We went to this pub today , after visiting Elton hall . ( which was amazing ) It was around 4pm so was not too busy . The staff were exemplary , so warm and friendly . The food we had was amazing . Obviously freshly cooked , and a great vegetarian selection , so we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals . When the puddings arrived , the main waitress , went out of her way to put a candle and a happy birthday tag in mine , which was a really lovely touch . It just ended a perfect Birthday ., the pudding was by far the best treacle sponge and custard I had ever tasted !! I would highly recommend this establishment , and would like to thank the lovely waitress who made my visit so very special

The Black Horse Pub by Elton Hall FANTASTIC! SO DELICIOUS! My husband had the lamb sunday roast. I stole several tastes from his plate because he was constantly moaning about how scrumptious it was. He's not wrong! The lamb sunday roast was like butter! Loved the savory red cabbage. I had the roasted aubergine coconut curry. I managed to get a photo of my lunch but my husband was practically inhaling his meal so no photo. Sorry. We were too full to try any desserts so we've made a pact to come back JUST for dessert. It was that yummy that we'll make a special trip to come back. We stopped because we were visiting Elton Hall. More on that later.

We went with for friends for Sunday Lunch and it was excellent. Thoroughly recommended. This is a friendly busy pub with good atmosphere and good food. We all had roast dinners - beef, pork and lamb were available. They were large portions and delicious. Some of us also had desserts, also excellent. But the most stand-out feature was the serving team. They were excellent. Friendly, attentive and efficient. We were well looked after and didn’t have to wait at any time despite it being a busy lunchtime service.

This place was awesome with the food, drinks, and very nice atmosphere. However, we went back on a Sunday and was literally yelled at that they were taking no more walk-ins and that they don't do takeaway. We were there an hour and a half before closing on a Sunday and understood the reason, but felt that we didn't need to be yelled at that they could not accommodate us at that particular time and that they don't do take away. We left very sad and somewhat upset. More than likely, I will not recommend going here, especially on a Sunday with a booking in advance.

Visited with our friends for lunch, sat outside as we had two dogs with us, ordered whitebait and fried chicken for starters and bangers & mash and king prawns for the main and we both enjoyed it. Only thing I would say is frozen cocktails would be good in the sunnier weather!

Very polite staff went above and beyond with excellent service food was amazing and even when my husband knocked his beer over the table. They moved us to another free table replaced the beer for him and made the transition relaxed for us with two small children. The food was delicious and the children had half portion roast each they both done really well. My son was amazed at the size of the Yorkshires

Three of us came out for a meal last night and every one of us had fantastic food. Highly recommend the Beef Bourginion Suet Pudding, it was amazing. Great food and lots of it.

First visit to The Black Horse in Elton. Staff wonderfully patient after moving table twice after being hounded by a wasp. Food was beautiful. Portions were large and I couldn't eat it all. Prices very reasonable. Pub was situated in a lovely, quiet little village. Will definitely go back and would highly recommend. Oh, and had a very good choice for gluten free options.

Great food and in the majority of cases you will get what you paid for. However I ordered the Sirloin steak but was given a Rump. Despite the kitchen being adamant it was a Sirloin I was given a free dessert. But cosy atmosphere, lots of food and drinks choices from the menu. Car park opposite and overspill just a little further. Overall I would visit again

Lovely rural pub for a hearty lunch. The vegetarian and vegan options were bountiful and the staff were attentive. A good spot to stop off from the A1(M)
