Really nice Yorkshire pub with a nice atmosphere. Love it that it’s got a wood burner where you can relax and just chill with a nice cold Guinness. The food I had was nice two home cook pub food and the chips are amazing. All in all a really good pub would recommend it.
Fantastic country pub! Next to the comfortable, well spec’d Leeming Wells Hotel where we were staying when we visited Haworth. There was no accommodation in the village so we thought we’d be making a compromise. Far from it! What a gem of a place! As Storm Isha approached the British Isles we were greeted by roaring fires at either end of the main room with the bar, a reasonable number of guests, friendly staff offering excellent service. The six of us set up a tab and settled in for the night. Good selection of Timothy Taylor beers and quality Italian Primitivo wine. Good choice of food on the menu which was of restaurant quality. I highly recommend the Famous Dog & Gun Lamb Henry! A shoulder of lamb that fell off the bone accompanied with delicious, thick gravy, veg and you must go with the mash for this dish over the chips so you can mop up every drop of that gravy. Don’t get me wrong the chips look fantastic - triple-cooked? All proper home cooking. No manufactured pud-grub! We returned to the bar after our top-notch meal and were the last to leave at the end of the night. No sense of urgency from the barman for us to clear-off who engaged in our banter as he finished off his end of shift refreshment.
Back at the hotel, we were a bit naughty and had a quick dip in the pool (open 8am-8pm).
Dog & Gun + Leeming Well Hotel: What a venue! Not a compromise for our weekend away with friends … an enhancement!
My wife and I used the Dog & Gun for breakfast & evening meals from 4th-8th April 2024 while staying at the Leeming Wells Hotel up the road. The manager and staff were attentive and helpful at all times. The food was delicious and the atmosphere relaxed. A great country pub with fantastic views towards Oxenhope and Oxenhope Moor. We plan to return when in the area again.
Such a lovely pub, not very well signposted though, Timothy Taylor's ales a bit pricey, but quality was excellent Competitive bar snack menu, restaurant menu a little bit more expensive but with good choice of specials, we had to wait quite a long time for food, due to there only being 1 member of serving staff, but food was worth the wait.
12 Oz Barnsley chop with garlic and herb mash, port & redcurrant sauce really tasty, Cajun chicken breast with a chorizo stew also on the specials board.
One thing to mention they have 2 websites active, 1 says dog friendly, the current 1 makes no mention that they do not allow dogs, this needs to be rectified. Pleasant sitting out area which is dog friendly, surrounded by panels which give some shelter from the elements could be popular during warm weather
We came for Sunday lunch. A fabulous experience.
A wide ranging menu and I had the excellent roast beef dinner. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious.
Mrs C's lamb Henry was amazing.

Excellent food, Taylors beer and a crackling fire.
Lots of parking and open moorland to hike.
This was a most welcome midpoint between Bingley and Hebden Bridge in inclement weather.
It was steak night. Two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30 which was excellent value. The vegetables were fresh and tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great food. Best slow rossted belly pork I've ever had. My wife had lamb roast dinner, superb. It's out of the way but a favourite of ours.
Warm and welcoming as soon as we walked in the door. We were greeted as if they knew us.
The food was delicious, I had the pork belly and I would live to return to try the lamb.
The kitchen even made up a fresh vegan curry for my step sister because there was nothing on the menu that was shouting out to her. Thank you so much to the kitchen staff for making her feel included and not like a nuisance.
The poor waitress was subjected to my dad's jokes all night, she also deserves a shout out.
Lovely traditional pub with great ales. The staff are extremely polite and welcoming, which made for a lovely experience. Great views while eating.
Food was excellent. We had salmon, steak and roast beef. All really tasty.
Beautifully located with outdoor decking area and great views. Friendly and attentive team on bar and food service, good customer service overall and smiles. Landlord had a laugh and joke with us. We had a Sunday Lunch, the sliced beef looked tasty and was recommended, good portion offered. Yorkshire Puddings were one of biggest I've seen and we're light and crispy - a little disappointed when I received the chicken sunday lunch, expecting succulent slices of chicken, sadly received a chicken breast, clearly been cut, flattened and pan fried, slight brown on the edges. 😕, quite dry. Shame! Gravy came already poured on meal without asking if everyone was ok with this. Did offer extra gravy too which was good. A couple of minor improvements but overall a lovely visit.
Went here for tea with my wife on Friday evening, called ahead to book a table and the staff managed to get us in, upon arriving we were shown to our table by a lovely lady named fay, we were shown the menu and specials board and advised about the steak night deal, when our food arrived it was lovely, the fish was cooked perfectly and the gammon was spot on especially with the fresh pineapple on top, the puddings were very nice too, the service was great from each of the staff members Fay, Izzy and Zac, will definitely recommend and will be returning in the near future.
Great country pub with scenic views over a windy landscape. Ideal for walkers. A warm welcome, friendly staff and great food. Their signature dish, Lamb Henry is excellent, very tasty and the lamb just falls of the bone. Our third visit and we will be back again!
Went here for an early evening meal. The pub is very smart inside with an interesting glass cover over an old well and we were made very welcome. The menu seems to cater for a variety of tastes and there is a specials board. The done was excellent and I like the little touch no top of my coffee at the end. Can highly recommend.
Lovely traditional pub. Nice food and nice beer. There’s a viewing window in the floor that looks down into a well. Very interesting.
I went to meet an old pal from my school days and he suggested we meet up at this little gem of a pub. The location is stunning and the staff were really friendly. I ordered the mushroom stroganoff and wasn't disappointed. It was piping hot and so much flavour, absoloute better!!
