Absolutely love this quirky pub, what a great place to stay. Tim was a great host. The room was lovely and clean and tidy and very comfy, Tim made up the sofa bed just before we arrived to make it more comfy for two friends staying together. I loved the vintage pieces of furniture, gave the room ch
Stayed a couple of nights here whilst visiting Salcombe. Close enough to Salcombe to drive there in 10 minutes but away from the madness and crowds of Salcombe. Room was ideal for one person, clean and with a big newly renovated bathroom, good size TV and kettle. Quiet at night Very nice host who pr
Lovely pub and the steak was outstanding. Friendly and competent bar staff and really enjoyed the "Penguins" live music on the Saturday night. Thank you all.
Fantastic and proper pub, with quirky vibe and lovely characters both sides of the bar
Had a fabulous steak meal 😋 cooked to perfection, highly recommended 👌
My wife and I stay in Malborough 3 of 4 times a year so we know the area very well. This pub is fantastic. I had possibly one of the nicest fish and chips I’ve ever had there. Beautifully cooked fish, batter not too heavy. Seriously good. And wonderfully lovely and friendly staff. Thanks so much!!!
Proper Pub, great beers and service family friendly
On holiday here for few days. Tried various pubs locally but just really loved this one. Its not prestine its not formal. It is quirky but the food and local ale were excellent as was the friendliness of the staff and customers. If i was here longer id definatelty be back to this one.
Let's start by saying the food was fine, but not as pictured on the website. The website says the menu changes daily but this is clearly not the case, see photo of painted blackboard. Staff friendly and welcoming, food was good value, just not what we expected.
Tim is a great host, produced a lovely meal at reasonable prices
We love this pub amd visit it every time we come down the landlord is fabulous and a true character which matches the character of the pub. You won't be disappointed here and a great pint too
Shout out for Roxanne. Thanks for the hospitality.
A last minute quiet break, craving some peace and quiet away from the crowds and some wonderful walks. Superb position with easy access to amazing walks by the coast and very comfy stay with a wonderful, interesting host and friendly pub dog. Perfect stay for us. Also, couldn't have been more helpf
A little bit different from most standard corporate pubs. Packed with different things all around the bar areas as well as a selection of hand pumped beers at the bar and a wide range of other drinks. A very welcoming pub and the steak meals are also very good, I have tried quite a few over years. S
Lovely atmosphere interesting decor Good prices, pub food menu. Pet friendly. Iive music Would go again for an enjoyable evening.
I try to visit the RO from Thames Valley for a couple of days of R&R each year. This is an archetypical English pub with B&B rooms - not a 5star Hotel. And as such is a complete pleasure to be in. Tim, the Landlord, has created a unique brand of hospitality. Good beer, decent food (esp the steak) an
My partner and I have just spent a very enjoyable three nights at The Royal Oak. Our friendly host Tim looked after us well and his generous breakfasts were delicious. A great atmospheric pub, filled with many quirky artefacts, close to Hope Cove and Salcombe. Would definitely stay again!
Really old local pub. Full of character. The inside looks like it hasn't been touched in years. Very friendly welcome by the landlord.
