Reviews The Miners Arms

First time there yesterday, we enjoyed it, nice place, decent food, would definitely go back - especially in the summer to use what looks like a great beer garden with a cracking view. Couple of small negatives such as our roast dinner was lukewarm... But it was a decent size, big portion of meat (I had beef) with unlimited veg, worth the slightly high price... The gravy was especially delicious 👌

This is me & my fiancé's favourite place to go in Plymouth! Can't recommend The Miners Arms enough! We usually go on a weekday (before 7), and enjoy the 3 course set menu with a pint of Rattler... Food is always out super fast, and is always cooked to perfection. Many compliments to the chef, and waitresses/waiters are also always very friendly and attentive. Please don't let bad reviews stray you away from this little HIDDEN GEM! The food is truly delicious...

What’s not to like?! This is a beautiful old pub with original features, but with a very tasteful addition of a fabulous conservatory restaurant. The menu is imaginative and varied, and there’s a kids menu too. Children are made very welcome by the lovely, friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble for them. There is a big garden with a play area, and the views on a fine day are glorious. Unfortunately when I visited today with my daughter Carla Blacker and my Grandson Bobby it was foggy and rainy, but I have visited previously and so I know that it is fantastic outside on a sunny day. Big car park, well signposted from Newnham, Plympton...oh, and dogs are very welcome but not in the restaurant for obvious reasons! Thanks so much to the lovely staff who really made our lunch visit very special!

lovely Sunday lunch , GF catered for , they said they are working on cauliflower cheese and yorkshire puddings to include them in their GF lunch , very friendly staff , just a little slow and on a busy day could do with another waiter/waitress.

I had the most amazing meal today with my closest friends to celebrate my birthday! Food was fantastic, service was welcoming and they were very happy to go that extra mile to help make my birthday even more special! Thank you to all the guys behind the scene that made my birthday! They don’t get enough credit! Cheers! x

Popped in for a drink after daughters birthday party in the village hall. Fantastic play area and garden for kids to have endless fun in the sun. Lovely chips, hardworking, helpful staff, clean toilets, lovely views. Even a paddock for riders to leave ponies. Went back for lunch and bank holiday fun today - 2 bouncy castles, face painter and amazing sunshine again. Tasty lunch in the garden this time. Just stunning and could have stayed all day. Staff worked hard and were friendly. Thank you.

Love this pub , it’s walking distance from our home , when the weather is good . Excellent food and staf are friendly and accommodating. The bar has a traditional feel to it , great atmosphere and good beer whiskey and wine , what more can you ask ....

A top quality, high cuisine restaurant. Locally sourced fresh food cooked to perfection. It isn't cheap, and the menu is quite limited, so you need an open mind. Service is excellent, as is the dining room. The restaurant is on the side of the pub, which is a nice local pub type place. The dining room is basically a conservatory, but not a cheap one. My wife loves the chunky chips (which come stacked like Jenga pieces) and I love duck or beef. One of the premier places to eat in the city.

First time at this pub on a Saturday lunchtime. Really lovely garden and atmosphere. Lots of parking. Everyone enjoyed their food. The service from the 2 young girls was friendly and efficient. We would definitely come back here again. 1 star off for first impressions from the not so friendly young chap behind the bar.

Good carvery, some had the beef which I'm told was the best they've had. I ordered Pork, which was Lamb when they brought it out but Lamb wasn't even on the menu so not sure how they managed that

Only stopped off for a pint after visiting dartmoor zoo. Lovely outside beer garden, they were too busy to serve anymore food but it did look amazing and tasty.

Very friendly service. Food took a while to come out but was hot and portion sizes were good. Our waitress offered to bring out our children's meals quicker i think she may have heard them saying they are hungry, it was a nice touch. Overall a great meal out.

I have found my favourite spot in Plymouth! What a beautiful beer garden with gorgeous views. Ample seating and also an enclosed play park with benches there so I could watch my little girl play whilst having my meal. Really friendly staff. & of course an amazing menu with a good variety of food to chose from. I would recommend the home made beer battered fish finger sandwich. Lots of parking too.

Had the best meal we’ve had for ages. Beef stroganoff for my husband and aubergine roulade for me. Such a nice change for the veggie option NOT to be mushroom risotto or something with goats cheese. This was absolutely delicious and we really felt the chef cared about how his food tasted and not just the presentation. Desserts also couldn’t be faulted. Waitresses friendly and efficient. Would go back there definitely.
