Thoroughly enjoyed my set menu lunch today, the food was excellent and the service was very good. A great relaxed feel and tasteful decor. The scotch egg was delicious and the sea bream was flavoursome. My only criticism (although it did not affect my experience) was that I was expecting to chose my cheeses, the waitress asked my preference which was blue cheese, but I would not want all blue cheese, unfortunately she put goats cheese on my plate which is possibly the only cheese I can’t eat. Maybe you could let diners know what cheeses are available so they could chose. I would strongly recommend this as a great place to eat and look forward to returning in the future, well done to you all.
We had an amazing lunch at the Chubby Castor today. I had the mackerel starter and hake mains. Both were fresh and superb. The flavours were wonderful particularly the cauliflower puree and spinach sides. The staff were attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. We both really enjoyed our time there and look forward to trying the brunch menu.
Four of us went for Sunday Lunch. This was our first meal since it had reopened, having been a number of times with previous owners and also having had our wedding reception so was hoping for good things. We were very pleasantly surprised. The Sunday Lunch menu was very good but the food was excellent both in the presentation and how it was served. Starters were Leek and Potato Soup, Belly Pork, and Mushroom and Goats cheese. Piping hot and really nicely presented. We all had the Beef and it was cooked to perfection, lovely and red and very tasty. Overall a lovely afternoon which we shall be repeating again soon.
Have eaten at The Chubby Castor before and thoroughly enjoyed it, when we were deciding where to go for a nice ladies lunch to celebrate a birthday last Friday, it seemed a good, local choice. -And it was! The food was superb and the service just spot on. Very friendly and accommodating. We haven't stopped praising it all. Thank you, Chubby Castor.
First time here(but definitely not our last) after it was recommended by friends. Had the set lunch menu and the food was delicious. The vichyssoise and the guinea fowl were really tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive and we had an extremely relaxed and enjoyable meal. Thank you.

Lovely place. We sat outside and had lunch with a friend. We had few small nibbles and food was delicious, full of flavour. There was quiet music playing and very nice atmosphere. The lady serving us was very nice and helpful. We will be back. Drinks were tasty and serve in a big glass. I would say it's almost 2 drinks in one.
Fantastic food and the service was exceptional, so many great wine suggestions. Mid-week was a little quiet so we felt very well attended.

We went on a very quiet evening, mid week for a birthday. Food was truly exceptional. Michelin quality. We come to visit this area now and again to see family and so always on the look out for new places to eat. The Chubby Castor will become our new favourite place for special occasions.
Food, wine very good. The service was extremely high, the maitre d’ was very knowledgeable and engaging.
We mentioned our daughters B-day on the reservation and they had a table set up with a rose and a card when we arrived, and even gave an additional Happy Birthday desert at the end of the meal. The food was great, and the service was amazing. I couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate!!

We were given complimentary home made breads, then a lovely apple mousse with onion and red peppers. And before dessert we also got a complimentary cinnamon donut with a passion fruit filling.

The restaurant is glam,smart and very welcoming. The staff is professional and kind. All courses were beautifully presented, well explained and tasty.
Absolutely first class. This is fine dining at its best. Admittedly the portions are small and the prices very high but the food and experience was outstanding. We were COVID cautious but this was not a problem we were seated next to an open door and looked after very well.
I’ve just dined here for the first time with my family and we were all blown away with how fabulous it was- the service was first class, food from the tasting menu was a masterpiece, the setting was beautiful and staff were an absolute delight. We are very hard to please as a family but each one of us said it was the best meal we’ve had in years and we couldn’t find one criticism between us. Highly recommended for a lucullan repast!
Really good food, a little too much flavour in one dish, particularly the hake. Don't get me wrong, it was beautifully done, nice moist fish, but too many flavours that ended up swamping the fish itself. But really worth a visit as the food is far above your typical restaurant in the area. Attentive and friendly service.

Could do better: Atmosphere a bit flat. Needs a bit of theatre in the outside dining experience.
Me and my wife had an amazing dining experience for our anniversary, which exceeded our expectations. Smart and modern interior settings with a very calm and cosy atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and provided us with absolutely professional service, which made us feel special. The food presentations were spectacular, and regarding the taste, I don't have the words to explain how delicious everything was.

A very pleasant dining experience at lunchtime. Food was delicious and nicely presented. I particularly enjoyed the crab starter and the dessert was almost too pretty to eat. Service is competent. Will be returning again.😍

Lovely place and amazing food and service! We just walked in after going skydiving in Peterborough not knowing it's fine dining place so we were dressed quite inappropriately for such a resaurant😅 The staff still treated us nicely and did not point that out like they would in some posh restaurants.
