Been here for dinner. I always trust family run restaurants. Soupe de jour was tomato soup and we ordered twice! The red pepper made it so tasty! I ordered Onglet à l’Echalotte but my steak wasn’t as soft as I had expected. My friend ordered Calamars Frits as a side plate but actually the plate was just like course meal :) To sweeten our ending, Crème Brûlée was the best choice we had! Even in weekdays it is quite busy, better to reserve a table in advance. Also it would be nice to have more staff when it is completely full. We will definitely come back here again! ✨✨
We had the Sunday Lunch menu. If memory serves me well around 30£ for 3 courses.
The food was very good - typical flavorful French cuisine - and the service was attentive.
The bottom floor is like a big corridor, the tables at the end of the space don't get any natural light, try to seat more to the front of the restaurant.
I wish I knew french to describe me experience. The ambiance is rustic yet classy. Staff is courteous and efficient. While it is a french bistro but the menu spread is broader. Possibly some more optons for venags could have been there.

Pierre Victoire is a cosy French bistro located on the quaint, fairy-light adorned Little Clarendon Street in central Oxford. The rustic wooden tables, candlelight and the higgledy-piggledy arrangement of the restaurant give it both a pleasant informality and a distinctly romantic atmosphere. French cuisine is perhaps not famed for being kind of the vegetarian but, providing you like cheese, the veggie should find himself/herself very much at home in this establishment.
Absolute solid value for money. Had lunch today. Enjoyed thoroughly.
One of my favorite in Oxford. Excellent food, value and service.
Lovely little restaurant. Menu is seasonal but slightly limited. Excellent service, lovely presentation and yummy food at a reasonable price.
Very enjoyable. We both had the prix fixe which allows choice of most of the menu. My duck came with a wonderful presentation and perfectly cooked. Service was spot on. Desert was a wonderful tart like cake. A view of the other tables plates shared the same great presentations and comments all seemed to be positive.
I was treated by my friends to this family run restaurant and I was truly impressed. The dishes all tasted as good as they looked. And Let’s just say that everyone was very happy with their dishes and looking forward to returning soon. This is a little gem of Oxford.
A very nice experience!
The menu is very well priced at just shy of £35 pp for 3 courses. Well presented food with lush sauces. Seated at a halfway point up
the stairs I think we missed out on the atmosphere of the restaurant. However, food was served very quickly, you weren’t left waiting around for long! Will definitely be back for more. There is raw red onion on a lot of the dishes so ensure you ask without if you’re not a fan. Would recommend the Duck Confit and Tiramisu. Both fabulous!!
Will be back for more.
Went on a date night after hearing very good things about Pierre Victoire, and although the expectations were very high, they were exceeded! 👌
Best meal I had in a long time. No point in talking about the food, just come and give it a try, you'll be delighted!
Very friendly but still professional service. A small mistake was made while serving our starters but it was promptly resolved and even offered an extra complementary starter as "compensation" when it was not even needed, which shows great focus on customer service.
Had the sharing chocolate fondue for desert, which was great, but I thought the choice of fruits to go with it was not very happy, particularly the orange and the pineapple, but that's just a matter of personal opinion, I guess. The strawberries and marshmallows were amazing!
I loved the contrast of fine dining food with the casual environment of a bistro, but it was a bit too loud. But maybe it was just a night with particularly noisy customers.
Overall, it was a great experience and it just bacame my favourite restaurant in Oxford. Well done to the whole team! 👏
Lowkey French restaurant with amazing food at a very reasonable price. You have the option of doing either the 2- or 3- course prix fixe for dinner, and the portions are quite generous. My family said this was the best meal we have had so far on our trip. They were also able to accommodate our dog at dinner when we called in advance. Thank you!!
We had an amazing lunch today. Beautiful dishes, attentive staff including the lovely owner who chatted to us! We could not fault anything. We had a lovely lunch and would recommend to anyone!
Amazing food! my fave is the souffle! we had mussels and blue cheese souffle as starter then lamb steak and sea bass, and we got the apple tart for dessert. 10/10 recommend!
This charming French bistro exudes a warm, down-to-earth ambiance. The selection of wines perfectly complements the exquisite steak. A delightful spot for an inviting, cozy dining experience.
Excellent food. The only suggestion that I can make is rather than getting fondue au chocolat for 2, get 2 individual deserts, that fondue doesn't have quality & quantity of £12, their other desserts totally worth it though.
The absolute gem of Oxford, reliable as always. Welcomed two drowned rats from the rain, without a reservation, even on a not-quiet Wednesday evening, and served us up an excellent meal at a very fair price. Without hyperbole, I was genuinely still reminiscing about how amazing my parfait and duck tasted the next morning, and am making plans to go back with my significant other. Love this place, go!
Good overall - starters & dessert excellent- duck as main course disappointment - fresh seafood- amazing tiramisu!!
Very tasty French food with generous portions. All dishes have a lovely blend of flavours, and are well balanced.
The desserts are quite average, so we opted to skip them the second time we visited.
The service is minimal, and this is reflected in the lack of service charge. Although the price of the meal overall would be about the same for a restaurant of similar quality with service charge.
Favourite restaurant in the local area. Great, affordable, homemade, traditional food. I've never had a bad wine there, and it's the best value for money list I've ever seen. Fantastic, natural atmosphere. Staff are helpful & never intrusive. Not to be missed.

We had a nice dinner!
It was Sunday evening, we walked in with no reservation. They told us that they’re fully booked tonight however there is a spot for only an hour now. It actually worked perfectly for us! Everything was very tasty and served at the perfect time. Great service!
Really nice place.
It's not inexpensive. The prices are quite high, at least for my budget. Fixed price- 28.50 for two course. 34.50 for three course. And the alcohol is expensive too.
But if you want to have a high-end dinner in Oxford and you have the money to spend, this is a fantastic choice. Good location- Little Clarendon Street. Lots of seating space. Ground floor, outdoors, upper floors. Very well maintained. Helpful, friendly staff. The food is delicious. The portions are good, especially for the main course. I tried a lot of the dishes and everything tasted superb.
One of the very few and best authentic and independent restaurants in Oxford, perfect for a casual date night. Maybe not gourmet or very unique in its offering, but the value-for-money is unbeatable with just honest food of really good ingredients in a friendly atmosphere. I would consider Pierre Victoire, Cherwell Boathouse and Arbequina to be the best three "better" restaurants in Oxford that cook just good and honest food without being overly commercialized (like everything else in Oxford).
Had a fantastic meal with my partner here at Pierre Victoire. Food and wine was exceptional (best pâté I have ever had), service was very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was just perfect - not too packed or loud and not too quiet - just the right size as well. Would thoroughly recommend to friends and family.
Sooooooo… as you can see from the photos the food was excellent. I went for the steak tartare starter and fillet steak main. Both delicious.
We were there for my daughters 21st and her and her boyfriend’s food also looked superb.
Why 4-stars? They messed up with the birthday cake. It just “appeared” without much ceremony and they missed a vital candle off. We supplied a 2 and 1 but they only placed the 1 candle on. Bit poor really.
Am I being petty? Maybe but it’s attention to detail like this that is the difference between a 4 and 5 star review.
Would visit again. Can’t knock the food just a bit disappointed with the birthday celebration.
