Overalls a unique spot in Oxford that’s worth a visit.
After my first visit last night, I can now understand the hype around this Oxford institution. Great range of really creamy, filling ice cream including some very quirky flavours. I wanted to have a brownie sundae and they had sold out of brownies but the staff let me have a brookie instead (brownie with cookie dough, highly recommend). The server very patiently allowed me to try a few ice cream flavours so I could make up my mind (I am terrible at choosing things on the spot!). The sundae was beautifully presented and a real treat. A very nice spot to people watch and meet friends, although a little noisy if you wanted to work (although surely the ice cream is the whole point of coming... )
Great locally sourced ice cream with very interesting and unique flavours.
Peach was excellent!
Don't forget to do the daily quiz and have a chance for a free scoop. Many thanks 😊
tasty bagels - though our pizza bagel was quite overloaded with pepperoni and tomato sauce. Nice spot to sit outside (shame about the wasps so it'd be good to empty the bin frequently).
Quirky ice cream outlet with multiple locations around the city. About a dozen flavours themed mainly around chocolate bars/sweet flavours. Generous portions
An Oxford institution! You simply have to go to G&D to have some of their lovely ice cream. The staff are fantastically friendly, the prices aren't ridiculous and the ice cream is great. You can't go wrong - they're even open till late!
A very welcoming place when you need a place to work on your own stuff and do not want to be disturbed. Accommodating opening hours and genuinely good ice creams and waffles. It’s a favorite for me.
That being said, the place has some obvious drawbacks. The bagel is an abomination (in this country in general, if you’re used to the North American styled ones) and the tables are not always clean. But hey, it’s a cute place and I cannot fault it.
We had coffee with flapjack and chocolate chip cookie outside in the sun - it can't get much better. Good prices.
I love the ice cream of G&D, but some of the flavours aren't up to the mark. Having been here for more than 6 months, and have tried several times from two of their outlets in Oxford - one in front of Christ Church college and the other in Little Clarendon street, I can say that while some of their flavours are really outstanding, I personally found the others are just average (even those flavours which I otherwise love !).
One of the problem at both the outlets is large queue. Everytime I have been to either of the shops, the queue is quite long and service seems to be slow - especially on weekends. However, I understand that there are certain things beyond the control and hence won't leave a bad rating just for long queues (which indicate that people love their ice-creams). Hope the team is able to make the process slightly fast and queues a bit smaller.
A wide variety of interesting flavors are available. A place always buzzing with kids, youth and elderlies alike.
good ice cream and nice flavours but the waffles were a bit tasteless
Wonderful ice cream and coffee in a beautiful clean café. Perfect setting in the heart of Oxford.
Best Ice Cream in the UK! The interesting flavour range appeals the most to me and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Oxford. The waffles are also great here!
Little Cafe serving coffees, teas, lunch and ice cream. Nice environment. Comfortable seating
So great!! The bagels are homemade and whilst they have pre made options you can make your bagel you can have hot or cold. Good selection of ice cream, nice coffee and friendly staff.
