Really lovely gastro pub in the centre of town. Excellent choice of cask & keg ale. Dog friendly throughout. Excellent cooking, recommend the mussel starter & venison stew. What makes the pub stand out for us is the excellent customer service. My husband had ordered the wrong main mistakenly (entirely his own fault) and the waiter swapped it for another dish with such speed & kindness. Great place, I hope we get to come back.
Great quality pub with great quality food for very reasonable prices. We took our 2 dogs in and they were lovely, even offering dog biscuits. Highly recommend the fish n chips tempura, the portions were a good size and staff were lovely.
I absolutely love this place. They had new owners since the last time we were there 2 years ago. Food, service, and atmosphere are all great. Will definitely be back.
Great menu, very reasonably priced. Food is excellent - beautifully cooked and presented. Special mention to server Stela and bar guys Jack and Harry. They provided great service on a very busy Sunday with warm smiles and calm team work.
I do a lot of hiking and foraging in this area as it is a handy location by train from Edinburgh and usually go to local competition but visited here today and found food much better than elsewhere.
Will definitely be back!
The food (mussels) wasn't hot when it arrived and tasted so so🙂 We ordered the T bone steak, but we were a little disappointed with the quality of the steak😟
Lovely gastro pub, excellent food, good service, amazing cocktails & dog friendly too.
Reopened on 27 March, under new ownership.
Been a few times and it has never failed to impress.
Such a warm welcome from a friendly, helpful and hardworking team.
Good selection of drinks available and an amazing menu
The food was delicious 😋
Can't recommend highly enough and looking forward to our next visit already
Lovely pub grub. Friendly and welcoming service. Nice atmosphere with locals and tourists.
Was in the area for the Enchanted forest and have eaten here before. It's changed owners since we were last here but is still a fabulous wee place, we had a table beside the fire which was nice and cosy.
The staff were very friendly and the food was great. Will definitely dine here again.
Went in between the Highlands tour. Lovely little spot and helpful staff with the best recommendations
Excellent cooking & service. We were there on an evening with a live band playing scottish pub songs (w/ keyboard, guitar, accordion naturally). The lead singer walked around the place with a microphone getting the crowd involved. Grand fun if you've had a few wee ones.
I personally loved my meal in The Auld Smiddy Inn, I had tempura seafood platter, which was delicious. My friends had a couple of niggles. One of them had a burger, and the meat inside was a bit rare. My other friend ordered gin with lemonade twice and got gin and tonic twice! The girl who served us was extremely friendly and helpful though and the gin was changed no problem. I'm sure if my friend who had the burger had complained, the problem would have been resolved. All in all, it was a lovely place to eat, and the meal was competitively priced.
Popped in here on our drive back from up north looking for some dinner. We were met with pleasant staff and seated quickly. Menu had a great choice and the atmosphere is nice, and they are dog friendly. I had the scallops from the small plates which I would highly recommend as the pairings are fab as well as 3 scallops which is good for the price. I then had the special of the day which was seafood risotto which was delicious, and had generous portions of seafood through it. My partner had the haggis tart to start and then the burger which was good too. Staff were fab, I know its sometimes hard to find good serving staff now but the whole team were super efficient and friendly, thank you!
Would recommend here for dinner or drinks:)
We were in Pitlochry for a few days with our dog Poppy and took her into the Auld Smiddy with us.
Our first visit started off very badly when my husband knocked his beer all over the table and floor.
It was early, and the pub was still quiet, but the person behind the bar was lovely and insisted on cleaning up for us and replaced my husbands beer for him.
Thankfully, they still allowed us back, and we revisited several times with the dog.
The place is dog friendly throughout, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming despite being extremely busy.
We would definitely recommend a visit, and if you get the chance to be there for their Scottish Music night, it's a great way to get involved and meet people.
The band and the singer were excellent and made sure everyone joined in.
Very nice location with wonderful food and good service.
Visit!
One of the best restaurants in Pitlochry.
Super friendly pub and restaurant with excellent food and great staff.
Good tasty homemade food (or at least locally sourced beef patties). Nice and warm inside but lacking a bit of soft background music :-). Take note that if you sit near the main entrance you will be hit with cold air when guests enter.
Lovely pub with very welcoming staff. They are usually very busy but strive to fit you in if you have not booked. Excellent local real ales. We just wanted a light evening meal and they do a main menu and a small plate menu which was ideal. Food was delicious. There is a lovely garden too.
