Really lovely full refurbishment, warm & cosy with roaring fires, very professional friendly staff , had the curry which was great, love the toilets (always judge a place by their toilets 😂👍🏻) so good to have another local pub open again to visit, fully recommend !
Superb. Lovely to see this old pub very tastefully revamped. A couple of visits recently has left us feeling blessed this gem is on our doorstep. Top food, served by fantastic staff. The jail ale is amongst the best kept real ale I’ve tasted . Highly recommended. Thank you
We have eaten twice in one week food is amazing, staff are friendly and knowledgable on the food and drink. Decor is nice light and clutter free with two log burners so nice and warm at all times. We will be back xx

Absolutely stunning pub, friendly staff and customers, and food delicious, will be back this week sometime, thank you 🌶
Had an amazing breakfast at the Mussel Inn this morning. Staff are so friendly, had a lovely table by the wood burner. Definitely go back again. Thank you
Food was delicious, good sized portions and the staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely be visiting again and recommending The Muscle Inn
I love this place. Food was exceptional. I would highly recommend
Lovely pub, staff friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious.
Had a fantastic meal last night, looking forward to coming back again.
Loved it, great team, can't wait for my next visit!
I stayed here with some friends for a long weekend and had a wonderful time.
The scenery was absolutely stunning and the house was also beautiful. The bedrooms were roomy and comfortable, each with their own en suite. The kitchen and living room have all the appliances you could need for an enjoyable stay.
The hot tub was a lovely addition in the rear garden and was roomy enough to comfortably fit us all in.
The location was ideal for a short drive into the city centre or adventuring further in Devon or Cornwall.
Also, the pub was a welcoming, lovely place with a great outdoor seating area - perfect for the sunshine. The play park was also excellent and would also keep children well entertained.
I mean what a place……..
Where do I start, beautiful holiday homes for a fun filled weekend, and next door is this gem. A stunning spot set in the rural countryside filled with delicious food.
Stunning mussels, burgers, and Sunday roast, the food is even brought to you in your home, I mean come on! Staff is great too and very speedy.
Must try, and visit!!!!!!
Returning soon for more delightful food!
Three of us visited the Mussel Inn for lunch today and all three of us were overwhelmed by the superb quality of the three different meals we had so our compliments to the chef. Our visit will also be repeated in the near future because of the high standard of service we received from staff members Becka and Trinity who we would like to thank for their friendliness and professionalism.
Thank you all for a wonderful experience.
A lovely place to eat in the middle of nowhere. Pleasant surroundings and friendly and helpful staff. Marked down slightly as menu seemed limited but what we had was very nice fresh and tasty.
We hired a few tables on the terrace for my daughters baby shower,
We had a beautiful cream tea, the scones where freshly baked they tasted amazing, everyone said how fresh they where,
We also had a buffet style lunch spread, sandwiches, chips, vegetarian selection etc, all of it so tasty, 5 stars to the chefs.
All the staff are friendly polite and happy to help, they are all a lovely team.
The whole party had a lovely chilled out day, thank you to all the staff who helped make the day special.
I would say to anyone if you haven't visited yet you must go.
A good all round experience but make sure you sit in the main dining area rather than the little room at the far end of the bar.
We made a reservation online for our group of four. We all ordered the trio of meats, which came with turkey breast, leg of lamb, beef, swede mash, tenderstem broccoli, brussel sprouts (it was in this gratinated form which was VERY good), roasted potatoes, carrots, and a Yorkshire pudding. While all the meats were very good, the highlight is definitely the lamb. The beef and turkey are good, but not excellent. The veg are all top notch, particularly the swede mash and sprouts. The gravy had an interesting green tinge, but aside from that, nothing notable.
I highly recommend the lemon posset. The rhubarb and stem ginger really complement the lemon, which adds a very delicate flavor to the posset. I was genuinely surprised how much I liked it. The shortbread and dollop of ice cream that came with it were also great accompaniments.
I would definitely come back for the lamb roast + lemon posset. Though the chocolate mousse dessert also looks quite tempting.
Went here for date night after the husband was recommended by friends. I checked out the menu before and thought it was too posh for me 🤣 but the husband wanted to go so we booked a table.
When we arrived there for our table at 7pm the carpark was full!....shows that it is enjoyed by many throughout the day but someone was just leaving! Perfect! I didn't need to find a space somewhere else in the dark!
Lots of friendly faces from the staff when we arrived and there was lots of chatter from the customers seated at their tables.
Considering the number of people it was clean and tidy and well looked after.
We were seated and ordered our drinks. I liked how they were mainly local suppliers and businesses helping to support eachother!
We ordered our food and my lack of posh names for normal dishes showed 🤣🤦🏻♀️ but everything I ordered was delicious! My husband even said the hummus from his starter was "the best he had ever had!"
All of the staff were amazing tending to customers, turning tables over for the next and keeping everything clean and tidy, like a well oiled machine!
Will definitely return but not one for our toddler just yet...this can remain a nice place for mummy and daddy first!
Just returned from a week here! The Cottages are brilliant. Perfectly furnished to an outstanding quality. We stayed in the Cockle with our little doggie. He settled in straightaway. Secure garden for him to use and a stair gate to keep him securely down stairs even at night.
If you would like a holiday in an accommodation furnished to the high standard you enjoy at home this is the place for you. Great facilities, oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and Large TVs in every room, rain showers, fluffy white towels.
Recently we have stayed in accommodation that have pulled back in the nice welcomes such as a welcome pack of basic foods and toiletries but not here!! Nicely packaged toiletries waiting in the bathroom and Prosseco, tea, milk and cookies etc in the kitchen !
We ate every night we could at Mussel Inn as why eat anywhere else the food was fab!! Catering for all tastes in our part!! Even if they were fully booked (which being so popular they often were) they managed to fit us in.
We had some lovely local walks particularly taking in the Wembury Ponies which was a welcome surprise.
Great farm shop to visit nearby at Ben’s Farm shop and if you want a bit of retail therapy pop into Plymouth for some big shopping centres. We went further afield to Brixham lovely seaside town about an hrs drive away and you can even pop over the border to Cornwall 45 mins to NT Cothele worth a visit too.
Very impressed with our Food Thank you.
Burgers beat any other ever tasted. Served with succulent, soft yet crispy Pork belly. Beats having bacon in a burger any day.
Also excellent mussels, cooked to perfection and large portions.
