Loved it!! Went there with my boyfriend for a late lunch. Beautiful pub with friendly service and awesome food. My boyfriend was happy about his burger and I felt very lucky looking at the extra vegetarian and vegan menu. Thank you so much!!
As a coeliac I struggle to find places to eat where I don’t have to pay extra or lose out on an element of a dish. We had a roast dinner here. The generous portions of beautifully cooked beef, vegetables and potatoes were just delicious!! We’re bringing out friends back soon!
Nice gastropub with a quant interior serving pub classics. I had the ham, egg and chips and "crispy cow", which was pulled beef in breadcrumbs with a horseradish and mustard sauce. Both were very nice. Service was friendly and quick.
I was holidaying in the area last week and seeing the sights. I came to The Thimble for a meal. I had a new cauliflower dish which was so delicious I had to return a couple of days later to have it again! All the staff were so friendly. Although I was on my own, I felt very comfortable. My only regret is that I live too far away to make this my regular haunt.
We travelled to Dorset from Portsmouth to go and see my girlfriend's dad. He recommended lunch at The Thimble, and now I can, too 😀. It's a lovely place, with ample space in its own car park, and the food was impressively good 😀. We were trying to be sensible, so we skipped starters and went straight to mains. Between the three of us, we had Caesar salad, chicken schnitzel, pan-roasted sea bass, and a bottle of Chilean Pinot Noir. Everything was excellent. The girlfriend was driving, so she was the most sensible, opting for coffee instead of pudding, while her dad had sorbet and I had a beautiful lemon posset with. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be trying to book a table here!
Amazing Sunday lunch for my sister's birthday. All the food was absolutely top-notch, there was nothing to fault. The vegetarian options were fabulous, a homity pie, or a nut roast. The roast potatoes were delicious, the vegetables plentiful and an excellent variety from broccoli, red cabbage, peas, leek and cabbage and green beans. The staff were lovely and even sang happy birthday to my sister and helped out with cake! I'd thoroughly recommend the Thimble Inn!!!
This place has a fair amount of parking and we found plenty on arrival, there are two disabled bays just as you drive In.
The food was genuinely fantastic my wife loved the pie with Clotted Cream Marsh! The burger was very tasty and the chips were very moorish, our friend enjoyed her dish, I can't remember what it was but it was Spanish and had almonds and she really liked it.
The pub had a great atmosphere lots of people coming and going and people had brought their dogs along which was lovely to see.
We completely lost track of time and before we knew it we had lost 7 hours relaxing and enjoying the place.
The Thimble Inn is one of those gems that you don't want everyone to know but deserves to be appreciated by those who make the effort to visit.
All the staff and customers were friendly and polite, and we will be back very soon with more friends.
Thank You
Absolutely delicious lunch. I am veggie and often feels like pub food for a vegetarian is an after thought. Not here! Great menu, perfectly cooked vegetables and tasty main.
Our dog was made very welcome- as were we.
Great pub!
Met friends here and picked on Google as a halfway point. What a find in a small village, we were greeted with friendly helpful staff, as one was late, no problem they said. Bottle of water on the table, lovely after a long drive, we each had a different main meal, empty plates all round, it was delicious, hot, so well cooked and all to the table at the same time.and it was busy. Sweets were also attractive and so yummy! We spent a very enjoyable catch up with friends, over 3 hours and we were not hassled to leave. It is definitely our place of choice when we meet up again, we will be back, thank you so much, you are all such a delightful find. Oh and very dog friendly!
We had Sunday lunch here a few days ago and we were blown away! Not only was this the cutest pub, but the food was outstanding. We had creative starters that would not have been out of place in a gourmet restaurant and the perfect Sunday roast came out with equally perfect side dishes. All at a very reasonable price and served by a friendly and efficient crew.
