Had a meal tonight with 6 friends at Ye Olde Smokey House for the first time and was very impressed with the friendly staff and waitresses and the food was amazing having had a carvery tonight. the food is reasonably priced and a great atmosphere, the waitress who served us deserves a pay rise as she was very helpful and friendly and beautiful. Highly recommended if you enjoy good food and a good atmosphere and great staff! :)

I have the Micky taken because when I get home I tell everyone that the beef melts in your mouth so I have told you now. Truth is my wife and I come to Paignton a lot and every time we come we have at least one meal here and if we bring friends we take them there! It is genuinely one of the best places we have eaten
Had the best service yesterday from start to finish! Lovely young lady found us a table in the busy restaurant even though we hadnt booked, was polite and helpful telling us about the best deals and when I had to rush off to an emergency before being able to eat, she was helpful to the rest of my family and made me feel very welcome on return! Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and her good service was very much appreciated by all, making our experience an excellent one! Thank you and sorry I didn't catch your name.
One of the best caverys ever plate was put on tray so you didnt have to worry about carrying hot plate with serviete food was delicious and staff friendly

Went there for mine and girlfriends anniversary meal. Staff were really friendly and helpful and could not of done more to help. The food was amazing and price was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend it to others

Lovely atmosphere, very clean and warm welcoming staff. I had the roast and my wife had chilli con carne, both nice meals. Great roast pots and good quality veg, my only small criticism would be is the way the meat is sliced and served. We will definitely be going back in the near future.
Here on holiday. Was out walking and found this amazing place. Stopped off for a cheeky drink and snack we had warm baguette salad home made coleslaw and crisps absolutely beautiful. Staff really friendly and helpful. Will be booking a table for an evening meal before going back home.
A lovely family meal with 14 in total we had pre booked our starters and mains which obviously made it easier for them which is understandable when you're a large party everything was excellent from start to finish everyone enjoyed their food the staff were very welcoming and helpful
Dropped in just before lunchtime service stopped without a reservation and had a lovely sandwich with perfectly cooked fries. Decent prices, geberous portions, quick service and plenty of parking.

Managed to get us in for a table for 2 on a Sunday evening at short notice. Food - carvery was incredible! So tasty! And generous with the meat. Roasties were lovely, as was the gravy. Will definitely be back!
Went on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. We arrived as a family group of 5 4 of us including a child of 10yrs had the roast dinner which was all you could eat and was delicious. The Mother-in-law had lasagne which she cleared as normally doesn't do. She and my partner went on to have desserts mother-in-law sticky toffee pudding and partner a Roulade My son so full from dinner declined a dessert which he normally has Myself and Father-in-law had Rum coffees to finish the meal A good price for 5 persons with food and drinks and coffee's Recommend establishment
Good value pub. Somewhat dated but has its own charm. Do small plates during the week for those with a lesser appetite.
Attentive service. Buy 2 x 250 ml glasses of wine get rest of bottle free. No complaints with that 🙂.
Love this place! Great food and the staff are lovely! We try and go every week. The carvery is great but the homemade lasagne is my favourite! Also the fish menu is very good. 👍

my partner and I visited on a saturday evening, we were greeted promptly by friendly staff. All the staff seemed to work well as a team, the young chap who served us was friendly and prompt in taking our order. we ordered two starters, essentially a prawn cocktail and then also mushrooms and bacon in a garlic creamy sauce with bread.
The prawns were bland and tasted as if they had been frozen, the bread and salad was good though. My mushroom starter was gorgeous, really tasty and well cooked. The starters only took 10 minutes to arrive which was impressive considering it was a saturday night.
Our mains were a rack of ribs with chips and salad, the ribs were beautifully cooked but the sauce was very overpowering, very sweet and tangy. The chips were pretty good.
The drinks we ordered came with a free refill which was ace.
My main was lamb chops and mash with gravy and veg from the carvery, the veg was nice but not as hot as it could have been, the lamb and mash and gravy was exquisite and a generous portion size although you definitely paid for it at £17.99 - i was happy to pay that considering how good it was and I’m hard to please!!
The ladies loo was a little untidy with one of the seats hanging on crooked. A little improvement in the loos would really help the overall feel of the venue.
The decor is lovely, warming, comfortable and well laid out. I would definitely visit again and try something else on the menu :) Thanks to all the staff.
