What a beautiful venue, sitting at the side of the River Orwell watching all the yachts pass by. Food was great and nicely presented and they serve really good ale. Can recommend.

Great choice of different food from standard pub menu and the quality is excellent. My husband is a bit of a foodie and said it was the best prawn linguine he'd ever tasted. The setting is as gorgeous as usual. A great visit for all the right reasons.

We are from the United States and came for a visit with friends. They treated us to a wonderful dinner at The Butt & Oyster. We loved the food and of course you can't go wrong with Adnams beer! Cheers

It is our favourite place to go! Food excellent, helpful and efficient staff, very good beer and wine choices, and the setting restful and calming. Only 'complaint', it is SO popular, I can't often get the window seat!!!!! And it's popularity underlines the above comments!

The chilli prawn starter is excellent, prawns cooked to perfection in butter. For mains we had Fish and chips, the Burger, and Roasted Sea Bass, both good. Desserts were alright.

Great location with good food and friendly service. Ordered the steak, which was tasty enough, although would have loved it more if it had come with mushrooms as well. Would definitely recommend booking if you visit at the weekend. I visited mid-week and felt lucky to get a table. Would definitely recommend for a riverside meal or drinks.

We had an incredible experience at the Butt & Oyster celebrating a birthday! We were spoilt for choice on the menu which I feel rarely happens elsewhere. The mains and desserts served were all 10/10 and we couldn’t fault a single thing! Very delicious and great value for money considering the food portions. We had a lovely server who made us feel welcome and provided with dessert a birthday candle and song for our birthday girl- which was a lovely touch. We would definitely all return again and recommend to others!

Lovely Riverside pub which has stayed the same for years. Good pub grub made to look like gourmet food.

I ate here for 3 nights in a row in April whilst on holiday. Its advisable to book a table if you want to be certain as its very popular with locals, sailors and tourists. The food was very tasty with a wide ranging menu and specials board. The staff were helpful and offered great service. If eating outside (the views of the river orwell are terrific) its an order at the bar affair. I would say its quite expensive but then the food is of high quality.

Excellent all round. Dogs are kept in the bar area and prevented from entering the restaurant area in a polite but firm manner. The lovely views and perfect beer were a great compliment to the first warm spring beer day. The calamari was succulent.

Historic pub on the River Orwell. Starting point for the annual Pin Mill Sailing Barge Race. Good food and real ale. Very popular so if you want to eat you need to book. Access by a steep, narrow lane with limited parking but well worth the visit.

Fantastic food, fantastic setting, excellent friendly staff and reasonably priced. This is not 'pub food' this is restaurant quality food in a relaxed setting right on the river, but without the resistant price tag. A very decent selection of local beer and ale alongside a great food menu, with at least 10 specials. Can't wait to come back!

It's a lovely place to spend a sunny day. The food is nice and service good. Nice walks in the area and along the river. Parking can be difficult at the pub but a car park a short walk away. Worth a visit.
