I don't understand how a little pub in the middle of nowhere can get it so right. The waiters were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They looked like they enjoyed their jobs 🥳. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Maisie our waitress looked after us really well, always a smile at hand. The toilets were immaculate which is almost alien 😱. The glass of water my wife asked for was spotless with ice and lime. A last minute decision to drop by and have something to eat turned out to make our whole evening. Now if only everyone could follow this fine example. Thank you the star in for a pleasant evening.

Took my mum for a roast here, Sunday last week, as she lives overseas and is on holiday on home soil. Both loved the roast beef dinner. Very lovely place to visit, as its so calm and relaxed. Returning this Sunday before mum flies back to Turkey xx

Lovely amazingly old restaurant, in a beautiful setting. Plenty of tables both inside and out. Has car parking on site. Serving really good home cooked food. Quite an extensive and varied menu catering for most tastes, including vegetarian. Good children's menu too. Portions were on the large side, all served piping hot and well cooked, although the battered cod was a little greasy. Staff were lovely. Altogether a very nice place to eat

Lovely food here at £10 for a 3 course meal. Had the fillet steak which was wonderful 😋 Friendly staff and great atmosphere. You can sign up to receive texts which let you know when the deals are on. Also visit their sister pub, The Smugglers in Pevensey for great food at discount prices.

Excellent food and good deals for a Sunday lunch. Usually they have a deal on... went last week and they had an added starter of breaded king prawns, plus a free starter if you ordered a roast. Regardless of that you can still get a 3 course meal for £15. Highly recommended.

Great place, managed to get a table without reservation (in future I would book). Great staff very helpful and friendly. The food was lovely, good portions and a very decent price. Would definitely recommend.

This was an absolute gem that we found. They do a crazy deal where with any main you get starters and deserts half price. Baring in mind, the mains are £10-£12 each this is ridiculous! The food is very well portioned and we didn't feel skimped out on despite the price. The food was good quality and tasted great. Would 100% recommend this place! Doing more for the cost of living crisis and being able to enjoy yourself still than anyone else so much so, we went twice over the weekend!

I was a little sceptical when I saw the menu , having not been to the Star since it was a carvery a few years back. It's definitely changed decor wise and isn't so cosy or focussed on it's history, which was sad to see. Kinda stripped out, with modern floors, fake flowers and mismatching decor to the age of the pub. The menu was the January special and printed in garish layout in magazine paper. BUT... The service was absolutely fantastic. The most polite and friendly staff I've ever encountered. The food was ridiculously cheap. You get what you pay for but it was adequate and good size portions. Deserts were large. £3.50 for diet coke probably is how they make their profits. Plenty of pensioners making the most of the affordable food. Lack of atmosphere slightly due to no fire there any more ( slightly cold!) or any cosy touches. Cutlery bunged in a plastic box. I'd call it functional. And in these times, really spot on with finding a market. It's hard to make a profit in the service industry now and it's a bold and brave move to have such a cheap menu. I would recommend. Largely due to the simple menu and the friendly, polite and wonderful staff.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit for lunch. First time visiting the Star Inn in quite a long time. Would highly recommend a visit. There are some different food choices from the standard type menu offering which is great to see. We sat outside and the weather was glorious. Service very good as well.

Had a lovely lunch out here with friends. We all enjoyed our different food choices from the menus. The staff were great, very friendly and engaging, explained the different menu choices, which were very good and catered for all diet requirements. There was a really nice atmosphere and everyone around seemed to be enjoying it as well. Would definitely dine out here again. One thing to point out is that we pre-booked a table for midday and so glad we did, very busy and would definitely suggest that anyone wanting to go here should also do you the same.

Main course is excellent value. Steak was perfect. Dessert not so good. Very plain. Sundaes mainly which is basic 2 scoops of ice cream with different sauces. Make up money on desserts and booze. Quiet when I went but Place is massive! So guess could get noisy with kids.

Visited with family.Great roast dinner. No skimping on portions. Set price for main meals and offered half price on desserts. Large choice on menu. Old pub so step down from door and floor slightly uneven. Book a table
