Well what can I say. We made a last minute decision to eat out on a Sunday, this wasn’t our first choice (as we didn’t really know about it) but after phoning around this was the only place able to fit us in. I must say the food was excellent, the environment was clean and calm. I had what they call a Super Roast Dinner, my wife had a Mushroom Wellington Roast dinner and our little man had a kids meal Chicken Nuggets and Chips. As the name suggests A Super Roast Dinner. This was absolutely delicious , the food was that good that the only thing I’d change about it would be to have more. Perhaps a couple of roast potatoes and some more gravy would have made it better but I have to say awesome dinner. My wife who is the fussiest eater in the world absolutely loved her food to the point where she cleared the plate. My son who’s favorite is chicken nuggets and chips also loved his dinner which was good quality chicken goujons and rustic fries. Afters : I had a Snickers Cheesecake, the wife had Chocolate Brownie and my son had ice cream that comes with the kids meal. My desert was very good my only thoughts is that it was a little too much cheesecake and not enough ice cream, but that is me really trying to find fault. My wife’s chocolate brownie and ice cream was lovely and again she unusually cleared the plate. My sons kids meal ice cream was exactly the ice cream which he loved. So to sum it up I’m so glad that we found this place completely out of desperation to eat Sunday dinner without cooking and I’m glad the other options were too busy to accommodate us. Next time this will be our first choice as we enjoyed our dining experience here. There was only 1 hiccup which was when it came to paying as they wouldn’t accept £50 notes, so they brought out the card machine and problem solved.

What can I say about the Whitmore Arms..!! Went there last night for a Birthday meal with a friend. The minute you walk through the door there is a nice smile and a nice welcome from whoever is behind the bar.The beer is expertly kept...always nice especially the Guinness.Have used this establishment for many years and have never been disappointed.I can honestly say hand on heart that I have never had a bad meal here.Last night was no different....I started with Smoked Salmon and my friend had Tempura prawns. Both were lovely. Our main courses was medallions of beef with a cheese sauce....delicious :-) We finished with Bakewell tart with custard and caramel cheesecake....again....to die for..!!! This establishment is expertly run by the Orman family. All the staff are expertly trained by Margaret and it shows...They are all top notch....You always feel so Welcome the minute you set foot in the place. This is the best pub in Thurrock by far....for meals and for beer.....Give the place a try...believe me you will not regret it.

We had dinner with friends at The Whitmore Arms on Thursday 19 April to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The new menu looked amazing and it was difficult to choose what to have as it all looked so good. Our food was delicious, the staff very attentive, friendly and helpful in all aspects of our visit. We had a fabulous time with our friends and highly recommend anyone to pay a visit; you will have great time. Updated above. Lovely village pub. Always great food, excellent service and good atmosphere. Looking forward to the next tapas night. The last one we went to was amazing - so much food and great value!

My friend and I were greeted warmly on arrival and shown to our table. Menus were quickly given and our drinks orders were taken by a charming young lady who informed us about the chefs daily specials. We both chose squid to start followed by liver and bacon and hunters chicken. Both our meals were delicious! The house white wine we drank was also very nice. We both throughly enjoyed our evening and would recommend you visit as soon as possible!!

Higly recommend The Whitmore Arms: be it a mid-week pint, Sunday roast, casual dinner, business networking or even healthy eating education (the latter run by yours truly), you can’t go wrong. You will feel welcome from the moment you walk in and leave a happy customer!

Tried the tapas night tonight and it was incredible! Every single dish was great but the patatas bravas was easily one of the best we've ever had. Will definitely be recommending and coming back.

We visited The Whitmore Arms on Saturday and I can’t recommend it enough. Food was absolutely amazing, delicious homemade food which you don’t get in many pubs these days. The staff were fantastic, made us feel at home, nothing was too much for them. My son wanted to help clear the glasses off our table, the staff made him feel like a little helper and he was extra pleased with the sweets they gave him. We arrived at 5 and stayed till gone 9, we weren’t rushed or made to feel we needed to leave which makes a change from most places. The atmosphere was lovely, it was full with lots of families who looked like they were enjoying it as much as we were. So if you’re looking for a lovely pub with top notch food and amazing staff, this is your place. Thank you Whitmore Arms we will be back soon!

Today my friends and I made a last minute reservation as it was my 60th birthday. They were great, the afternoon tea was delicious and plentiful and they even gave me a gift of a boxed glass and a special happy birthday dessert with a candle 🥰 Thank you for a lovely afternoon. C

Service was a little slow Food was delicious, apart from the halloumi with watermelon and a balsamic glaze, which was a very odd combination, and the flavours weren't complimentary I had a homemade pie wirh seasonal vegfor main and toffee pecan roulade for dessert, both of which were tasty My husband had garlic mushrooms on toasted bread, and the fish burger with fries, plus the same dessert It was £65 total We both had starters, main and dessert

Not been here for years. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit, food and good service. We had chicken starter and rack of ribs main. They were both very good and the meat on the ribs fell away leaving the bones clean. My dogs would have been cheated to see the clean bones

Service of drinks was a little slow but it was busy, Roast was lovely potatoes were a little hard on outside. Side vegetables were disappointing seemed like frozen mix vegetables that were microwaved, they were different on previous visit.

Turned up without a reservation (had forgotten it was a Sunday afternoon) but the staff managed to accommodate us. It was very busy but food was still served in very good time and was faultless. Staff were all very pleasant, would definitely recommend.

A good feel to the venue for lunchtime dining. The room was comfortable and though busy we didn't feel overcrowded. Our pies of the day - beef and mushroom were crammed with meat and accompanied with swede, cauliflower, carrot and peas. However they were over salty to our taste. Service was excellent.

Hadn't visited for a couple of years but glad we went back. (Took my Mum out for lunch). Booked online and asked for a table on the ground floor...all sorted ok. Pretty standard pub grub menu. Food was good and nicely presented - Reasonably priced for what it was. Our server was friendly and well organised. Will return again.

It's sad that a lovely pub has fallen. Saturday night pub and restaurant half full. Service very slow. I had a steak it was ok the mushrooms must have been grilled 6 times. Sad young staff had to be reminded a lot.

The smoked fish platter is by far the best starter. The roasts are fab, the triple meat is great for big eaters! The puddings are well sized and the choices are varied. I think £19.95 for 3 courses is excellent value for money as the food is top quality.

A lovely old style pub with a lovely fresh menu. Good size car park. The pub is well kept and staff have been here for years. A great old style feel. The Sunday roasts are to die for. All fresh and can't really be faulted. They are always very popular and a good fair price

Amazing Dinner at the Whitmore I love this pub. After having moved away from the area I never can wait to come back to have one of their delicious meals. This time it was a pie, filled to the brim with tasty steak. Highly recommend any dish I ever had there!

Nice food. Very good service from friendly helpful staff. Nice atmosphere. Large menu and enough for vegans/vegetarians for mains. Would recommend. Wasn't easiest to book (online wouldn't work, couldn't initially get through on phone). & Has steps for entrance.
