This restaurant is behind Victoria’s just next to the bridge on the way to the dam in Pitlochry. I had the best calamari I have ever tasted and the whole meal for us both was first class. We found most places in Pitlochry sold home cooking but this was fine dining and just something special. The waiter was really nice and friendly. We would definitely go back again. Great value for money too. Yum yum!
Fantastic staff and vibe. The food absolutely blew us away. Top quality food at awesome prices. Accommodated our large group at the last minute. Thanks for a great night.
My favourite place to eat when visiting Pitlochry Festival Theatre. A really cosy restaurant in a large traditional stone cottage in a side road behind the war memorial. Great menu and food very well prepared and presented. Good wine list and seats outside for fine weather.
Had dinner before going to the Enchanted Forest and had some wonderful food would recommend the Fern Cottage in Pitlochrey if you are passing or staying nearby. Davie and Maureen Cowan
Great atmosphere, good serviće and amazing food. Hubby had calimari and I had mussles for starters, then we had the venison and the duck for mains. Meat was very tender and the potato and sauces delicious! Would not hesitate to come back! Helen & Andy
My daughters and I went to fern cottage on Saturday for the pre theatre dinner, the greeter was very pleasant and helpful, the atmosphere was very welcoming, the waitress very attentive and the service was fast. The food was most enjoyable and plentiful, all in all we had a most enjoyable evening. Thank you.
We had a fab meal in a lovely setting staff excellent.
Great tasty food, good size portions and polite staff.... what more do you need.
Visited for lunch on a warm sunny saturday.
Staff were good, friendly and helpful. The food was tasty.
We had ciabattas, chips and icecream to finish.
We had a lovely meal here, just to round of our weekend in Pitlochry, Staff were lovely and the meal was excellent,
Very tasty 3 course meal had cooked to perfection. Very cosy restaurant with nice ambience. Good service. Not to be missed.
Beautiful decor, good service with well executed food and correct prices. Dishes are tasty and appetising even if staying with the parameters of local offerings. Wines aren’t overpriced with a reasonable conventional choice. A good list of gin and whisky that will make up for it. A 4.5 star really that cannot be faulted, testy and very enjoyable within a very charming cottage and location, just don’t go out looking for creative gourmet with inspiring beverages
Food was absolutely delicious and the service was good but a little bit slow on coming over to ask us what we would like.
We had an early dinner so the restaurant was nice and quiet.
Lovely evening meal. We had smoked haddock fish cakes to start followed by venison and salmon all meals were delicious. Staff were very welcoming and attentive too. Thank you!
Ate here on the weekend for the first time ...Absolutely gorgeous food, compliments to the chef/chefs! The service was spot on, and the place itself was lovely, warm, and cosy.
We had 3 courses and each course was delicious.
It is very reasonably priced, and there was plenty of choice on the menu. There was also a vegan menu available.
It's definitely a must if visiting Pitlochry, We ate in a few places while we were here, but this was the best by far!
Cute little spot in Pitlochery! I ordered the broccoli & bleu cheese soup of the day and the tabbouleh salad (forgot a picture!). My husband got the chicken BBQ burger and a fish cake starter. Everything was good and the service was friendly!
We sat outside and had lunch here on a sunny day. There were seated areas in the shade as well as the sun depending on what you prefer, the views across into the memorial garden were lovely.
Service was quick, the food was tasty with good helpings.
I had the halloumi burger which was cooked perfectly and my husband had fish and chips.
The fish and chips came with a little spritz bottle with freshly squeezed lemon saving getting messy fingers and pips on your food.
Excellent food, cute and comfortable environment. Gluten free options. I got the GF mushroom and spinach Parmesan/pesto linguine. It’s always hard to find a good GF pasta but this tasted like normal pasta with great texture. The dish was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was also amazing! My husband got the burger, which he said was a 7/10. Great service. Highly recommend!
A lovely little place. We were positively surprised by the vast menu options and the choice of fresh local ingredients. The food was tasty and with that homely twist to it. The place was very busy so probably better book it in advance.
Fern Cottage was a delight. At attention to detail, from the restaurant lay out to the uniform of the staff. The food was excellent. Best to book, we visited on a Friday night and it filled up as the night went on. Value for money, a must visit if in Pitlochry.
Nice eatery off the main street. Pretty quiet outside as there is a park across the street. The Mediterranean platter was nice, varied, and tasty. The goat cheese bon bons are tasty but not very large (but it is a starter). The service was good and efficient. Not a lot of options for the vegan in your group
WOW, what an experience! It's totally one of the best meals we have ever eaten in a restaurant. Everything was such high quality, very nicely presented and very tasty. It started with the goat cheese Bon Bons and Tomato soup for starters and continued throughout the meal, just delightful. The manager was amazing, super nice and friendly, also making sure we had the space we needed with the wheelchair. The table was a good height to get the wheelchair under, and disabled access was very easy, through a side door near the disabled toilet. Highly recommended restaurant.
We are vegetarians holidaying in Scotland, it’s difficult to get good food. Fern cottage was a delightful experience as we were taking a lunch break on our way to Edinburg. We ordered an Arrabbiata pasta with potato leek soup, both were delicious. Happy we decided to come here!
We had a fantastic evening here. Very kind service, a very nice menu card and awesome delicious food. We'll be back.
I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Fern Cottage Restaurant. I was struck particularly about how efficiently all staff worked so well as a team.
My Boe Violet gin was exceptional and I loved the raspberry ice cube in it. What a great way to enjoy the added raspberry flavour without watering down the drink with extra ice cube.
The starter of feta olives tzatziki and bread really hit the spot. But the salmon main was absolutely perfect. Just the right size for a perfect meal.
I personally thought the food was wonderful, but my husband did not agree. For starters we had the goat cheese bon bons and the smoked salmon. Both were delicious - a good start. I ordered the venison, medium-rare, and it was very tasty and cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the duck, also medium-rare, and it was overcooked and quite disappointing. He didn't want to send it back and reorder because then we would not be having our dinner together. So he put up with it, although he did mention it to the wait staff at one point.
As for the wait staff, they did not seem happy at all. Every one who waited on us was completely indifferent... Not one of them seemed happy to be there. And they did not really attempt to meet our needs adequately during the meal - when my husband's drink ran out there was no one around to refill it, and his glass sat empty for a good 10 minutes. We are usually big tippers - even in Britain, where tipping isn't really a thing - but we left less than 3 pounds tip on an 82-pound bill.
I would eat here again, but I would not order the duck.
An amazing restaurant in the middle of Pitlochry. We really appreciated the vegetarian and vegan options (there is a whole vegan section on the menu) and they were delicious. The place is full of character. You can check their prices on their website, mostly around £15-20 per main.
On our visit to Pitlochry we ate here 2 nights , food was very good , staff very friendly , lovely rustic decor , would highly recommend, but be sure to book in advance as its very popular, will definitely be returning here again on my next visit to Pitlochry !
It's a long time since I have had a meal quite so tasty. We are booked again for Saturday evening & we are very much looking forward to it. It was scrumptious !
Excellent food. We got the last booking so make sure you book in advance you don't want to miss out. Plus an added bonus of Birds and bee's bottle ale my favourite.
Would definitely go back when I go to Pitlochery.
