OMG, out with Caroline Quest and Hannah Nettleinghame for a lovely celebration lunch at 'The Fig Tree 36' and think I have found a little bit of heaven!
The location was idea, the setting intimate with the most amazing service, it was attentive but not in your face. And if you know me I'm a stickler for good service.
We ordered the 3 course set menu and it did not disappoint. In fact the pudding was so nice that I did not have a chance to take a picture before it was down or throats!
The starters were potted pork and Asian fish cakes that were to die for. The fishcakes were a taste explosion in my mouth. Just enough to make me want more.
The mains of Feta and Aubagine tart, a beautiful steak burger (it looked huge in real life!) With Triple cooked chips and my Carbonara two ways. The carbonara was just right with a slight smokey, creamy, loveliness. And the baked carbonara with its crispy coating did a nice job of balancing the meal out.
As for pudding the amazing creamyness of the lemon and lime marscapone in a light crumbly biscuit case and topped with the most perfect meringue. Sensational!
If you have not been there yet, I highly recommend you go and find it now.
Where should I start! The food was amazing, it was probably the best onion bahji, burger and desert I have ever tasted. The 'chocolate!!' desert was just heaven. It included a melt in the middle choc pot alongside honeycomb, brownies, choc biscuits and caramel sauce..!!! The burger was not just any burger... It was a Fig Tree 36 burger. You'll know when you have been there. Also, the hospitality and service was amazing very attentive and ensured service was quick and on time. Thank you so much for having me and my partner can't wait to visit again! Last thing to note is they have a loyalty card where you can get a desert free on your 6th visit.
Went for first time with friends. Exquisite food and great wine. The mussels are the best I've ever had. No intention to have three courses but the food was too good not to! Will definitely return
This is a hidden gem ,you should try this at least once because you dont know what your missing .

A fantastic evening on Saturday for my friends surprise proposal/engagement party. The owners & all the staff were wonderful & attentive & nothing was ever too much trouble. My steak was cooked to perfection & absolutely delicious. I will be bringing my husband back to sample the menu. Also have to say thank you so much for catering for my allergy. I could enjoy my meal without worrying.x
Most delicious food! Ordered the hummus to start, pork belly and the special sticky toffee pudding with fig ice cream, it was so good! Lovely friendly service too, would highly recommend.

What a wonderful experience... Amazing service, gloriously delicious food with all dietary needs catered for without any issue and with different options offered and spotlessly clean (important to me!)... Would highly recommend this excellently priced and totally yummy restaurant for a mealnfor one, a romantic dinner, a business meeting or a group booking...
Truly delicious food.Tasty fish cakes with just the right amount of heat.Heartwarming soup with delicious home made bread and brown butter.Mouth watering belly pork soft and crisp.Excellent fish stew.Great selection of cheeses.Newly opened.Must be tried.
Had an amazing meal in this fantastic little restaurant. We particularly loved the smoked butter served with the bread! We'll definitely be back.
Unfortunately we only took photos of our starters, but they tasted as good as they look.
A lovely, quaint and quirky place in the back streets near Royal William Yard. The food is outstanding; you will understand why they have a Michelin Bib Gourmand if you dine here.
Have only managed to dine once, for lunch, and off the back of that experience would love to try the Trust the Chef menu, but as I live in Manchester, and only visit Plymouth on weekends, it's not going to happen, sadly.
Birthday surprise. Did " trust the chef" which was great. Food was delicious, good portions, hot and was delivered with a smile.
My wife and I have long wanted to try The Fig Tree, and our anniversary seemed a good excuse! We were not disappointed! The food was amazing, the staff delightful, very welcoming and helpful. There are better tables locations than others due to the layout, we started at the back and were moved later to the front which was a much better, warmer experience. Would heartily recommend and look forward to finding another excuse to go back!
A total gem!. This is most definitely a diamond. Warm and welcoming service. Good atmosphere and generous but superb food. Not a single course disappointed, in fact, every moment was sheer joy. We would certainly return.
Had a lovely evening here for a ‘Trust the Chef’ 3 course vegetarian meal. Everything was delicious - one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! Loads of flavour and exciting dishes. Really nice to see so much effort put into veggie options, everything was delicious. The house cocktail was amazing too. Service was brilliant, super friendly and helpful. Venue itself is lovely. Food was served at perfect intervals, we weren’t rushed but equally we weren’t sat around getting hungry either. It made for a really perfect evening out, we’ll definitely be going back!
Such a lovely place with amazing foods, the Taste the Chef 3 course set are interesting and great combinations of all, it’s fun not knowing what are you going to have before you taste it yet it’s all surprisingly Good! And the staffs are so professional, attentive, welcoming and friendly, We had a wonderful night here, would definitely recommend it!❤️
We had an absolutely wonderful evening celebrating my friend's birthday last week. The food was just WOW! Everything we had was incredible. The staff was so lovely and friendly. We'll definitely be coming to the Fig Tree @ 36 with my husband soon! What a little gem hidden away in Stonehouse.
Such an amazing experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, food tasted amazing and the tast the chef experience was really amazing experience and excellent value for money. Nothing was too much trouble and the restaurant has a really cosy vibe. Would 100000% recommend and will definitely be going again!
I LOVE this place! We had our work Christmas dinner here, the food and service were outstanding. The atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming, we admired the eclectic decor all evening. The servers were very friendly and we were never without food or drink for the whole evening. Even when it became busy they made time to check on us and bring us anything we needed. Highly recommend!
Some of the best food I've ever had in my life.
It's a small family run place full of locals. The chef takes Devon ingredients and makes them sing.
This place is superb - go here! I went with my wife for a last-minute date. The atmosphere is lovely, unassuming and perfectly pitched for casual dining. Service was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. And the food! Everything we ate was delicious. My wife is coeliac and was accommodated perfectly. I had one of the best fish stews I have ever eaten with far more fish than you could shake a stick at, Rosie had an adapted mackerel dish which somehow made the mackerel feel delicate (I’ve been off mackerel for a while but this dish firmly put me back on to it!). I suspect this is going to become a favourite!
A good restaurant in the vicinity of the Royal William yard. Set menu is quite interesting, with many options to choose from. The specials might increase the price a bit but they are worth it. I had crab bhajiis, an excellent pork belly and a five chocolate dessert which was superb. Service is attentive and friendly. We did not have to wait long for our dishes to arrive. Hopefully we will be back soon.
First time here today with friends.
Had the trust the chef lunch menu.
Loved the element of surprise & trying things I would normally not choose. All the courses were delicious.
Will be visiting again.
We had a Saturday evening experience which was wonderful. Food is excellent and the atmosphere great. Very pleasant staff. The wine and beer list includes an excellent English wine and local bottled beer.
Great fun and we will definitely go back.
We had SUCH a fun night here, the staff were amazing, our server was attentive but most importantly they made us laugh throughout the night and it wouldn't have been the same night without them. The highlight of the food were the mackerel starter and the white chocolate cheese cake, both were excellent. Also, lovely wine selection too! All in all a fun evening, oh and a perfect playlist!
Amazing food and a good selection of drinks, and a nice chilled out atmosphere. 3 course lunch for £33 is great value. Do try the bread with smoked butter, absolutely stunning. Asked upon booking if we had any special dietary requirements, as they would cater for them if needed. Overall a great place to go
Beautiful little gem in Plymouth town centre. Super friendly and quaint restaurant. We went on Wednesday evening which is a trust the chef night where you choose vegetarian, meat or fish. Loved every dish and the puddings were lush, fantastic evening, would really recommend.
