With it being Just 57 minutes from Paddington on the train, we were able to get an authentic taste of the Caribbean cuisine and hospitality without leaving the UK!
From the moment we walked in our ear buds were teased with rhythms of soca and reggae music and the friendly staff quickly made us feel at home and quite exclusive, as our our 6pm booking made us the very first diners of the evening. Then as we were selecting our desires from the wide ranging menu, we were provided with some tantalising chow chow that does a tingly dance on your tongue. The 2 for 1 rum punch offer invited us to start off in true Caribbean spirit.
For starters wee selected the jerk chicken spring rolls (which were a chunky size with sizeable pieces of jerk chicken inside), and the jerk chicken wings. And for the mains we went for the jerk chicken and the curry fish roti, with sides of fried plantain and the most amazing Paradise salad with watermelon,
pineapple and pomegranate! It really was a perfect and refreshing accompaniment to our tasty meals.
Then for dessert we were pleasantly surprised by the rum cake (proper Caribbean black cake!) with vanilla ice cream (definitely needed a 2nd scoop, though). With two cocktails to finish off, (one lychee infused one created by Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell who just happened to be in attendance), as we sipped them in the now full and buzzing restaurant, I can definitely say that we got the 'special' night that I requested in my email reservation!
Alas I will be obliged to return very soon, to sample more of the delicious menu and make my way through the extensive Caribbean rum selection.

We visited Saturday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. Amazing food, atmosphere and wonderful service. The staff could not have been more helpful if they tried! We felt like we made new friends, everyone was so warm and welcoming.
It's refreshing to find a Caribbean restaurant within an hour of home (the Midlands) which serves something other than just the typical jerk chicken/brown stew kind of dishes.
It was our first visit but definitely won't be our last. I would highly recommend Spiced Roots if you are in need of some authentic island food or are just looking for something different to try. You won't be disappointed.
Great choice of food on the menu. Staff were very attentive. Great atmosphere. But most of all, beautiful quality food. Would definitely recommend. I can't wait to go back to try another dish!
Without a doubt my fave spot! Charm, character and heart apply to everything about it - the food, the staff, the overall feel of it.
If you are looking for authentic Caribbean food and have a true appreciation for it, this is whee you must go! End of discussion

Delicious food,great range of rum and a really warm and friendly welcome by the staff - I'd highly recommend. And the guy that sang me 'happy birthday' had a fantastic voice! Thank you for a wonderful night 😊
We hightailed it to Oxford from London for a Caribbean experience that was expectedly colourful. The oxtail is definitely a must try. Hearty recipe with comfort at its core because there is a resemblance to something familial in flavour, like something Grandma or Mama would put together.
I would also highly recommend the rum cake! Don't look at the menu simply. There is an array of spice that creates a fragrance on the palate that shouldn't be underestimated. One to try!
Absolutly love this place!! Amazing people, amazing food!! We came for my mums birthday and have already said we will be back for mine and my sisters birthday! I had the steak and it was most defiantly the best meal I've ever eaten! Totally recommend this restaurant!!

I have been following Spiced Roots journey and last night we finally had dinner.....awesome!! The place was full and the atmosphere was buzzing. 2 4 1 rum cocktails were great and the food was delicious!! All the staff were great fun and could not do enough. It was a dab night and we will return!!

Stumbled on this place yesterday whilst our daughter was at a concert.
We decided on a date night and as soon as we spotted Spiced Roots we decided yep let's give it a go.
The food was amazing the staff fantastic.
Can't wait to take my Dad for a treat.

I travelled all the way from Gloucester for a friends birthday party, and it was worth the drive. The food was on point and i will be travelling back again shortly to experience more.
Visited last night with my wife for our anniversary. Great food (excellently presented) friendly staff and great atmosphere. I had the jerk chicken which was delicious but will definitely be paying another visit to try the lamb ribs which looked amazing. Be warned, book before you go to avoid disappointment.
I've been here twice now, 1st time was for our wedding anniversary, it was so good I went back for my 50th birthday meal, apart from the amazing food, the staff are so welcoming, friendly and attentive and the rum punch packs a punch! We will be back x
Fantastic food. It's really spicy, so you must like it. The kingfish was just too spicy (8 green chillies) but I guess it's subjective. The lamb chops were divine. I am a fun of tasty sauces. I had a great time. Service is very amateur, though. We had to keep calling for the server attention and got a few orders wrong. When the plates arrived, the starters one were still on the table so it was a bit of a mishap. Overall nice atmosphere.
Easily the best Caribbean food we've ever had. Service was great, food was fresh and tasted amazing. This is definitely a hidden gem, very clean restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. Will visit again and they should open more branches.
A terrific find in Oxford. Authentic Caribbean food, great vibes, good service and the flavors of the dishes were off the chart. We started with a smoked aubergine and tomato dip with flat bread. It was very good, and just the right tough on spiciness. For our mains we had king prawns with curried potatoes and chickpeas with a roti. This was a great dish but the star was the jerk chicken. Wow! A fantastic dish. If you are in Oxford, make a visit.
An absolute gem of a restaurant in Oxford, the most authentic Caribbean food I have had. Fresh and good quality ingredients, lovely cocktails, great vibes. You can’t get better value for money than here, it’s so worth the visit for all of this but on top of that the service is 5 star, our waiter was Canveer and he was brilliant - I look forward to our next trip here.
The food here is absolutely delicious. I had the smoked baigan starter and ital roti main, both incredible, and I tried my friends' dishes too. My side of plantain was forgotten but I forgot about it too while eating because I was so engrossed with the food so I didn't mind. There's a really great vibe here, I'll definitely be back.
One of my favourite restaurants in Oxford. The food is absolutely amazing for very reasonably prices, and they have some great vegan options (but meat I hear is also great, particularly the jerk chicken). Great combinations of flavours. I love the trini doubles, the festivals and the jerk tempeh (although tempeh portion is a bit small). If you're feeling indulgent, should also definitely get the rum cake!
Thoroughly impressed with my entire experience. Delicious authentic Caribbean food bursting with flavour. The dishes were well balanced with the accompaniments correlating beautifully. The staff was Friendly, polite and attentive . The presentation was amazing!!
One of the most delicious restaurants I've ever eaten in the whole UK. Yes, that much tasty! We've been talking about it non-stop since the day we ate there. Big portions, tasty food - melting in your mouth. Nice small restaurant, friendly staff. Not overrated prices. Perfect.

Really tasty food, cooked to perfection, and with the perfect amount of spice.
However, the portions are quite small, especially compared to the price. The service was fairly minimal as well.
