Fantastic food, personally felt a bit pricey but in terms of the quality it’s very much worth it if you’re out with friends or on a date, highly recommend for a nice meal.
The welcome I received from the staff at the Hare & Hounds recently was so lovely. Returning from a small motorcycle trip this offered the perfect setting for a weekday evening. The food was delicious, staff brilliant, and the ale from the pump tasted so good!
Highly recommended.
I went as part of a group. I have special dietary requirements, so I phoned ahead the day before. I spoke to Luke, the chef, explaining my requirements. He was so lovely, helpfully and understanding. He designed me a wonderful lunch based on my needs and tastes that looked as if it had been ordered straight from the menu and was so well presented that you would never know. The food all looked excellent, and there was a nice variety of dishes to choose from. I would definitely recommend going. I can't emphasize how much it meant to me to be treated with so much understanding and care. It made me feel included and not like I was a nuisance as has happened in other establishments.
We booked a private room and taylored menu for our small wedding reception. Ella, Alex and the team were outstanding and the food was impecable. We could not fault any part of the reception. We are so grateful for everything they have done to make our wedding perfect. I would whole heartedly recommend any meal or special occasion here.
Visited today for lunch, and I have to say, this place is fantastic. Great service from lovely staff, in a wonderful setting. I had the carbonara risotto, it was the best I have ever tasted. My partner had devilled chicken livers, in a creamy brandy sauce, heaven. Wonderful experience.
This is a lovely pub in a very small village and in keeping with that has a pretty small car park. Don’t be surprised if at popular times there’s no spaces but unfortunately there’s little other choice in the area. If you do manage to get in though it’s a delightful place - very traditional and low ceilings make for plenty of ducking to the toilets, even for someone short. The staff are friendly and welcoming plus service is fast enough even when busy. If you’re wanting Sunday food I’d recommend a reservation since it seemed packed when we visited, but outside there’s plenty of spots for drinks. Some are undercover but there’s enough in the sun to make a full relaxing afternoon. Unfortunately all the space inside seems to be geared towards dining, so if the weather isn’t nice enough to sit outside you may struggle to find space if you’re only wanting drinks.
Great prices and lovely staff, as well the beauty of the building, make this a lovely pub. If I pass again I’ll certainly be stopping by.
Not been here in 10 years....still a good beer, great vibe inside and in the pub garden plus food is still top quality. The menu has changed so I think its missing some of the quality pub grub- homemade pies etc, some may find the main courses a little limited. The small share plate was superb quality and diverse: smoked salmon, onion bhaji, whitebait and parma ham but excellent quality. The steak was cooked to perfection with a great taste.the beef burger probably needed less cooking but was tasty and the flavour in the wild boar burger was lovely and probably didn't need the chunk of chorizo on top.
All in all a top quality meal would recommend and will return.££££.
Went on a Friday in November and was quite busy. Lovely staff, nice decor, food was delicious. We didn't fancy a big lunch so had 2 starters each, soup and a beetroot and squash salad. Not your typical pub food and very well made and served.
Delicious food. There wasn’t a lot on the menu but realised once we had our food that a lot of thought had been put into each dish, both ingredients and presentation. Seems like they have gone for quality rather than quantity which is refreshing. The staff were friendly. It’s a nice village to cycle to from Bedford. We stayed outside where there were plenty of seats. I did think the gazebo didn’t look nice but it’s all due to covid and expect that most places don’t have the money to invest too much into sheltered areas outside
Absolutely gorgeous little pub in a really beautiful little village.
I'd visited the aerodrome as a child but haven't been back for many years.
Therefore was totally surprised at how stunning the village is.
We stopped here in the rain and in fact sat out on the patio undercover as didn't want to sit inside as we were probably only drinking.
Whilst the menu isn't cheap it seems to be pretty special and although we didn't eat this time I am sure we will in the future.
Fairly good choice of beers and ales, I opted for a pint of DNA an IPA (from Brewpoint in Bedford who I have reviewed separately), it was really good.
Unfortunately as I was driving couldn't have another.
I can't recommend the food yet but the staff were really welcoming.
Just stopped for a coffee in the garden this afternoon before a little wander about this beautiful village on a Sunday afternoon. Service and coffee was great. Decided to order chips, well they were the most delicious chips ever! Must have been triple cooked, almost ordered a second bowl. My dog Samson (the big ginger dog) was even given biscuits while waiting in the garden. Toilets were easily accessible outside and were lovely and clean. Staff, polite, friendly and all appeared happy in their work. Would highly recommend. Great pub!
A beautiful pub in a very pretty village. The food was excellent, we'll be back!
Superb evening at The Hare & Hounds. The food was excellent, the service first class (Constantina was fabulous) and the welcome incredibly warm. Very good value for money. Fully recommend.
We've been for an anniversary meal, and the food was outstanding!
Lovely garden area too for a sunny day out with your fluffy friends 😊
Incredible food, lovely staff and pleasant atmosphere… what more could you want! A small but very impressive menu and delicious drinks too
Excellent food, nothing on the website about dogs only being allowed in the bar and the bar is a bit of a squeeze to eat in.
Fantastic. Such friendly service and really superb food. The gnocchi entree and the mussels entree were perfect for a summer afternoon. The poacher pear dessert delicious.
Had the most wonderful roast and dessert here today. The food was delicious, quantities just right and the quality of the beef was excellent: pink, juicy and tender. Best roasties I have tasted for a good while (could have eaten an entire tray of those crispy-shelled fluffy bad boys!!) and the cauliflower puree was a lip-smacking addition that brought the whole plate together. Dessert was a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds; I had the chocolate fondant with little explosions of mango through the sorbet, coulis and mango caviar. The contrasting textures were lovely and the different combinations felt like different desserts all on one plate. So much thought and care clearly goes into the flavour and presentation at this lovely little pub. Thoroughly recommend this place. The staff were so friendly and personable, the covid-safe provisions were excellent, and the atmosphere was really chilled. Grab yourself a table if you can, as this place is popular and it's obvious why. Thank you, Hare and Hounds team, for such an enjoyable lunch. Looking forward to the next one already!
