I'm a huge fan of Compass Coffee. We were in Cardiff for a day and a half, and wanted to grab breakfast before getting on the road north. Honestly, Cardiff doesn't have a ton of exciting breakfast places, but this place makes the cut. Situated in the marina, with the patio overlooking the yachts, boats, and ships in the marina, it's a great view. But, the food rivals the view. Honestly, nothing is overly exciting and wild, but the variety of choices, good combinations, and litany of options for customization makes it perfect. Whether you want the monster Skipper or just a light order of toast, it's high quality and delicious. The ingredients are mostly local, and ridiculously high quality, and nothing on the menu is over 10pounds. The coffee is incredible, which was a nice relief from the Costas of the week. Also, they have some killer cupcakes. We grabbed a few to take on the road with us, and I'm pretty sure they were consumed in under an hour. Really good stuff.

Great brunch food, INCREDIBLE coffee. Had a large mocha - can't go wrong starting your day with that.

One of my favourite places to visit when in Penarth. I always have the Captains breakfast and as someone whose had a few fry ups in my time it’s faultless. Every ingredient on the plate is of the highest quality, and also more importantly the tea pot is a genuine two cup pot! Friendly warm service from all members of staff adds to the experience. Really good value for money too. Adore sitting outside, chatting and people watching. Great way to while away some time!

Really nice cafe with a nice view and amazing staff. Tried strawberry ice cream shake and I would say it's the best I had in the UK so far. Drop by if you are in Penarth

6/5 if I could. Genuinely the best full english I've ever had in a cafe. All great quality ingredients, the egg was cooked perfectly, and the toast was just right. Ordered a cappuccino as well and it was an actual cappuccino, with the frothy milk you expect and not just steamed milk. The staff are all super friendly and welcoming as well. A proper gem in Penarth.

What a fabulous little place with such friendly staff. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious 😋 my other half had to take a work call and had to go sit in the car for 30 minutes leaving me inside alone, the lovely lady behind the counter chatted with me and also offered to sort my partners coffee when he got back inside so he didn't have a cold drink to come back to! We both said in the car after we left how happy we came upon this place today after planning on going somewhere else! We will be back intentionally next time. Thanks for a wonderful brunch ❤

I came here with my family on a recent visit to Penarth and I was so happy with the amazing food and the wonderful service that we came back the next day. I find it extremely difficult to eat out because I have special dietary needs. My usual experience when looking at menus is, 'Oh what can I eat? I can't have anything on here!' However, I had a completely different experience at 'The Galley' because there was so much food that I could eat! It was all beautifully prepared and presented. I can't praise them enough. My family and I would definitely come here again, in fact it's the ONLY place we would recommend. Great food, great prices, great service. What more could anyone want?

First visit today , initially just going to have a coffee. Very warm cosy atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Warm welcome from the owner and very clean. Extensive menu at reasonable prices - until my brown bread tuna sandwich arrived. Then it became more than reasonable ! Thick slices of granary stuffed full of tuna , a proper sandwich 🥪 My wife had a tikka wrap , very spicy , very filling , both with a small side salad and washed down with a flavour packed coffee. All the ingredients are sourced locally. I will definitely be back to try their breakfast or brunch which looked great and no doubt will be delicious . A real gem of a cafe . Recommended.
