Great food and drink, friendly place and even better profits go to charity! Not your usual coffee shop/restaurant looking for a quick buck, actually trying to help the local community.

We had cheese and tomato toasties, they came with a nice salad and we're very tasty and excellent value. The staff are very friendly and the cafe has a good choice of food and a nice atmosphere. We even got a biscuit with our tea and coffee.

I have always had a lovely experience at the Salt Cellar in Oldham. Excellent food and amazing value for money. Lovely building and friendly staff. Shame social media trolls are bringing this fabulous, caring place down for no true reason.

In their enthusiasm to be part of a baying mob people have lost sight of the fact that you are a CHARITY staffed by volunteers, supporting the poor and the homeless. If they shut you down, as they seem intent on doing, they only hurt the homeless and the poor - it's truly idiotic. I wish you all the best, I'm sure you will get past this and continue to do great work - and I'll be visiting next time I'm in Oldham.

The Salt Cellar is based in an interesting old building close to the centre of Oldham. It is set back slightly from the main shopping area which means it is an ideal place to go for lunch when shopping, or maybe just for a drink and a quick break. It is staffed by a number of volunteers who give up their time in order to contribute to the work The Salt Cellar does in our community. Anyone living in Oldham will know that we are a relatively deprived area and The Salt Cellar gives opportunities to local homeless people whilst running activities for young people who otherwise might have nothing positive in their lives. So, buy some cake and help the local community, seems good to me.

I brought my mum today who was in a wheelchair. The staff came to let us use the lift and we had a lovely lunch. The food was very nice and well presented. The staff were helpful and efficient and on seeing we were leaving, a member of staff helped us back to the lift without us asking. I would recommend the salt cellar to anyone whether it be a full meal or just a brew. Well done to all.

A lovely friendly place. This place hires people with disabilities and is doing great things for the community as well as good food. Cheese and onion pie is delicious and just like my Nana used to make.

I love this cafe, the staff are courteous and helpfull and my friend and i always sit and have a pot of tea for two and a toasted cheese scone ( to die for!!). We are never hurried and can have our annual catch up with no-one harrassing us to vacate the table.

A local voluntary church group restaurant (don't worry, nothing pushy here) means that the salt cellar provides good honest fair at surprisingly low prices. Very friendly people and good service. It can feel a little bit 1970's on occasion, and you have to forgive the spelling here and there, but otherwise, highly recommended.

Friendly staff reasonable prices, limited menu though. Run as a kind of charity and with strong religious connections. A lot of the staff are volunteers. No rush to leave you can stay chatting.
