Delicious food, nice atmosphere and good service, definitely come back again
A little spicy but lovely, (perhaps that's just down to us) hadn't made a reservation but they found us a table within 5 minutes, (Christmas parties going on) staff were very attentive and fast, cocktails were very good also!
The food was excellent, but the service was a bit slow. Mostly seemed like they didn't have enough staff to manage how busy it was. Overall great experience though and the staff was really friendly. Would recommend going.
So this review is based on the whole entire experience whilst jotting down notes whilst dining.
Welcome on arrival: The welcome on arrival was excellent, we were seen by a staff member with a nice smile, and a really friendly hello. Asking if we had any allergies which is excellent, and took us to our seat right away. He gave us a few minutes to look through the menu which allows us enough time to decide what we want.
We ordered everything at 17:00.
Drinks arrived at 17:08, which was a cocktail. I had the WildWood Special which is a Lemoncello drink. The drink was lush however there were no garnishing on the drink, the jug of water was also missed off. 4/5
Starter also arrived at 17:08, I had the Mozzarella Garlic Bread which I enjoyed. It wasn’t too small and it wasn’t too big, it was a perfect portion size. 5/5
Starters were cleared at 17:20 and cleaned promptly. We were offered more drinks in which I got another of the WildWood Special and reminded the staff of the jug of water. Both arrived in a timely manner.
Mains arrived at 17:23 - Personally I feel there should be more time between the starter and main coming out. I ordered the Calzone which was served with salad and a good dressing, tasted like Caesar dressing. Empty glasses were not cleared when second round of drinks arrived. The food was really good and full of flavour. 5/5
Check-back: Sadly, there were no check back for our mains, so no comment towards this section. 0/5
Mains were cleared promptly and we were asked if we wanted anything else. I would maybe consider offering desserts or hot drinks to boost the upselling. We asked for dessert menus. 4/5
We ordered desserts at 18:00. I ordered the sticky toffee pudding with icecream.
Desserts arrived at 18:04. The desserts were presented well and the server got us some spoons. Maybe just make sure you place spoons on the table before serving the desserts, we weren’t given anymore napkins which should be a must considering how messy desserts can be. Desserts were lovely though. 4/5
Conclusions:
Atmosphere was good with lights being dimmed in the evening. Only problem with atmosphere is hearing the staff’s conversations over the music.
Toilets were really clean and there was no smell of sewage or mould. The toilets are a long walk from the dining area and up stairs .
Food was excellent, no dish was bland and all dishes were nicely seasoned.
Overall ratings:
Service: 5/5
Atmosphere 4/5
Food: 5/5
Cleanliness: 5/5
Toilets: 5/5
Total: 5/5
Really friendly young staff. Enjoyed our meal. We went on a Thursday evening, quiet in comparison to a weekend. They are very thorough when asking about allergies.
Only fault I had is that it took a long time to get our bill (15 mins after finishing our puddings), we tried to make it known we were finished multiple times but nothing was picked up until the staff stopped speaking with each other and finally noticed.
We decided to come here for food after changing our mind on our initial place. We were seated promptly by a welcoming, polite lady. I chose the salmon fish cakes, poached egg etc with creamy mustard sauce & my partner had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with chips. Both were absolutely delicious! Our server was fantastic, also asked if we had any allergies which is great for anyone that did. The atmosphere was lovely, cosy and inviting. It was busy but service was quick and attentive. Price wise it was very reasonable too. We had a lovely time and will be returning!
Wildwood restaurant is a must-visit for anyone visiting Peterborough. The food was excellent, we visited twice because of how good it really was! The venue itself is very nice! The only thing I could point out as not so great was the speed of service and the attentiveness of the staff. We visited twice within a 10-day period when we were on holiday in the area. On both occasions, the service wasn't up to what you would expect from such a beautiful venue. A few examples :- during both visits we had finished our drinks quite early on and no one came either time to ask if we wanted more drinks. On the first visit, we were trying to get the bill as we needed to head off (we had finished eating a good 10 minutes prior), there were two members of staff standing casually talking to one another within a doorway and not looking at what was going on around them for a long time. On our second visit we had a similar experience getting the bill, but to add to this, once we got it, we had to wait a further 10 minutes to get the card reader as again the member of staff went off and started talking to another member of staff in quite a casual manner before returning to us.
Please don't let what I write about the service put anyone off from going as the staff were always incredibly polite and friendly but thought it was worth sharing as addressing this would make this a top dining destination.
We were initially going to get Nandos next door but I realise I wanted something different. When we came in, very nice impressions and we were given a table, lots of wonderful options but unfortunately I ordered the seafood pasta but it had so much chilli in there, I realise that was probably on me not reading the menu but otherwise the starters and drinks were delicious. Will be coming back!
Excellent service from the warm welcome to the moment we left. Lovely staff, superb food. Look forward to visiting again!
I would highly reccomend Wildwood Peterborough, the food is so delicious, service was excellent and the restaurant is lovely, warm and cosy 😊 we ordered the red pepper soup for starter absolutely gorgeous 👌 for mains my friend ordered Spaghetti bolognese and I had the peri peri chicken penne pasta dish both were divine 💗💗
I had lunch and dinner here with the family. It was lovely in everything. The staff, the services, the food, the drinks. But it will be nice if there's more option for the kids menu. X
I went here for my father's birthday with my family, and all i have to say is the food was amazing, but not only that, the service was the best I've ever had they were very friendly and engaged with making sure you have a good time if you are looking for a place to eat out this is the place to go.
I've been here twice now with my Hubby. They take our allergies seriously, which is very refreshing as some places just laugh as though we're joking.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, and on both occasions they've let us choose booth seating as I find chairs incredibly uncomfortable.
The food was lovely both times and served piping hot. My only constructive criticism would be to ask for a better tomato soup. The one I had seemed like the tomato juice from canned tomatoes and it had way too much pepper in it.
Also, we tried the delivery service once inbetween our two visits. We ordered pizzas and I'm sad to say that they were barely room temperature upon arrival, despite the fact that we live less than a quarter of a mile away.
Great food, wonderful an friendly staff. Also available to help with menu choices and allergy needs. Loved to be there I will definitely came back 😊
Staff were pleasant & did well serving our large party quickly (pre ordering helped).
Food was very nice (artisan pizza was very good & plenty of it).
Desserts were great too.
Would I visit again... yes.
