A veritable oasis of a café. Delightful staff and delicious food in a unique setting. One of the best. Lovely used book shop underneath too.
Had a Lovley time here with my boyfriend and sister in law. Very reasonably priced. All had lunch, pudding and and coffee was £30 in total. Staff, we're friendly and attentive. Having previously worked in coffee genius I new the Carvetti coffee would be lovley. Downstairs there is a book shop and outside there are lots of antiques, furniture all kinds of kick nacks. Really cool place. Would definitely reccomend and will definitely be back again. Great job staff members!! :)
Warm and inviting environment and excellent food! I LOVE that there are always vegan options on the menu and delicious ones at that. It has fast become my favourite place to grab some food or a coffee with friends or while I'm working.
An amazing addition to Penrith. Cool stylish interior with a mix of old and new that is executed with skill. Gorgeous outdoor space with amazing views. The menu is light, fresh and tasty with exciting new things to try. The cake selection is out of this world, totally loved the passion fruit cake smothered in Italian meringue. I'm a tea person and there is a quality selection served in delightful cups. I would highly recommend a visit.
It's my favourite spot in penrith as a vegan, as there are usually several options from salads and soups to specials, and they are always really tasty. The peppermint crunch and caramel peanut slice are also vegan and gorgeous!
We visit Penrith every couple of months and always pop into The Yard. Itt is without doubt the nicest coffee, delicious food (ncluding gluten free), scrummy cakes and service with a smile.
An absolute must if you are in the area - you will not be disappointed :-)
Absolutely fabulous the most delicious cheese, asparagus tart, lovely salad and chutney and excellent rose wine very busy obviously a favourite lunching spot for mums who lunch, will definitely go back when passing through!

Really lovely fresh food. The tart of the day was delicious and sitting in the sunshine with a glass of prosecco looking over East Fells finished it off. Fantastic ... Highly recommended
First visit this lunchtime. Fantastic place, staff very friendly & food gorgeous. Cauliflower & Broccoli Bake delicious, Hot chocolate amazing & no room left for a pudding, so we've brought the Salted Caramel & "Toffee Shop" Fudge Cheesecake home for later. Will definitely be back :-).
Visited yesterday with friends, baby and dog great service and friendly staff! The food was lovely homemade food which we all enjoyed by the log fire great little find!
This is one of the loveliest places I ever been to. Packed with good books, I found some classics, even Russian, my daughter bought art books, the food is excellent, the best value for money you can get. I will surely go back when in Penrith. And the people- super. I have no pictures of the place, except my meal.
A lovely surprise, and often popular by those who know, an up-cycled decor that is warm, welcoming and will give you lots to look at and talk about. The staff are friendly and seem genuinely happy to be there, they have a large daily board to keep things changing, and the usual combinations put to you in food and drinks makes it an adventure to visit time and again.
If you’re visiting the Lake District do not miss the opportunity to drop by here! Dog friendly so you can bring your four legged family members too! Large seating areas, a vast amount of it is sheltered, protected from the elements. Lots of parking less than a minute walk. Staff are attentive, friendly and “nothing too much” take on things. Impressive knowledge base on the menu and dietary options. Excellent meal/drinks every time, we go regularly throughout the year and consistency is one of their strongest points for both quality and taste. Love to support local businesses but this place triumphs as one of our favourites because the food is amazing. Cakes/treats are a must have. OMG THE PANCAKES WERE AMAZING!
What a delightful place for a lunch/coffee break. Located on Brunswick Rd alongside Morrisons Food Market. On arrival we were made very welcome by friendly helpful staff. The interior is rustic-industrial with a good range of comfortable seating in three different rooms upstairs. Including sofas and chairs in front of a log fire, very relaxing. There is also a tidy alfresco area. The cakes are fresh and quite mouth watering made on site, the coffee is from a local boutique supplier. We were very impressed and will visit again.
Had a delicious chai latte and brownie. Cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. Lots of choice of drinks and cake. Would definitely recommend!
I had a lovely soup, mocha and Victoria sponge cake. They have a nice menu that includes vegan options. I also noticed that they have signs you can put on your table if you're happy to share the table with other guests. A great idea since the place is definitely cost!
While the staff are friendly, they are definitely inefficient. Service took a lot longer than it should have.
The menu was small and limited to brunch items only. We had a veggie buddha bun and a sausage and egg bap and they were both pretty good. The coffee is very good and they have some single origin options available. The best thing here is the cake which is fantastic. The millionaires shortbread was one of the best I've had and it was huge.

Sooooooo tasty! Honestly I can't get enough of this place. The team there are super friendly, the food is great. They're are always vegan options. This is the best food and coffee in the area. They do what they do really well. Interior is really well thought out too.
Nipped in for a coffee, left after pizza & sweet treats! Friendly staff who were great with our nervous dog, will definitely return.
I love this place. Great coffee and cakes. Good lunches too. If it's sunny, it's gorgeous to sit outside, but inside is nice too. Definitely recommend it.
