My local pub, my favorite place in Oxford, the best food, the best staff.
Lovely staff, great simple home cooked food. Ideal lunch dropping my daughter off for uni. Offered to pay premium for card pay for a beer coz I didn't quite have enough change, but they let me off the 5p shortage
Best roast dinner in Oxford i have tried! Really good size portions too, staff very friendly! Loved it in here
Five stars and more for the quirkily decorated pub with excellent food and beer. A pint, a roast and an open fire: who could resist?
Lovely Sunday lunch with a group of girls. It's really popular so go early. We had to wait about 30 mins for our food but it was worth the wait. Good value for money too!
Lovely pub, amazing Sunday roasts and wonderful staff who couldn't do enough for us
Lovely Sunday roast. The fireplace was on which gave it a cosy atmosphere.
Good beer selection
Proper pub
GOOD SERVICE
Clean toilets
Lovely sunday lunch and lovely staff. will be back xx
Great pub, really friendly bar staff and excellent beers. A proper boozer with atmosphere!
The Port Mahon took me somewhat by surprise. It's a traditional pub, not very big and doesn't look like anything fancy, apart from a few twinkly fairy lights and a log fire when it's cold. When MrF took me here for a meal I figured it would go one of two ways: either the food would be distinctly average, or it would surprise me and be totally knock-out... Turns out it was the latter! The Phenomenal Steak Platter Having ordered the Steak Platter to share between us, our jaws hit the floor when it arrived, A) because it was huge, and B) it looked AMAZING!! Cue our looks of awe, followed by 30 minutes of unintelligible praise while we feasted on the bounty. If you were ever on death row, ordering your 'last meal' - this should be it. If you want to wow your Dad for father's day - this is what you feed him. Damn, if you just want a glorious plate of food - well, you know the rest. The cut of meat is onglet (aka hanger steak), served pretty blooming rare (don't ask for it to be well done,
Cheap and cheerful, unpretentious pub which caters mainly to the local student population with live music and barbecues.
A very popular and lively pub. Boasting a quirky layout and design with a beautiful spacious garden area.
Good pub with live music upstairs. Probably not one for a quiet chat as it can be a bit more lively than some, but a decent place for a pint. Not the widest selection of drinks, but what is on offer is pretty good.
Staff very friendly and welcoming The sunday roast was to die for great job to 5he chef
Proper pub, great vibe. Great staff great music
Port Mahon was always a great pub, with live music and lots of space to hang out and dance but now its Corona time so its not really the same and before it was 5 stars, now its 4 because of few things, they dont serve food and would have liked that, they cant wait for you to finish the drink and go away, feels unfriendly. Overall its a nice pub but not so much now.
Nice and cosy local pub. Had a terrific Sunday roast here.
Central location with lots of live music events. Beer garden and two large bars. Would prefer to pay cash next time.
Love this place! We frequently come here for drinks and recently, really enjoyed their Sunday roast dinner. The music is great, bar staff are very friendly and there is a nice, relaxed feel about the place.
Very much looking forward to visiting in the summer once the beer garden has had its re-vamp!
Welcoming place with a fireplace and serviable staff. However, this place needs some renovation works.
We came for Sunday roast, and the plate was looking good, but the beef was not cooked properly, and we didn't appreciate the gravy source it was all over on our plate already
Regards
Pretty good pub, only the one handpump but one is better than none especially as the TT Landlord was in good nick.
One of the best Sunday Roasts in town and really friendly staff.
Staff lovely, great space and well priced pints for the area. The bouncer, however, is an aggressive and unpleasant narcissist who behaves as if he's the gatekeeper of the holy grail. A nasty jobsworth. Try and go when he's not there and you'll have a great time.
Really nice, friendly pub! Good beer, great staff. Beer garden is fab!
OK stopping off point from the centre of the city towards the Plain/St Clements. Warmer and brighter than I remember (as a student, some 45 years ago).
Warmth of welcome diminished slightly by lack of Campari, or Aperol, for a spritz. Some things don't change, after all.
