Called in for a late lunch on a Wednesday, the only pub in the area that serves a full menu for more than 30 minutes a day. Service and food both absolutely brilliant. My partner had the steal and ale pie and boy was I jealous, that pie was the most delicious pie I've ever tasted, so good, that I'm contemplating returning tomorrow so I can order it. I had the steak burger which was ace, and our 2 kids demolished their kids meals. Fully recommend.

Cosy, characterful pub in a lovely village. Extensive menu, with vegetarian options. Absolutely fantastic food, especially the pies if you can go on Pie Night. Great value too.

The food at the Herdwick was very nice though I would leave off the frozen onion rings off the gammon steaks or use home made. The service was lacking having to get up and go to the bar for drinks, dessert menus and the bill. This won't stop is going again. The Herdwick is a warm and friendly pub.

Stayed here for 1 night. It’s in a very small, quiet village with no amenities close by, which we was perfect for us as we were using the hotel as a stopover for exploring The Lakes. I think it would be a perfect base if you were Fell walking in the area. Penrith is a short 10min drive if you want/need amenities. The rooms are small but, lovely and clean, with a nice size bed (a little soft for my liking) with en-suite toilet/shower. There’s literally no traffic noise, but the noise from then bar below does travel into the room, so if you’re in bed before 10ish this will disturb you. We didn’t eat dinner, but there were a few people who were when we checked in, the bar is cosy with a good atmosphere, think it’s the main place to gather in the village. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order, plenty of tea/coffee and juices too. In summary, perfect for a stopover if you want to be on the doorstep of The Lakes without paying the over inflated prices.

We managed to find this little gem of a pub as we were staying in the local area. From the outside it seems like your classic little local pub and inside is even better. The car park had plenty of space to park several vehicles, the rear garden outside area was spacious as well which I can imagine is beautiful in the summer when it's beaming down. We found a nice little spot to sit down and became to look through the menu. The menu was very carefully chosen with a good variety of food that catered for all. We were not that hungry but after seeing the gammon and the pie come out, this QUICKLY got eaten all up. Very flavourful food, great service from the young Irish man. I forget this name but he recently came over from Ireland with his girlfriend. He was very polite, kind and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he made us feel at home after a long day of travelling up here. Food was very good quality and made with love. The drinks selection was very good as well. Thank you so much, we will be back to try rest of the food!

I had the pleasure of dining at the Herdwick Inn with my girlfriend, and it was an exceptional experience. The service was top-notch, and the food was simply amazing. I can confidently say it was a five-star service all the way. The inn itself carries a charming, old-world ambiance, beautifully decorated with classic touches that added to the overall charm. It's a perfect setting for aa special meal. I would highly recommend the Herdwick Inn for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience. It's a place where great service and fantastic food come together in a classic and inviting atmosphere. A memorable evening indeed. Five stars!
