gripe is when dogs inside start barking it can get noisy. Loved the place.

We stayed one night here just after Christmas. It's a lovely building and the location is perfect. The room was lovely, clean and cosy, with modern bathroom. They also provide fresh milk for brews too, which is much better than the little plastic capsules. We had an evening meal here and breakfast too. The evening meal was very tasty, but I ordered two different red wines and I'm sure they were exactly the same. The breakfast was great!

I recently stayed overnight at this hotel and was thoroughly impressed. The hotel looks lovely with its old English style. Room was cozy, had its own unique character and very clean. The view of lush greenery from the room was a surprise. The USB charging ports in the rooms were a lifesaver, especially since I had forgotten my charging plug. Hotel’s restaurant is located downstairs. They serve well prepared food and drinks from the bar. During my visit, there was live music. The restaurant has seating both indoors and outdoors, making it ideal for events or parties. What stood out the most was the staff’s friendliness and attention to customer care. The breakfast staff, in particular, were prompt and provided excellent table service. Breakfast is available from 8 am to 9:30am. For guests driving in, the hotel provides free car parking, which adds to the convenience. Overall, this hotel is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting the area.

Had a lovely 2 night midweek stay. The room was definitely a highlight. It was decorated lovely and the selection of hot drinks in the room was really good. The bed was comfy and Toni did a great job cleaning our room after the first day, it was immaculate. The only issue with the room which isn’t anyone’s fault is that the walls must be quite thin as you can hear every noise outside the room and also every word spoken in the room next door even when they weren’t being loud. We had a room with a door that could connect to the room next door so not sure if this was the issue. It did stop us being able to sleep on night one, but again isn’t the staff’s fault and slept better on the second night when things were quieter. We had 2 breakfasts and 1 evening meal while we were there plus desserts and drinks and everything was really nice. The meals and drinks were priced similar to those in the area. The building itself is beautiful and cosy, a great atmosphere on a night. The staff were all very helpful, the women serving breakfasts were all so lovely and welcoming and Jack who checked us in and served us was so friendly and accommodating. Would definitely consider bringing my dog in future as many around us did. Only about a 10 minute drive from Keswick and the parking was a relief as it was free and plenty of space. Overall, a great stay and would definitely come back.
