Black bull is a hidden gem! We went tonight and after one meal, it is my favourite pub!! The garden is stunning and very well-kept. The deals are insane! 4 meals (including steak) for £22. The food was delicious, with generous portions. The staff are so happy and friendly. The owner with lovely, very down to earth and our compliments were greatly received. You could not fault the pub, the food or the people there. �
Food was very good and the staff were very welcoming, even opened up ten mins early so we wasn't standing out in the cold,defo recommend xx

Been here twice in last 2 days staff are amazing the foods great also kid friendly , allergy conscious too aswell as dog friendly so could take the kids and Stella the dog. Would deffo recommend to anyone. Great prices too. We will be back !
Absolutely amazing place. The drinks are reasonably priced, it's clean, it's welcoming, the food is out of this world quality wise, the staff are friendly and polite, and David and Ali would do anything for you. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

The Black Bull is a nice traditional pub. There is a good selection of beers, lager and cider, including two cask conditioned hand pulled, real ales farmers blonde and doom bar. There are three rooms and an outside seating area at the back. The beer was excellent, and the food menu looked very tempting, although we didn't try the food on our visit. It's a dog friendly pub.

Before I first walked in properly into they Black Bull, one of the bar ladies, I noticed, was watching me enter into they drinking place, but still, I had entered in there.
I walked in, too, met with 3 others in the bar at they time and I believe they were planning on ordering food, so I had gone through mu options in the menu for myself and I was sent to they Bar. I ordered any drinks and food at the time, so non alcoholic and a Heineken. I had 2 of those and had waited for it to arrive.
Whilst I was drinking and chatting and waiting for food they Bar lady at they time there appeared to be watching our table quite a lot more, but we carried on waiting and chatting.
And then our food arrived she had picked up on they fact that they food you will eat on they plate will be hot and mentioned it to myself, which in a way I do get a lot from many places I eat in.
And then we were eating, and at the time, we were discussing radiators in properties and Gas and electric utility bills, and they bar lady did approach our table and believed we were still on they subjects of hot plates or hot food items but I mentioned no just Radiators.
Very friendly service and welcoming.
Good food fish and chips well cooked and tasty. Meat pie and peas and runner beans and mashed potatoe again great and to finish it all off two lovely large cups of coffee and two hot milks.
Would definitely go again.

Found this place by accident....we will be back soon. Excellent steak and chips plus an amazing choc/ orange desert. Great British pub atmosphere 👌

12 of us popped in for impromptu lunch, manager very engaging and polite, young lady working the bar and serving food was very nice (young boys have a bit of a crush on her so we will be going back).
Food was excellent, I had a steak salad, steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, not a single bit of gristle or fat, have paid 3x as much in a well known chain steak house and got a steak that was no better in terms of quality and flavour, if this pub wasn’t 250 miles from home, I’d have to eat out there every week.
A real gem in the middle of Pocklington, had a Etonian mess Waffle for dessert, just the right balance of sweet and sharp, freshly cooked warm waffle was just the right side of chewy, strawberries tart and fresh, not just a plate of spray cream and sauce.
Really can’t say enough good things, exceptional value for money.
Best of all, toilets were spotlessly clean, a real positive experience after a recent visit to York that cost 40p to use a toilet that would have doubled up as part of the set from Transporting.
Go there, take the family and enjoy a good meal, decent pint and warm service
Such a nice pub. They're all nice and the staff are great people.
Visited for lunch and found both inside and outside areas pleasant. Ordered two meals for £14 and both were lovely. Desserts also lovely and different to the usual offerings. Staff friendly. Would absolutely visit again!
So we passed through Pocklington and found this little gem!! The barman was so friendly and helpful also kudos to the chef! The burgers were devine, one of the best steaks I've ever had! If you are nearby it's worth a visit! Thank you for our fantastic lunch. What a way to start the bank holiday weekend :)
Called in on the off chance on way to our holiday. Pub was very welcoming, food excellent. Thank you to the lady behind the bar who made such a fuss of our dog, Hardy. She gave him loads of treats and water, almost eating as well as us. We liked it so much that we called in for a second time the following day. Recommended.
