We visited for the first time on Saturday and found all of the staff very friendly, and the food was freshly cooked. We all agreed these were the best fish and chips we had ever had, and we will definitely be coming back.
This is the best fish shop in the bay. I called in yesterday, and the meal was 100%. The staff were great, and really helpful.
Some of the reviews who run this place down, are over 3 years old, This man didn't own it then.
Trust me, You will enjoy your meal here.
Why is this place not open more. I shop both here and across the road at the London Frier because this shop has only a few opening times. The food is cooked to order so there is always a wait but the quality is always great. The staff are lovely especially Kerry and they work really hard. I only have good things to say about this chip shop near the sea front. The que system needs to be more simple as you wait next to people who are eating their food. Maybe a barrier could be used to stop people from standing next to others eating. But overall good food.
Brilliant size Cod , chips not greasy like some other Chippys. Very attractive and friendly staff .

Being a regular visitor to the bay over the years, we've always used Richards for family meals - the other chippies just don't come anywhere close to them.
So pleased that quality and value for money has continued since our first visit to Richards....must be over 15-years now.
So, we're pleased to say that now we've moved into the area, we're able to spoil ourselves on a weekly basis.

Freshest fish there is. If you are on a 'seefood and eat it' diet then this is the plaice for you. They are a dab hand at serving up sole food. They have a nice atmosphere with piped music although the bass was a bit heavy, one evening they got in a singer, she was perched on a stool, but later she almost clammed up and was definitely floundering. If you can think of a better fish pun…Let minnow.
Great tasty fish and chips. Slight earthy tasting chips which is a sign of fresh spuds. Better than overrated drakes and Hanbury's in babbacombe. Good location also as you enter the begining of the promenade driving south. Yummy
Proper job.....14 hungry kids and adults decended on richards fish cafe after a busy day at the zoo. Staff amazing ..fitted us in moving tables and sorted the kids out.The food was top notch, nice crisp fresh fish. Every one was stuffed full...cant rate it highly enough..a proper local fish n chip shop. Next time we get a day off we will be back.
Great fish and chips, chippy we where using down the road for the past 4 years was really good but the quality has been going down slowly so decided to try Richards chippy, really enjoyed it and if they keep this standard up this place could be are regular

I can only second all other reviewers. We were here at 5pm and we had to queue. Luckily a table was left for us. In the time we sat there 20 take away dishes were served, and ours in between. Tasty plaice with chips and mushy peas. Fresh, not fatty, cross and delicious.
I have been going here for the past couple of Months, every Friday for my Fish Tea. Always, Beautifully Cooked and Presented. Spotlessly Clean, and the Staff always Very Friendly and attentive. Would recommend this place to Anyone.
