The best bar in Oxford! Kane and Elliott are so welcoming. We were visiting from New York and they made us feel like regulars. Fantastic atmosphere and music. They gave us a great recommendation for take away pizza that we had delivered to the bar! This was a perfect send off for our last night in Oxford and a highlight of our trip.

Came here on two consecutive nights during our weekend in Oxford. It’s a relaxed, friendly pub with a good mix of people. A popular beer garden and a wide choice of drinks on offer. Will definitely return.

Long-established traditional pub in the centre of Oxford, but just off the beaten track. A great choice of seating areas inside with lots of nooks and crannies. The back yard is large and really nicely laid out. Serving Sunday roast wraps for £7.50 on the afternoon of our visit! Good choice of ales and craft beers. Really liked the place and would return.

As older couples, who knew it was LGBT pub, and I think some other letters to be added, we were made very welcome. It is an experience to see the diversity and this would never put us off from going back. I would say that the toilet arrangement wasn’t something we hadn’t experienced before. It had obviously originally been one for the ladies and one for the gents but now they’re gender neutral, with a very small print saying what is behind each door. The old Gents has a trap and two urinals. The old ladies has only three traps. My wife and my friends wife went to what was the ladies to find a guy in the middle trap and he shouted out to say he was in the middle (trap two). They knew this because the door to trap two was actually open! 😂 An unusual experience for us but highly recommended going here. It’s a really old building with loads of character, a great atmosphere and the staff are great.

Love this spot! Delicious draught selection. Should be the official destination for American mums who just settled their first born in an Oxford hall 💛 😢 🙌. Cider, makes everything better!

Love this place. Jubel peach lager on tap and it's a historic oasis from the mauve, elephants breath and sharer boards of modern bars. No kitchen, takeaway deliveries welcome, enclosed garden, resident basset hound. Well kept ale.

A haven of peace and with very cosy armchairs and surroundings just a couple of minutes walk from the bustle of the city centre. Very friendly staff and the quiet piped music ensured that my wife and I could chat easily. We make a point of drinking here whenever we visit Oxford.

Fantastic old little gem in the centre of Oxford. It is great that this place is still here and that is has not been converted into a Tesco express yet. It was a Saturday evening when I attended, mostly younger people and students but the atmosphere was great, the sofas were super comfy, and the range and prices for drinks aren't too bad. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Look forward to visiting it and Oxford again soon.

Excellent service very friendly bar staff. It's a beautiful old pub with black beams and big stone open fire places. I would imagine pints of history have been poured and drank over hundreds of years! The pub as lots of nooks, low lit cozy areas for privacy for groups or couples. There's an amazing rear garden, so cozy with viable flame garden heaters to warm the chilly nights, tropical looking raised gardens with exotic plants adding to the charm, you can almost hear the gentle waves on the golden sands... You soon forget you're right in the centre of Oxford. 👍😘
