This can be a busy pub restaurant on a hot summers day but today it was pleasantly quiet for lunch.
Quite a large pub with outside seating nicely decorated with pleasant staff.
Stunning views of the English Channel & the smell of the sea enhances the location in Tescombe just 4 miles east of Brighton.
The meals were excellent & today's choice was Haddock Fishcakes & Pie of the Day, Steak & Kidney.
We'll worth a visit.
Very nice place to stop off and have a few cold pint on a warm day. Great views of the sea from outside seating. very friendly and polite staff.
I have been here many times before but this is my first review on Google maps. Full 5 star rating ★★★★★
We stopped here on our way from Seven Sisters to Brighton and we absolutely loved. We were taken away by most of the starters so we shared a 5-6 on them instead of going for mains. The food is lovely and the view is really amazing. Place was not very busy and we got our food quite fast.
Can't wait to be here again!
Edited: I've been back a few times now and I have to say, it's a little hit and miss. Changing to 4 stars because the menu actually isn't that great. After a few visits, I don't have any desire to return for food, though I'd happily stop for a few drinks in the sun.
First review = 5 stars
Amazing meal, beautiful location, exceptional service, and very dog friendly.
We visited on Sunday lunchtime without a reservation and the staff were really apologetic that there were no tables inside. We sat out on the deck and it was perfect. Extraordinary views over the sea, both shaded and sunny areas to sit in, comfortable seating, and enclosed enough to let the dog have some freedom. The meals were lovely, large portions, and just a little over £100 for 2 courses for 4, with drinks. You can order from the app at the table or go inside to order in person. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, brought more drinks and gravy to the table, and water for the dog when asked. It was all clean and they cleared up as soon as someone left.
So pleased we found this place and looking forward to visiting in the summer.
Lovely festive vibe and really warm inside with fires burning. 2 for £12 festive cocktails, these are Gingerbread Expresso Martini's. Really good service, really friendly and welcoming staff. Recommend a visit and will definitely be going back.
*** went back again recently and they did not disappoint. Food was lovely & service was good. We all enjoyed our food and the experience ***
Date of visit 27.8.23. A real surprise. Really good food and exceptional table service. The food did take a little while to come, but the waitress kept all her customers informed of the delay and was extremely courteous and helpful. It was the Bank Holiday after all.
Food was really good. Comfortable pub and nice outdoor space. When I booked, and asked for an outdoor space, they called back to confirm that it was fine. It would have been useful to book the outside space on-line. Maybe something to look at? All in all though, a great experience. Thank you. My guests/friends were all very happy.
Visited for a works Christmas Party, food was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and attentive, my only slight complaint was that they had run out of several food options including the Turkey Christmas dinner which is what we all had wanted! I wouldn't have minded so much but I had specifically called the week before and asked if we needed to pre-order and was told that it wasn't necessary! We would go again but would definitely ask to pre-order next time to avoid disappointment. I would still recommend as the food we did end up with was fantastic just not what we really wanted.
Sitting outside, watching the sunset while enjoying a roast. What more could you want in life.
Great location, friendly staff and beautiful views.
Visited here for lunch one weekend in October. We had variations of the Sunday Roast and traditional options such as Fish and Chips. The Turkey was by far the best roast option!
Staff were friendly and attentative, and the food was on the whole good. It wasn't that busy although it is a big pub with plenty of tables. The pub is also dog friendly.
There is seating outside too and plenty of parking. Worth a visit.
Nice pub. Incredible views over the English Channel. Food and service was generally good. Nothing extraordinary but it’s a chain so you get what you pay for. Would be happy to go there again.
Characterful venue that looks great for events. The ladies at the bar Olivia, Sophie and Addison made me and my friends lovely cocktails and were very cheerful. The honey pot pudding was also AMAZING, would definitely recommend.
Thank you smugglers managers and staff for delivering great service. See you soon!
Cozy pub, lovely and warm by cliffs, dog friendly, great menu at an affordable price, large car park accommodate motor homes up to 7 meters.
Spoilt for choice on beer selection 🤷♂️
Only went for a drink and sat outside on the sunny decking overlooking the sea. Very busy outside with cyclists and dog walkers.
Large selection of drinks, reasonable prices.
Despite being a busy Saturday afternoon , tables / public areas were clean.
Would definitely visit again if in the area
Had a great meal here. We were served by Debbie who was fantastic, she was very attentative and helpful.
All the staff were lovely and the venue itself is fantastic. We both had roast dinners, pork and beef - both really nice.
Food was good. Great place for socialising on hot summer days with an incredible view of the sea.
Easy parking access.
Exceptional service and lovely atmosphere by the coast. Thanks especially to Olivia and Chef Sophie for making this a memorable birthday celebration. Definitely recommended for a memorable occasion.
