Booked a table just after they opened at 5.30 and the staff, food and whole meal was awesome... even though we were the first visitors for half an hour or so... food was delicious. Thoroughly recommend Chutneys to anyone visiting Oxford

Simple décor, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, excellent central location. Have I forgotten something? Ah, oh, yes, the food (KNEW there was something): great vegetarian cooking full of richness and warmth. Could maybe give an indication of 'heat' on the menu, though we did forget to ask. Just one little request for all you British (and others) within reach: Go there often, and order all the gulab jamon you can eat, that way mine host will order plenty in. They couldn't have it when we were there, not enough demand. Please! '):

They taste very Indian although obviously they don't make their food that spicy. Recommendable and pocket friendly. They do have typical infamous Indian dishes! 😊

Fantastic curry house, brilliant food and great portions. Good service. Highly recommended. Would definitely eat here again. Suggest you book a table as it was full, even though it was a Monday evening

Got there with 1 minute to spare, they'd shut but all I wanted was a tinned of papadoms and chutneys. Had a great chat with owner about general life stuff while I waited for food. Doubt they'd have let me order proper food as chefs were off line but it was a great visit, surprising chats and welcoming atmosphere. Will go back to eat a 'proper' dinner

Good South Indian food We got takeaway as there was lots of people waiting to be seated so I would recommend making a booking. Slightly pricey but big portions. Unfortunately no sides served with mains so you have to order sides separately. We had a chicken dish and a veg dish. Both were very good. Good takeaway packaging as well.

Tasty Indian tikki masala and lamb pasanda! The appetizer was nice and crunchy and came with an assortment of savory sauces. The naan was also very nice, but the best part of this experience were the heated plates.

Loved the food at Chutneys! We had Gosht Biriyani, Jaal Machi, Korai Chicken and Tandoori Roti. As my smile says, the food was amazing, the service was prompt and we enjoyed our evening thoroughly. 🙂 Must visit place for those who would like to have authentic Indian cuisine.

This is my second visit to Chutneys and I have to say that this is by far one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. The food is very authentic and fresh and provides individuals with a real comforting and welcoming atmosphere and offers an insight into the wonders Of Asian cuisine. The food here is freshly prepared. This means waiting times is a little longer for each dish ( between starters and mains) of around 15 minutes which although is longer than other locations.. It's totally respectable based on the fact that food Is made fresh. I orderd lamb Sommosas, Lamb koria, and sag Aloo. My nan had orderd the same but she had keema rice where as I had plain. Would highly recommend all of the above. The keema rice was very flavourful and I found it to be more enjoyable and flavourful than the mixed beryani I have had previously here. All the food was packed with flavour and was very fresh and the meat was soft and tender. The plates are given to you hot which means your food is kept warm throughout our meal which Is wonderful. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed with a warm a heart filled service. I believe it is a family run business and you can really sense thier pashion for good Ashain food. I like there to be sweet elements on my plate so I find that asking for some green chutney to accompany the curry can really bring the whole dish together. Price wise your can expect to pay around £20+ per head. The only downside is I find the chairs to be a little uncomfortable but other than that this is for sure a new family favourite. The only thing I would say service wise was that the customer service on the phone was very poor. When calling to make a reservation they put the phone down on me mid sentence. When I called straight back they said they couldn't understand me. It would have been nice for them to state that instead of just hanging up the phone with no warning.

If you surf through Google Maps for restaurants that have a rating of 4.5 or more, stop now. You have found the right place. This is the best curry house. Better than any curry house in my home town. Do yourself a favour, and walk in, order the phenomonal Mixed Tandoori, or perhaps the very tasty Paneer Dhansak if you're veggy (like my fiancee), and in a couple of hours write a review just like this, because of how damn good the food was.

A hidden gem! Delicious food that isn’t too pricey, it’s also not too busy since it’s off the beaten path. I recommend to anyone wanting some good Indian food.

So from outside it looks ok.. you might doubt your decision… however after we tried their vegetarian menu… fresh and soft naans delicious bhajis… and on the top of it they also gave us one of their specialty on the house… after long day a delicious food is all you want and Chutney’s is just the place for anyone looking for indian food in oxford… don’t forget to say make it spicy if your spice level is good.

Got takeaway this evening. Food was hot and quite tasty. Appreciated the chef was able to change the spice level to suit our request. Would definitely come back.
