Beautiful location, beautiful birds. The bird handler was very nice and informative. Charming bit quite small coffee shop. The only thing I would suggest is sign posts to the viewing field and a shelter over the seating area.

We had a great time here in July. The Bird display was fantastic and we were made to feel most welcome :D Loved the tearoom (the Victoria sponge was DIVINE!) and the place is run by a truly lovely couple. We will definitely be back for a return visit xx (Sorry i'm a little late with this review(!) but i've only just spotted the option!)

Great afternoon out. Lovely homemade scones & homemade strawberry jam. Very informative & engaging talk on all the birds. It is nice to see someone so passionate about what they do

Lovely quiet courtyard (if the weather is nice!) - you might also get a visit from Missy, the resident cat (who was very friendly). A fresh orange & white chocolate sponge cake was just ready as we walked in - yum!

Great show with some very impressive birds in action. Very entertaining chap who runs the place and keeps the birds. Recommended for all ages!

Brilliant experience close up to a wide variety of raptors open from 12.00. The display starts at 14.00 and you can get involved if you wish. Very interesting, good fun and well presented. Nice tea room to finish. All for a very reasonable entry fee. Makes a good combination with Lowther Castle nearby. (nb separate businesses).

Excellent day out couldn't recommend it enough. Paul the falconer was really interesting very knowledgeable and made the display and talk fun and interactive. Great for kids and adults. All the visitors on our talk really enjoyed it. Would definitely go back again in the future. If I'm honest wasn't expecting much from a bird of prey centre in the Lake District but can see now why it's rated so highly on trip advisor

What a gem of a place! The couple running it are charming and can't do enough to make your visit here a memorable one. The food in the tea room was fantastic, the decor is quirky and very unique. The birds of prey display was excellent and I'm gutted my small children are currently to young to of sat through it all, they're 3 and 5. But we'll be bringing them back when they're old enough of to fully appreciate the beauty of the birds on display and the knowledge of the curator who does the displays. His knowledge and love of the birds he displays is enhanced by his humorous showmanship and lovely little tea room run by his wife, in my opinion, makes this a must visit attractions for everyone.

Planned this visit while on a short break in september, well worth the visit! The tea room is a bit quirky with odd bits for sale and to browse over. Had lovely food and drinks on a freezing cold day before the bird show. Falconer was very knowledgable and I felt the birds were well cared for and had freedom for flight although I would prefer to see them free flying as most people would. Overall it was a very good day out and worth the entry fee which I think was pretty cheap!!

The staff were lovely offering a discount as we were late in the day. They stayed behind to talk to us about the owls and attractions around penrith. Antiques like bit was nice to look around. Whole place in general was a good size and had a good variety of birds in a lovely open atmosphere.

Very good display, depends how into birds you are, if you love them you can arrive with plenty of time before a display in order to properly and them. if like me your not a fanatic, if you get there early, you can mooch about looking at the birds, then chill in the great cafe/tea room until a show starts

Superb 2 hour flying display by an extremely knowledgeable and affable host. The best falconry display I have ever been to. My two daughters were captivated throughout.

Turned up on a miserable wet day with gale force winds. We dived into the coffee shop and spent an easy hour drinking the excellent coffee and trying to stay away from the delicious looking cakes. We went out for a look around and discovered that the walled garden was lovely, kept a lot of the rain and wind away as well. The birds, although not kept in modern pens, looked content and comfortable enough, as well as looking alert and healthy. After another fortifying coffee we braved the elements again for the flying demonstration with Colin. We experienced a really close up and personal display with 2 Gyr Falcons a peregrine and a Harris Hawk. We were very close with the birds coming right through the crowd, Colin had a great knowledge of the birds, explained that they had a breeding programme and was obviously someone who cared deeply about his charges, even the Harris Hawk that preferred sitting on Colins head. We snuck back into the tea room and gave in to the fresh baked scones. Despite the weather we had a great day out, I am a wildlife nut and had no issues with the conditions that the birds were kept in. I will definitely go back, hopefully with better weather, to visit again. Will take bigger lens for camera next time. Speaking of which the show was very free and easy, unlike a lot of places that are more constrained in what you can and cannot do.

I really enjoyed here. A rustic old tea room. After that the birds of prey are well worth a look. The guy that does the presentation and flying should be on TV - very amusing and entertaining but also informative.
