When planning our trip to Oxford, Pieminister was a must visit. As someone with Coeliac, it is very rare to find a pie and mash shop that caters to my dietary requirements.
It's a good location, surrounded by interesting shops, and slotted well into our day of visiting local attractions.
On arrival, it was empty, and we were able to order straight away. There is a good choice of gluten-free options, and the price is very reasonable.
When it came to sitting down, all the tables had empty dirty plates and the same on the bar at the window. The serve was sat behind the counter on their phone when we arrived, so they clearly had time to clear and clean the tables but chose not to.
Now, the pie and mash itself were the best I have ever tasted. It was fresh, it was packed with filling, and the flavour was divine.
There are no local restaurants to where I live, but if given the chance, I would dine here again, without a doubt.
Waited about 20-25 min for my pie since there was nothing out that I wanted, so I got this one fresh! Despite the name "Moo and Blue", it took me until I put the pie in my mouth to realize it had blue cheese in it. Nowhere near an overwhelming amount, though, so you get the taste of it without that little shiver when you eat too much. The meat was tender and the mash and peas were also good. Overall, would return if I was ever in the area again.
Super tasty! Do not be intimidated by the line, it moves quickly. That said they will be out of more popular pies by noonish. I enjoyed my Moo and Bloo as well as Chicken Tikka.
Nice little place in the market.
I ordered pie and two sides. Gravy was perfect for Moo. There were quite a few tables and seating areas.
Quirky place, had a Kevin pie. The pie itself was very tasty, but if you come late you have no choice of pie. By 1pm there were only few pies left. No cutlery was washed as poor lady was there serving and cleaning on her own. What I really did not like was limited seating area which was taken by people who already finished their meal but were sat there and chatted.
The pie could be served with more gravy.
I never ate a pie before, so I can't compare, but I enjoyed it very much.
Not the best foto, but I swear - it was delicious.
The really tall nice fella who served us yesterday around 4ish deserves a pay increase as he represented the height of customer hospitality anywhere in Oxford, during our day trip. The pies we took away were also of exemplary quality - amazing pastry and generous well seasoned, delicious filling.
They have gluten free pies here! Expect them to take 15 mins to heat up in a separate oven. Worth the wait.
Delicious pie. It could be better if it is crunchy. Very good services
Great variety of pies, delicious moo & blue pie, very tasty. We could apply the "Vip coupon" discount, so lunch was really cheap
Absolutely fabulous. A lovely little spot in the heart of Oxford鈥檚 superb old covered market. Great selection of pies - meat, veggie and vegan options available. All cooked fresh on site. Hot and cold drinks. Great spot for lunch with efficient friendly staff.
We order the mothership which comes with your choice of pie, mash, minty mushy peas, gravy, cheddar and crispy onions on the top. The pies were delicious. The service was friendly and helpful.
Seems like some people have had issues with the cleanliness during their visit. We had no such issues鈥攁nd my wife pays particular attention to those elements, notably the health code violations. The pies were delicious. I had a traditional beef and ale, my wife had a chicken one with peas and such. I went back for a second and got the chicken tikka. The cheesy mash potatoes were also great. I was told you always get gravy and have no issue to doubt this advice ex post. The only issue was that I ate so much that I was full for the next day and a half.
Our lunch here was absolutely delicious! The restaurant was really nice and tidy and clean. We weren鈥檛 sure what to order but Harneek helped us decide and we both went for the chicken funghi. He was very polite and helpful and we will come back to try some of the others he recommended. Recommend pie minister to everyone 馃憤
We went there at Saturday lunch time so it was pretty busy. But they offer a wide range of options, with vegan gravy. Pretty authentic place, and the staff was nice. Affordable too.
Our first time in Oxford. We found the covered market & then had to make the difficult decision of what to eat. As huge pie & mash fans we have had some of the best in Whitby & Bridgnorth so had to try a new place. We were certainly not disappointed. A good selection of pies & sides to choose from at a very reasonable price. You can't beat homemade pastry. Delish! We will be back from the Midlands as soon as we can 鉁达笍鉁达笍鉁达笍鉁达笍鉁达笍馃構
