Visited as part of a pub crawl round Penrith. Really lovely historic building with at least 3 impressive fireplaces.Had a lovely pint of Loweswater Gold. One of my favourite beers. They were doing a roaring trade in food. Apparently been some staff shortages due to Covid so some reviews blame them for this.

Good relaxed olde pub. The pie was big and packed with steak :) and good veg with it. Decent proper chips. Friendly staff. Dog friendly.

Highly recommended, we popped in for a bite to eat and a pint, we were not disappointed. All safety measures were in use, lots of places to sanitse your hands, a friendly welcome greeted us, the food was beautiful and the beer was cold. Next time we are back in Penrith, we will definitely be popping in.

Perfect nearly. My pie was delicious. But no creme brulee. Very enjoyable evening. Thanks.

Giving five stars as the sticky toffee pudding is some of the best I’ve ever had. The sponge was lovely and sweet ; and the toffee wasn’t overly sweet or stodgy which was perfect for me!

We didn't make s booking and we were pleasantly surprised the staff went over and beyond to make us up a table. The menu was varied and I loved the clear dairy and gluten free notation on the menu. I had lobster risotto to start which was a little el dente for me but still yummy. I then had fish and chips with gluten free batter. Worth eating here.

Lovely ambience in what is a very old building, so the decor reflects this. Plenty of comfortable seating in several rooms. Very busy on the night we visited, which often reflects popularity, especially these days when pubs can be empty. Young, very pleasant and accommodating staff. We had a meal that was very generous in proportion and served piping hot.

A superb pub. History oozing from the walls. Lovely staff. Loads of room with lots of little areas to sit quietly. Didn't eat there but the drinks were good and the prices fair. Definitely recommend.

Had another good meal here, found the staff to be friendly, efficient and attentive unlike some other recent reviews. This time we were in the bar area which isn’t as pleasant a place to sit as the restaurant. I think warmer lighting and candles on the table would improve the ambience without detracting from the historic beauty of the building. Thanks, we will return!

Arrived in Penrith with no real idea where to eat. Dockray Hall looked nice from the outside and had good recommendations. What a delight with warm welcoming staff in a lovely setting. Food was excellent pink beef and a veggie nutroast. Nice range of beer and wine. Well worth a visit.
