This is a great place for amazing food and really good drinks.
It is a little pricey but a great option for a nice date night out.
Will hopefully be going back when back in town.
Penzance is a great town, with great food and this is a must stop for a cool vibe for a visit.
We had a delicious meal at the Artist Residence Clubhouse in July 2020 on our mini moon. My husband enjoyed the cocktails and we both indulged in the steaks for dinner. The wine selection was good, too. The steaks were cooked absolutely perfectly and they were full of flavour.
The clean interiors and vibrant colours used in the restaurant felt homely and welcoming. Definitely fitting for the Cornish life!

Delicious skate. Friendly service. Seemed a little crowded with tables close to each other but actually fine when seated. We will go here again.
We went for Sunday Roast and we ordered the Beef Brisket. The meat was delicious and really enjoyed the gravy with roasted veggies. I tried an IPA local beer from Cornwall that was very tasty (and not too strong). The waiters were friendly too. Recommended!
Excellent vegan nut roast and alcohol free drink options, lovely attentive staff too.
Excellent food in a funky bistro setting. I had the beer can chicken which was delicious. Everyone else in our party reported top marks for the food. Thoroughly recommend this place.
Booked a Sunday lunchtime slot with a friend. We both had the slow roast beef. I had chosen this place because I was searching for somewhere for a roast dinner, where the meat wasn’t roasted, chilled, carved and reheated. We were not disappointed. The meat was fantastic, freshly cooked, melted in the mouth and the flavour was amazing. Staff said it was cooked for 12 hours. Obviously not rare but a cheaper cut, looked like a brisket which packs flavour. I love that sort of meat. A very generous portion too. The gravy was the best I had ever tasted in a restaurant for a Sunday lunch. Not a generic gravy but a rich dark gravy that totally reflected the meat flavour. The vegetables were beautifully cooked and plentiful. Carrots, parsnips, cabbage and creamy leeks. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. We asked for more gravy and more horseradish sauce and it was brought with a smile. It was simply the best roast dinner I have eaten in a restaurant in years. I don’t usually bother to write reviews but this was exceptional. The roast was 17.00 so not the cheapest around but well worth paying if you like good food. I had a sticky toffee pudding -which I didn’t need but couldn’t resist- which was also delicious. As a bonus it was a quiet building where I could hear myself speak, and hear what my friend was saying, which is so rare these days. A bit of me is reluctant to post this for fear of bookings going mad and me not being able to get a table next time but it deserves celebrating. Thank you.
A lovely restaurant with small bar and relaxing lounge area. The décor makes for a relaxed atmosphere and the staff are welcoming and attentive. The menu offers dishes of a high standard and there's plenty of components to each plate making up for a lack of huge variety in each course. I would absolutely rate The Cornish Barn 5 stars were it not for the fact my girlfriend asked for her steak to be cooked medium and it came to the table rare. The waitress was quick to correct this but I expect more and am of the opinion every chef should know how to cook a steak to order. A small blemish on an otherwise lovely evening.
I was by myself and felt welcome and not a ‘nuisance’, lovely presented and delicious cocktail, good tasty food, worth the bit extra in price
Came in for dinner, the fish of the day and scallops were absolutely amazing! Very fresh and cooked to perfection! Wonderful service from Jane as well, very welcoming and friendly!
