Went into The Mess Room this afternoon for a quick coffee and a bite to eat - despite only being open for a couple of days we were welcomed in by the lovely friendly staff! Had a lovely cup of coffee and a tasty toasted sandwich! A must visit if you're nearby or even worth travelling for

A great breakfast, very hot and tasty. The sausages are really good and meaty. The toast was well buttered, and vegetarian breakfast also very tasty I am told. Coffee also nice. Staff really helpful, good prices

The Mess Room is always reassuringly busy, great food and friendly staff. There are also some very interesting maritime artefacts to see. Recommended.

Mess room is ran by the best team. Beautiful food by beautiful people. If your coming by car DONT park like an idiot. Large machinery in operation. It’s a boatyard.

Great place. Good food, friendly staff. Sitting on the roof terrace in fine weather a particular pleasure. Toilets a long walk away if mobility an issue.

I have no idea who Big Will is, but his breakfast is outstanding. This place is a little gem, hidden by beautiful boats and a view of the river. Nothing is too much for the wonderful staff. You must visit, or visit their sister establishment, The Guard Room at Turnchapel.

We head for here whenever we're in the vicinity around lunchtime. It never disappoints with a good menu of nicely-prepared food, decent coffee and pleasant maritime surroundings (inside at least; outdoors is quite industrial). The only improvement I'd like to see is a better selection of cold drinks.

Such a lovely relaxed cafe, we visited here on my sons 21st just for breakfast. The food was incredible, the service was amazing and everyones food was piping hot (not kept just warm considering there was 8 of us!) They even went to the trouble of gifting my son a cake in a lovely 'happy 21st cake box' when they realised it was his birthday. And they have a roof top seating area too! def will be returning for more visits. Thankyou so much guys x

Enjoyed a splendid full English Breakfast. Served by friendly attentive staff. The Mess Room has been, locally, a well kept secret. But word has got out! As such it can get very very busy especially at weekends. Recommend you try and get there early if you are hunting down 'brekky'

The cafe itself was very nice just trying to find it was the hardest part not many signs do you get to the gate of the yard but you are parking so it's good

What a hidden gem! It is so nice to find somewhere that is not a chain and offers freshly cooked, good quality home made food at a reasonable price. My Mum has been a few times and brought me here for lunch... And I am so pleased she did. Great for food, excellent customer service and good for people/boat watching and dog friendly.
