We've been here several times now. It's the perfect country pub. The staff are just lovely, and the food is absolutely first class. Beautifully presented, cooked to perfection. And that view! The Black Boy is a wonderful example of how to make a classic country pub work. I've recommended it to anyone with ears! Congratulations to staff and owners. Keep doing what you're doing. You're epic!
Meet family who had never been before for lunch. Even though it was very busy we were shown to our table straight away. Lucky for us we had a window seat so could enjoy the magnificent view through the heavy rain. All meals were excellent with plenty of choice at reasonable prices. Served by friendly helpful staff. Have recommended to others so hope I can get a table on my return.
Exceptional food & service from this little gem of a place hidden within the picturesque countryside. Well done guys, keep up the good work �

What a beautiful setting just spent the most wonderful afternoon here, food & drink amazing highly recommend.
The pub is as it should be...warm, friendly staff and great food. The four of us had a fantastic Sunday roast trying the beef, lamb, and pork. All were delicious and the Yorkshire pudding fantastic. Ales were good , scenery and seating was great. Wish I could be there next Sunday as well!

I held my 50th birthday party at the black boy in the marquee. The party was fabulous and the wonderful staff , waiting /bar / chefs / land lord made the night a success. I couldn’t have asked for better.

What a lovely little find hidden away in picturesque Oving.
Although we hadn't booked the wonderful staff did fit us in. It was snug where we were situated but we were comfortable. The views and the garden are simply beautiful and food was delicious.
Me and my wife stopped for a drink today for the first time and walked into the most beautiful pub and beer garden with views that we've ever seen. Joe, the new manageress, is lovely and very friendly and the menu is also great. We highly recommend a visit
We looove this pub! The drinks are so good! Please try the house gin is lovely, and please don’t miss the view outside, the sunset there on a sunny day is breathtaking. Best pub in the area. The ladies that work there are so lovely made us feel so at home. 10/10 recommend
Fantastic, historic pub in a gorgeous village location with amazing views! The food was delicious too, all of us had the Sunday roast (one pork and two veggie) and all of them were very tasty! The honey and whiskey cheesecake was also one of the best desserts I've had! Friendly service too! Highly recommended 🥰
Lovely pub, great views of bucks countryside, was in need of a roast dinner because it was Sunday! Past experience, it's tough to find a great roast so finding somewhere you can trust is hard. It's a little on the pricey side but it's well worth it! Trio of meat was my choice 😋, 2 children with us 2 empty bowls. 👍
Very good food, bar takes a little while to get served on a Friday night. It’s a stunning view from the beer garden.

Gorgeous historic pub in a small village with splendid views across the valley from the rear terrace. My pictures don't do it justice due to the iffy weather.
We ordered our meals and my fish and chips arrived. Great big bit of fish and some heavy duty chips with a decent serving of tartare sauce and mushy peas. I decided to add some vinegar as usual and saw a bottle of white vinegar on the table so poured a line on my fish only to discover it was oily and not vinegar but anti bacterial hand wash. I hadn't read the big label on the other side of the bottle DOH!!
My friends understood and promptly laughed at me and when the waitress asked what had happened she told me she would ask the chef to cook me another but it would take a few minutes. I gratefully accepted and the chef sent out a bowl of French fries for me to munch on while I waited as it had made him laugh so much. :):)
When the new portion arrived along with a brand new bottle of malted vinegar it was excellent and well worth the wait.
Throughout our visit the service from the staff was excellent as was the food and coffee and I now understand why the group go there frequently for lunch. I know I will return as well.

Came here for my birthday lunch. We ordered alot of food ( 3 sides, 2 starters, 2 mains ) between 2 of us. The mains were absolutely lovely, the starters and sides were okay. A couple were missing items, but the service, atmosphere, place itself was perfect. Would deffintely reccomend.
We LOVE the Black Boy, the food, especially the roasts are AMAZING!! and they even put a candle in my dessert when I mentioned it was my birthday, it really made my day :)
Great food and service. Lovely british pub with loads of character. Service was super friendly and efficient . We all enjoyed our food and when weather allows there are beautiful views in the garden and lots of outdoor seating.
