We went without booking and sat straight down, service was very quick but not rushed, we were given plenty of time to consider the menu, and decide what we wanted. The food came it in good time, and was excellent. We had the house wine which was also very enjoyable. We will be going back soon.

A real taste of Sicily. Our favourite Italian restaurant in the UK. Hidden gem in Penwortham, tell your friends. Thanks Alessandro and Roberto!

This place is a real hidden gem in Preston. They specialise in Sicilian cuisine. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and made sure we were happy with our meal. For starters we had this aubergine and cocoa dish. It was certainly different! A cold starter with marinated aubergines in a vinegar sauce with pickled onions, capers and olives. It was very delicious and a good portion too! For mains I had the cacio e Pepe, one of my favourites! And it didn't disappoint! Very tasty and cheesy just the way I like it. My only criticism is that it could have been served on a plate/bowl rather than a slate as it was hard to eat off of. We also ordered the very traditional alla norma, however we were quite disappointed with this dish. It was a small portion with a basic tomato sauce, and a few dots of aubergine purée. I've had far better alla norma than this, where I had a rich aubergine tomato sauce with actual pieces of aubergine. We also found the pasta very al dente, almost raw. We respect that Italians and Sicilians prefer the pasta this way but we like ours to be fully cooked so we don't end up with an upset stomach! They did offer to cook it further. For dessert we got an almond semi freddo with a chocolate sauce. This was absolutely divine! Overall I would come here again to try the other dishes, it does seem very authentic and my pasta dish was excellent despite the alla norma disappointment. But next time I will make sure to ask for my pasta to be fully cooked! It's quite a small place so if you want to try some Sicilian food, make sure to book in advance.

Wonderful food and really friendly service. We popped in without booking quite early on a Saturday eve - maybe 5.30. No issues getting a table. Pizzas and pasta lovely. Great service and not pricey. We'll be back.

A true taste of Italy. My family and I really enjoyed our meal here on a Friday evening. Slightly different to your usual 'british italian' menu and I'd really recommend trying something seasonal off the special menu; the pasta with pumpkin was great.

What a great little restaurant this is. I was wary of going as I am no longer good with wheat, so pasta and pizza are a bit of a non starter these days. How I would have loved some tomato garlic bread to eat before the main course but I knew I had to give it a miss! The menu bore little resemblance to the fodder in most Italian restaurants and it was so much better because of that. We were a party of 4 and the welcome from Alex was warm and friendly. As the evening progressed, he was both charming and entertaining. I opted for the Beef tagliata with rocket salad, slow cooked confit cherry tomatoes and salted ricotta shavings. I had never tasted anything like it before – but I will be back for more of the same. 2 of our party had the sea bass with courgettes and the 4th had the beef and pork meatballs. For dessert, Alex brought 2 items and 4 plates, then sliced the desserts for us to share . One was pistachio ice cream with biscuit crumbs, the other escapes me but both were excellent. A nice bottle Rose wine went down a treat. The food was exceptional, as was Alex and on a very cold night in January the restaurant was as warm as the welcome. 2 of us will be back – the other 2 live in Dorset!

You have to eat here! Astonishing restaurant! The host (manager) is one of the best I’ve ‘worked’ with…so friendly, knowledgeable, great fun and a real Italian character. Such a top bloke. Anyway, the food is beyond divine…easily the tastiest in Preston and beyond. Not one aspect of our meal was anything less than perfect. I won’t give particulars, much more fun to arrive without any inside intel, but all I will say…go with empty stomachs and fill your boots! A fabulous place and I have no doubt booking will get very tricky. A hidden gem as it stands. Cannot wait to go back…dreaming of the prawns as I type. 10/10 without question

Lovely setting. They very kindly accommodated us with a small, well behaved dog (at the back of the restaurant by the rear door, so as not to disturb anyone). We were treated to a small but lovely aperitif whilst we chose our order. The menu is quite small - although supported by a number of pizzas - but very lovely. And some quite interesting choices not seen in many more Anglecised Italian restaurants. The food was delicious, if not the cheapest in town, and the wine very lovely also. Recommended.

This place is so good, authentic Italian 😘 Four of us had beautifully fresh, authentic Italian food and top class wine. The owner is knowledgeable about all the food and ingredients and his recommendations are spot on. Best Italian food I have ever had in Preston 👍

Both the food and the service here are exceptional! Very authentic, and a menu which takes you out of your comfort zone, in a good way. One of our party is vegi and the owner made a special ‘off the menu’ pizza. Love everything about this place and we’ll most definitely be back :)

Absolutely the jewel in Penwortham's crown. The food was exceptional. I have never eaten Italian food quite like what I experienced at pane e vino. The flavours were out of this world. Then factor in the service and hospitality. Well, I'm wondering if I can go again today. I feel truly blessed to have found this gem. I cannot recommend pane e vino enough!!!

Highly recommended! Fantastic service, everyone was very friendly and great, great food; loved it! Proper typical Italian food with tasty and fresh ingredients, I am not usually a fan of dessert because I love my savory but their 'krapfen' was light and fluffy and absolutely delicious:-) We will come back for sure!

Penwortham's hidden gem - absolutely love this place. If you want Italian with a menu which is different to the norm this is the place to go. The food is amazing, the presentation is great and the service is fantastic. Love what they have done with the place and can't wait to be able to dine in there again - in the meantime enjoying their take away menu. Just had a fabulous Valentine's Day meal. The beetroot risotto was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection.

A group of 6 of us went for a meal after visiting one of the areas craft bars. The food was great, the service out of this world. The product knowledge and wine pairings were outstanding. Can't wait to visit again.

Hi, we visited for the first time yesterday evening and I am so excited to find you. THANK YOU for being true to your Italian heritage and giving us authentic food, wine and hospitality! We have been so fed up with eating at generic, so called Italian restaurants serving pasta swimming in cream etc. I can't wait to visit again soon xx

Been twice and was not sure from the previous owners, but was every please. First visit we were cautious with the menu but second time went with the daily specials and recommendations from the staff and was wonderful. Can best explain as Nanas cooking which is a great complement! Will be back and great to have another option in Penwortham.
