Ye Olde Boote Inn, a three-star establishment, is a short one-minute walk from Whittington Castle. This family-run inn set in a 16th-century coaching house is also seven miles from Chirk Castle.
The six rooms are furnished in a classic style and feature en suite bathrooms and tea and coffee-making facilities.
The restaurant features a plaid décor serving pub classics and modern global dishes, a cozy bar with dark wood furnishings, oak-beamed ceilings, cask ales, and malt whiskies. As a bonus, a full English breakfast is available.
Great pub, staff very friendly and food well cooked to order and delicious.
The room was rather hot, due to unusually hot weather-room had been bathed in sunlight all day. It was aria noisy night as the room is in a busy road so with windows open it was worse than usual.
The room was well appointed and a large bathroom.
Overall a lovely place to eat. The good was fantastic, fresh and tasted lovely. So I have given the service a 4 🌟 sadly.......
The girls who were working when we arrived were brilliant, attentive and had a smile on there faces all the way through the service. What let them down was they didn't have enough staff who were knowledgeable on the menu, the bar and generally what was going on. They had a lack of menus and children's menus and a man who I assumed was on a day off was sat at the bar and felt the need to help the bar staff. Sadly you would have thought this was there first night of opening. It felt a bit chaotic. They had to keep running to the chef to check it was OK if someone had a question. Personally I think you need more staff for your bar and also a member of staff to be in the front introducing you overnight guests. You had the phone ringing and the girls were to run off there feet to answer it and a lady who was with the gent who helped with the bar answered it amd it was an overnight guest wanting to know when they could check in. I don't mean this to sound negative as I want it to be an opportunity to help your amazing staff out. Again the girls were brilliant who served us.
where do I start......... super friendly staff where nothing is too much of a problem! the food; well OMG, my wife had Liver, mash and gravy (it took her back to childhood), my children had Gammon, egg and chips, what a healthy portion. I had the Pie chips and gravy, the Pie was like a door wedge, which fell apart in my mouth.
We stayed over we stayed at the front of the pub, the room was quiet with comfortable beds. downstairs in the pub, lovely setting, I would love to return in the winter with the log fires on. cracking pint of Guinness with a good local community feel.
I had a two night stay here over this weekend and had a very pleasant stay. Really friendly staff welcomed me and showed me to my room which was really clean and organised nicely with all I needed. 7 of us then met up for a meal on the Friday night and the fish and chips were spot on!
Easy relaxed stay in a really pretty little village and nice friendly warm old school pub atmosphere!
Really enjoyed my visit, service was fast
& friendly. The beer ‘Robinson’s Dizzy Blonde’ was spot on. I had the “Boote Burger” it was very tasty. It was served on a chopping board which I thought unusual but didn’t add or take away from the experience for me. A little dearer than I’d normally pay but I put this down to local variations in prices! If I’m ever in the area again I’d certainly return.
Excellent location and lovely accommodation. All staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious too.
This place is a hidden little gem. Under new management. We were made to feel so welcome by Mark and his staff right from the beginning. Food was delicious and piping hot. The rooms were lovely with a view of the castle, beds were really comfortable. We had a lovely stay here really highly recommended. Mark and his staff have worked their socks off after only taking over the pub less than a week ago. Would highly recommend you pay a visit, thank you for a lovely stay.
Fantastic service and drinks. 2 meals for £30. While the steak was wonderful, the chips were a bit too chick so I would suggest that they are skinned a little bit next time.
Looking forward to going back next time.
Excellent food. Had the wonderful tasty steak and ale pie last night. Staff were great. Lovely location and a great atmosphere Inn. Thank you

Stayed overnight, we have used before lockdown so this is our first visit since change of management.
Room *clean and serviceable.
Bed* rather soft mattress but it's difficult to fit for everyone.
Food * meal in the evening was good, not gasto pub but good for local pub grub.
Beer* nice selection of ales.
Service* staff pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast * long wait over 45 mins for cooked breakfast as limited staff due to kitchen size, coffee machine broken.
Breakfast was served on cold plate and beans were luke warm.
Staff* pleasant and kept apologising for coffee machine.
Overall OK stay shame about the breakfast. I
Note if you don't like church clock bells chiming through the night take ear plugs.
First visit will not be our last. Large portions reasonable prices wine not expensive. Old pub has well maintained with lots of historic photos etc
