We arrived early for our booking which i had made online. We were shown to our table by a very helpful chap. The setting and the Trout itself was lovely. We had a bit of a wait for the waiter to take our order but on a busy Friday night it's to be expected. Our orders were taken and we could not fault the food or the waiting staff. The whole table enjoyed their food. I have no hesitation in recommending this pub. It is definitely somewhere we would come back to on our next visit to Oxford from Yorkshire.

So difficult to choose from the menu as there was such a lovely choice. All the food was amazing, and service was great too, very accommodating and with good humour. Thank you for a lovely lunch!

If it is a beautiful summer’s day and you can get there early, then there’s nothing nicer than a table by the river. The food is good enough, but it’s the atmosphere on days like that which make it special.

Stopped by for lunch today, much busier than usual. Staff definitely deserve medals for some of the grief they had to endure from "uptight patrons". Lovely place, excellent customer service. Fantastic food.

Absolutely amazing! Food was so lovely and flavoursome for all parties! One person couldn't finish theirs but loved it so much they wanted to take it home! The Australian waitress (with the Star Wars tattoo) we had was out of this world! She was sooooo funny, soooo friendly and sooooo helpful! Definitely need more people like her everywhere and just in general day to day life! Wonderful experience overall!

Very friendly staff, great food, but could be a bit cleaner. The tables were a bit sticky but other than that the food tasted great, we had a very pleasant early dinner and this wonderful pub.

Sit outside! The location is romantic and pleasant on a beautiful day! As a big group we ordered a lot of things and they tasted so delightful. Although the first picture, whatever that was could've been better. That wasn't value for money but the rest was impressive

The Trout Inn is a cosy pub nestled away in the depths of Port Meadows, boasting a fantastic view of the river and the occasional peacock hopping along on its rustic rooftop. The food, however, falls slightly short of its scenic beauty.

I took two friends for lunch as we had stopped for a drink before but never eaten there. I was so pleased that we did! The food was amazing, well presented and so tasty. No pictures of starters as we ate them so quickly as they looked so appetising! All of the staff were friendly and efficient and the service could not be faulted. Great atmosphere for dining in beautiful surroundings. We will certainly be back again!

This is a lovely place to dine and have some drinks or just hang out with friends. The location on the water is so relaxing and inviting. Inside is what one comes to love about English pubs for their warm, inviting and homey atmosphere. This is a can’t miss opportunity for a great experience. Stop in and i know you will agree. 😁

Took a chance on the Google description for my husband's birthday, as we are not from this area. We were not disappointed! The pub itself has a lovely, cozy, olde world atmosphere and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and prices reasonable.

The Sunday menu at the Trout is spot on: a choice of roast and a pared back choice of other meals, meaning that the food is well executed and tasty. The only problem is that the restaurant is clearly understaffed. The waiting staff are very polite and accommodating but they are run off their feet. I hope the staffing will be properly addressed.

We were recommended to come here by a friend and the whole experience was great, the location is idyllic, the restaurant is picturesque and the staff warm and welcoming, the service by Kelly was wonderful. The icing on the cake of course was the food, Alex was our chef who cooked generously proportioned dishes, delicious in every mouthful. It was a culinary masterpiece that we all enjoyed. Will definitely be passing on the recommendation to many others. Well worth the cost and journey into the scenic countryside.

This is an amazing pub, the food was excellent as were the friendly, helpful staff. The location is perfect on a sunny day right by the river for a relaxing lunch or morning coffee.

We had booked as a group of 8 for 3pm on a Saturday. Amble parking in the car park. When we arrived the restaurant was very busy and our table wasn't quite ready and we were directed to the bar. The bar was really busy and we had to wait for drinks, but as it was coming to the end of lunchtime service there were a lot of hot drinks being served and it was taking time to make all these drinks. The bar service was efficient and they were getting through customers as quickly as possible. When it was our turn to be served another customer butted in that they were next (although we had been waiting before them) The bartender correctly mentioned that we were before them, but the customer was having none of it! The bartender began to serve him first but quickly directed another member of staff to us - which we appreciated. The meal was fantastic, the best food we have had for a long time. Large portions and I personally recommend the beef brisket pie! We had our own alcove which was really private and just lovely. The staff were attentive, friendly and not in your face! We would absolutely recommend. We visited in October, I can imagine it's stunning in the summer, sitting outside. We will be back.

The location and atmosphere is amazing, especially in the summer! The food is nice, tasty and fresh but small portions Customer service could be better, had to ask a few times to sort the food out Remember to reserve in advance as it does get quite busy Prices are higher so little bit more expensive than usual pub, no cheap but a good country pub Free parking which is a plus

Perfect Sunday roast experience. Located in a stunning setting alongside River Thames, the inn's tables sit peacefully in the shade. The staff was very friendly and we were served with an impressive speed. The food was of very high standards, both in terms of look and taste - the juicy chicken in particular is to die for - and the iced water lightly infused with lemon brought an exquisite freshness to the meal. Finally, the inn building itself is a historical treasure and quintissentially British.

I would like to thank the staff at the Trout who went out of their way to make my daughter's birthday special. They even gave her a complimentary glass of bubbly. This was undoubtedly the best service I've experienced in a long time. The food was excellent and there was lots to choose from on the menu. I can't think of anything to improve on. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere and I would definitely recommend it.

Went for a family meal on Sunday. Definitely book before as very popular pub on a river setting. The pub was quite warm with radiators on so we felt a little hot and could not open a window although we asked and the server tried I think it was painted shut. We had our desserts outside due to this. We ordered 3 roasts and a curry. Roasts look lovely when presented and I enjoyed my pork one although I did find the potatoes a little hard. However my husband had the beef and found this a little chewy. My mother in law had a child portion of roast and could not cut this very well and again said was chewy. Our server asked about our food and we mentioned the issues. He very promptly apologised and said he would remove the cost of meal from bill as well as a coffee we did not receive. Very well dealt with by server. Other food we saw being served looked well presented. Unfortunately meals in pubs sometimes fail but I think I would revisit as the service and the way our issues were dealt with was very good and other food/desserts was fine.

Extremely hot day, so chose to sit inside. The roasted belly pork was incredible. Roast potatoes poor and the veg undercooked. The service was OK. I would come back again.

Lily our waitress was super friendly, attentive and helpful. The menu was very appealing and the dishes we selected were good. I had the pork belly and it was good but wasn’t as wow as the first time I had it. The little pudding and hot drink was fab - we both had brownies and they were amazing!

We had dinner here on a weekend evening and were very happy with the experience. We went for a mix of starters, main (fish and chips) and dessert (damson and apple crumble; cheesecake trio), with everything being tasty and fresh. Friendly service as well and good selection of drinks. Finally, the location is charming: very nicely located in the countryside but still close enough to Oxford.
