A lovely find.
We love visiting here when we come down for the day to visit family in Devon.
The food is always fresh and the menu is always well thought out.
A gorgeous setting with gorgeous views.
I would love to see some of the farm shop items in the cafe/kitchen to have a look at when visiting the kitchen.
Really delicious breakfast here, when we eventually found it. Lady in the shop was a bit rude when telling us we were walking the wrong way shouting "no no" at us rather than politely getting our attention and directing us the right way.
Thankfully the breakfast and the staff in the Field Kitchen were much nicer. Food and coffee came in good time, with a tasty fried egg with a runny yolk to dip my toast in.
Delicious! We will be back again, and least we will know the right place to park now!
We had 2 super Small breakfasts and coffee! On Saturday 7th October. Beautiful views ! Very friendly service.our first time of visiting! Will definitely go back ! Then we went to the farm shop ,bought a few Xmas presents!
Lovely setting with stunning views of the countryside. Narrow lanes to get there so not for nervous drivers. Breakfast lovely but just one negative…… please don’t put black pepper on fried eggs, let the customer decide, it really spoilt my breakfast. Definitely worth a visit.
10 of us rocked up this morning, booking with little notice. Very decent! Melody of breakfast choices ordered, all sublime. Stunning views and excellent all round. Very happy and willing to visit again soon.
We have literally just left and had the most fantastic visit to the field kitchen. We sat outside with our 2 dogs (who were more than welcome inside, they were greeted with dog biscuits and a cuddle) the views are amazing, we watched 2 birds of prey swooping overhead whilst we had our breakfast in the sunshine!
We were greeted and sat by a wonderfully friendly lady (sorry I didn’t get your name) they were incredibly dog friendly - the menu even has a dog section! Our 2 had to sample the sausages and they went down an absolute treat! Onto the human food…. Well, we went for breakfast, but I would say It is probably the best breakfasts I have ever had! I had the veggie breakfast my father in law had the bubble and squeak with 2 (monster size) sausages - which we had to come to the farm shop to stock up on! We will definitely be back to sample some other delights!
Everything was so fresh and vibrant, cooked incredibly, a great cup of coffee and the service was beyond fantastic! We will 100% be back!
Amazing job guys - we’ve definitely found an absolute gem today and will be telling everyone we know!
Had a fabulous evening to celebrate my retirement. Wonderful venue with superb vies. Delicious food served by a friendly and efficient staff. Amazing gem of a place.
Yesterday, 1st June 2023, husband, myself and dear friend Ann had booked lunch at the Field Kitchen cafe at Cold Harbour Farm, Ottery St Mary, Devon. It’s about a short hour’s drive from our home near Newton Abbot.
As the day was warm and sunny we chose to sit at a table out on their terrace that overlooked the beautiful Devon rolling countryside. We each chose different dishes from the deliciously sounding lunch menu. I had the fish one, husband had the chicken special of the day and Ann had the shredded beef bap. Each dish was well served and tasted as delicious as the menu had sounded. We followed that with a warmed Brownie served with vanilla pod ice-cream and clotted cream. Scrumptious.
Afterwards, when we left to get in the car to drive back to Newton Abbot, our car failed to start. Neither key worked (mine or husband’s) and we faced a frustrating half hour or more trying but failing to make contact with roadside assistance. We were rescued by one of the cafe staff who saw our plight in their car park. She kindly organised one of their staff, who worked on the farm itself, to bring jump leads and a car driven close to ours. Whilst husband and cafe staff faffed about with connecting leads to the batteries of both cars etc, Ann and I quickly escaped back to the Kitchen cafe terrace to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea.
We three were then more than delighted that the car problem had been solved by the extremely helpful staff, their jump leads and their car’s battery.
We then happily drove home promising to return later this summer. The whole day was exceptional, especially made by the Cold Harbour Field Kitchen food, staff, clear blue skies, sunshine and the beauty of Devon’s countryside. A happy, memorable day out.
We all heartily recommend Cold Harbour Farm Field Kitchen for lunch, to anyone. We fully intend next time, after our lunch, to include a visit to their Farm Shop that lies a short 100 yards up the lane.
Wonderful staff who went above and beyond providing delicious food, to then help us resolve our failed car problems with no hesitation whatsoever.
Many thanks from Jackie Starkie, my husband Roger and our friend Ann.
WOW! Amazing view from the cafe terrace and such good food I almost ordered it again. Farm shop is full of treats and even let you try all the gins before you buy. Also we found some alpacas just next door.
This is the best farm cafe I have visited. It is really understated yet the food is fantastic, the staff are lovely, and the view is to die for.
Went for a late lunch and sat on the terrace outside in the sun - idyllic location and they were kind enough to rustle up a fantastic vegan option with no notice. Great coffee, friendly staff and amazing views - highly recommend
Squeezed us in late on a tapas night, food was supurb, service was excellent and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Delicious food and friendly service. Dog friendly - my dog loves to join me and enjoy a cheeky sausage
Very nice Sunday roast all fresh veg super beef
Deserves gold in the best farm shop and cafe category in the south west. This was the best roast beef I've ever had.... including my wife's and mothers. The secret apparently was to slow cook the beef for 6 hours. The mutton and apple juice was outstanding too. I encourage everyone to try this place.
Fantastic place for lunch.
Amazing views across the valley, very cosy and lovely decor inside.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Food absolutely delicious. Had the Hoisin duck burger. Would definitely recommend.
Will return soon to try out more lunch dishes and breakfast menu.
We came to the new field kitchen for breakfast on Saturday morning. It was amazing, such a beautiful setting with the views. I had the fry up which was very good quality and filled me up for our walk afterwards. We were very well looked after. Can't wait to go back, especially for a cider on one of their later night openings during summer.
Thank you again Coldharbour Field Kitchen for the wonderful breakfast yesterday. It is such a treat to be able to share your very tasty food with our American family. We were all very full and very happy when we left.
