This is a great pub with a great atmosphere and the food is very good, I had the fish and chips and it says it's big it does not disappoint, perfectly cooked, my wife had the steak and ale pie and again beautiful, the beers are good. It normally runs really well, but for some reason today the few staff that were in seemed to be all over the place, things going wrong all the time, however it didn't affect us, I still give it 5* as I genuinely think this place is great

We've stopped there a few times (we have a patterdale terrier, so make the trip to patterdale a couple of times a year, dogs are welcome in this establishment) and always order their breakfast. Good value for money and very generous portions (yet to finish one). We've been here a couple of times on the motorbike and bikers don't get a ready welcome everywhere but they do here. Very friendly staff, couldn't recommend this place more.

Just back from a weekend at Side Farm. Ate and drank (a lot) at White Lion. My friends and I tried a number of meals from the menu with not one person being left dissatisfied or hungry. Top beer, top bait! Last ones in the pub from Friday to Sunday and nothing was a problem. Open fire was nice after a long day walking in the rain too. Bar staff were great, met Ashley and Andy the owners, top fellas especially when allowing customers to decide on which disinfectant should be used in the bathrooms. Well played gents!!

Fantastic long weekend break at The White Lion. Stayed 4 night over Easter. Rooms clean, bar cozy, staff and owners very friendly. Food was delicious and they catered well for my vegan son and girlfriend and loads of choice for other dietary needs. Really a gem of a place. Thoroughly recommended for accommodation, food and pub. Thanks to all the owners and staff. Will be back in the summer to do Helvellyn.

Arrived at a B&B and walked here not sure whether food would still be served at 9pm. It was and we had burger with bacon and blue cheese and a bottle of wine. Staff were fab , food was lush and place was great. Well recommended

Excellent service. The gent behind the bar brought water and biscuits for our dog. It's the little touches that go along way. Food great for the price. Deffo be back.

We were really pleased with the staff and the meals we received at the inn. Matt was really polite and had a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding area. We were suggested this place from the book in our B&B which was full of positive reviews. The menu was still for spring 2022, but we enjoyed everything we saw on that and the specials board. We had a two course meal and weren't disappointed in the slightest. The food was lovely and the ales and beers brilliant. Size of the mains were medium but filling and you could add chips to all your meals for 99p. The pub was cold which I know a lot of reviews are saying, but that's the energy crisis for businesses right now. The chef was friendly and so was Matt. We will for sure be coming back, not just for the dogs either!!

Great Patterdale pub, friendly staff lots of nooks and crannies to sit in to enjoy the excellent beer. This is not your standard chain pub, it has a bit of character. This is reflected in the decor. Lots of ornaments and amusing signs to read.

Good for a nice place to chill after a day on the hill’s, staff are friendly and attentive. The food was very nice 2 days in a row. Football on the TV but we can’t blame them for Spurs loosing 😂 all in all a great experience

Fantastic little pub for food and refreshments. Especially after a long hike on the fells. It’s dog friendly (they even have free dog biscuits). Staff are very friendly and polite. Definitely recommend visiting here. 10/10 for service.

Just the kind of pub you want to 'discover' in the Lake District. Good choice of beers, friendly staff, lovely food. Can even get take away draught in two pint containers. Loved it!

Great little pub! The barman is very friendly and the food is delicious. The pub is a little small so I would recommend coming before 6pm to guarantee yourself a table, especially Friday and Saturday evening.

I loved this pub, my favourite in the area. We ate here once and even though its a standard pub menu the food was excellent, maybe the best fish and chips I've had in a pub. There is a little room with amazing views of Place Fell. The pub itself feels very cosy but you can actually fit quite a lot of people in as our group discovered. There was live music one night (Steve in the hat) that was great but still plenty of nooks in the pub where you could talk. The real ales were good. The barman did a great job at serving a large group of people and stayed in good spirits.

I highly recommend the pub and its owners. They really went above and beyond to help us and two hungry kids out with food when they had long stopped serving and our walk had been longer than anticipated. Super friendly and genuinely generous fellas.
